I love this movie, and the look and quality of this movie so much I went back and purchased the steelbook release, and gifted the standard 3D/4K release to a co-worker. This is one of title to seek out and purchase! James Cameron & Co have crafted an action-filled world filled with stunning sights and amazing sounds! This release has it all! The 4K/UHD media is nothing short of HDR visual splendor and Dolby Atmos Audio perfection The 3D media brings with it, picture quality bordering upon that of UHD, but with the added, encompassing heightened reality that only 3D can bring! The only downside on on the 3D media is that it does not appear to include Dolby Atmos Audio, which would have made this PERFECTION! ...then there is the standard 1080p 2D Blu-ray, which, if you have read my quick review of the 3D media, is just like it, ...only boring and flat, making me feel sorry for those who do not appreciate quality 3D presentations or those who missed out on the opportunity to land a television which supports both UHD as well as 3D formats. 4K/UHD, 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and a UHD Digital Copy all for just under $30? What are you waiting for!? BUY THIS TITLE!

I missed the 3D version in the theater, so I had to settle for the 2D version. I was impressed with the unique and fresh storyline. The action and the CGI effects were amazing. With the closeup scenes of Alita's face, you'd swear she was a real person. I was thrilled when they announced the 4K release would also include the 3D version, which took the movie to a hold new level. Most 3D releases are fake 3D, created in post production. This movie was actually filmed in 3D and you can easily see the difference. My only disappointment with the disc set is the 4K version had Dolby Atmos, while the 3D version was reduced to DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1. Both audio tracks are amazing in this movie, but I preferred the Atmos track.

I have been an enormous fan of the series since it started in early 90s. It’s such a compelling story and has amazing elements within their characters. Truth be told, when I saw the trailers for it I was very skeptical but decided to watch it on a sneak peek weekend. It was the best decision I made in regards to theater experiences. A couple of wonderful things to touch base on are: It is very faithful to the manga (with some touch of Hollywood but it is done tastefully). It has a great pace and you don’t need to read the manga to know what’s going on. Robert Rodriguez, James Cameron and John landau do an amazing job in keeping it very fluid and captivating the audiences. I personally saw the movie 35 times in the theater in every format available (IMAX, Cinemark XD, DBOX, 3D digital, and digital) and my only regret is I didn’t have more chances to watch it in IMAX and DBOX! I humbly ask you to give it a try and make the judgement yourself. I can’t promise everyone will love it, but I sincerely hope it resonates with you and as it did me.
