About this product
With Solstice, guitarist Adam Cicchillitti and bandoneonist Denis Plante, accompanied by the Montreal Classical Orchestra under the direction of Jean-Marie Zeitouni, present a unique project placing the guitar and bandoneon at the heart of the symphony orchestra as fully integrated solo voices.Conceived as a point of balance, mirroring the solstice, the album explores the meeting of musical traditions from the North and the South. It creates a dialogue between the great works of Latin America and contemporary Canadian creation, within a universe nourished by dance rhythms, popular influences, and classical heritage. Several works by Astor Piazzolla are also presented in new orchestrations that reveal the full expressive richness of these instruments, rarely featured in a symphonic context.Through Solstice, the artists offer a powerful and contemporary vision music of dialogue, migration, and transformation, where the guitar and bandoneon become the center of a vibrant and deeply human orchestral conversation.

Digitally re-mastered edition of this 1969 album. Brazil's Milton Nascimento is a musical giant. His eponymous third album built on his breakthrough in 1967 and period of recording in America. This album, Milton Nascimento, was Nascimento's statement that although he was known in America, he was back in Brazil, for Brazil and of Brazil. Milton Nascimento was where his backing band, Som Imaginaro - although not credited under that name - were first heard. Milton Nascimento is distinctively Brazilian, but has influences drawn from European and American Pop and Jazz, including tinges of what would later be called Progressive Rock. The album's voice is unique. Cherry Red. Album Tracks 1. Sentinela 2. Rosa Do Ventre 3. Pescaria (Canoeiro) / O Mar Meu Cho 4. Tarde 5. Beco Do Mota 6. Pai Grande 7. Quatro Luas 8.
