I've loved the original XL and this is a nice upgrade. The main things I see different are better lights, styling, lighter weight, more secure door for plugs and an added bass outlet on the bottom. This speaker is very loud for the size and price, has good bass frequency for it's size, and amazing stereo sound across all frequencies. I haven't maxed out the battery life but can say the original XL has a pretty good battery for say 4-8 hours at max volume without using the lights. Styling, this is one of the coolest speakers, stylize, It's easy to place in a lot of places a big cupe won't fit. It's side profile is triangular that let's it wedge into many spaces and it has the 3 full length handles which make it easy to carry, hand to others and strap to river tubes, bicycles or backpacks. It's so light, you won't believe there are batteries in it. They say it floats no problem and I believe them but haven't tried that (Be sure you got the cord door closed tight!) Also it has great bluetooth range and fast pairing, you can connect multiple speakers together. Get this if you want something that is light, loud and versatile.
