Great powerhouse of a laptop at a reasonable price
Built quality improved over the last years - Everything is still plastic though so I would rate 8/10 I/O - Moving the IO's to the back of the laptop was actually a great move. I felt a little sketchy before I had this but using it now it feels great. I feel I'm ONE USB too short, but ok. 8/10 Screen is great for its size, contrast is great! It's QHD+, 240hz so that's awesome if you don't have a second screen. 9/10 Keyboard feels really solid regarding size, placement and overall quality feel. Same for the trackpad. 7/10 Sound quality is really poor (at least with my unit) but not that I would be using that a lot, I mostly use Headsets anyway. 5/10 Now what REALLY matters: Processor - The new R9 7845HX is ABSURD! It trumps the i9's of latest 13th gen. Really good power house with good value to it. Thermals are good for something powerful like this - thanks to Alienware's cooling solution. 10/10 GPU - I got the 4080 version and I couldn't have made a better choice. This is WAAAY better than the 4070 by about 20% and dominates last gen 3080Ti for about 25%. It's 12GB GDDR6X is also a great improvement. It is AWESOME without being overpriced like the 4090. 10/10 RAM - Being one of the new line of laptops with DDR5 is awesome, I just feel like the default 16GB is on the low side....it should come with at least 32GBs (I already did the upgrade myself, but still...) - 8/10 SSD - Didn't perform any specific tests or anything because the nuances on a daily use are pretty much unnoticeable. M.2 SSD slot with 1TB of space, pretty standard. 9/10 Battery - You're a lunatic if you think this power house has a good battery....It's size is good but come on....no one will use this outside of the outlet.... 9/10 Overall - 8/10 If this came with a metal chassis and with 32GB ram from the factory it would be 10/10. Really glad I got this over the Intel version though.

Great laptop but high temps & AMD driver issues
Great laptop for gaming, max out AAA games with Ultra settings at 2k resolution and over 160 fps. Has Mux switch ,2 open m.2 slots and upgradable ram. The cons for this laptop is high temps. Yes Intel runs hot but this AMD CPU goes to another level hits 100 to 101 degrees Celsius constantly gaming. Also AMD driver issues for integrated graphics cards. Blue screen constantly on boot up. Did wipe and restore, dell trouble shooter and clean driver install same issues. Went with dell only drivers still there. If I disable integrated and do Nvidia only, then issue is gone but so is battery life. Just swapped it out for Intel alienware m16 Intel core i9 at Best buy. If it has AMD be prepared for high temps and driver instability do yourself a favor and buy the Intel model of this. It is amazing.

Alienware m16 Gaming Laptop: Raw Power With a Few
The RTX 4080 handles everything I throw at it. AAA titles, video editing, and heavy multitasking run without throttling. The QHD+ 240Hz display is sharp and smooth. The AMD Ryzen 9 7000 series holds up well under load. No major bottlenecks paired with the GPU. 16GB RAM is the weak point. At this price, 32GB should be standard. Upgradeable, but it costs extra. The 1TB SSD is fast. Storage fills up if you game heavily, so budget for an external drive. Build quality is solid. The Dark Metallic Moon finish looks clean and holds up to daily use. Battery life is short under load, around 2 to 3 hours. Keep it plugged in for serious use. Fan noise is loud during intensive tasks. Thermals are managed well, but expect the fans to run hard. Bottom line: Strong GPU and display make this a capable machine. The RAM and battery are the trade-offs. Worth it if you need desktop-level performance in a laptop.
