I have taken this speaker to work and it stood up to all kinds of cold, ice, snow and dirt and it keeps sounding great! just washed it off in the shower!!! can't wait to see how it holds up on the Kayak this summer!

Look, I’m a bit tech savvy. My Husband however isn’t at all. He loves this speaker for it ease of use and spectacular sound. This speaker lives outside with me wherever I am in the yard.

This thing is awesome. Sounds as you'd expect from Altec Lansing . It's waterproof. It's got great battery life. You can charge your other devices via USB directly from the speaker. Don't have to worry about your phone dying while you're trying to stream music; just plug it into the speaker. It's Bluetooth has got good range. It's durable. It's the right size. Compared to similar products it's a complete bargain.

the speaker sounds great and is durable but has some flaws. I have repeated connection issues with iPhone. It will pair but iTunes won't given me the speaker as an option. I know that sounds like a phone issue, but it only started after downloading ALTEC's companion app. Since then I have to go to Bluetooth settings and connect to the speaker and then connect to the app. For the price it should be simple, turn speaker on, turn Bluetooth on and enjoy. I have noticed with Android phones it is that simple. Problem 2: battery. The battery life is great but when you use the audible battery feature, it pretty much always says "battery life is 100%" until it dies. Doesn't seem like a huge deal but again, for the price it is annoying!

Wanted a speaker for working outside and taking to the beach and lake. I also have a three year old, so needed durability. This thing is a tank and it sounds awesome. Big sound from a small speaker. Only negative is a little heavy, but it has a built in handle which lessens that issue. Impressive battery life as well.

This is an outstanding speaker for anyone who is constantly outdoors. The durability met my expectations and although the battery life didn't quite meet the description, I loved that I could take this baby by the pool or beach and not have to worry about getting sand or water on or near the speaker. The quality of the sound is decent but after watching a video on YouTube comparing the JBL Xtreme and Altec, I took it back and returned it for the JBL only because I prefer to have a louder sound and deeper bass in my music, something the Altec didn't quite meet my requirements for. The JBL is not waterproof and does not float like the Altec but the bass is both deeper and clearer and has an overall better sound. The JBL also has a strap for carrying it, slightly more light weight and makes sense for at home and at work use. However, I will be returning to Best Buy on Friday to purchase the Altec in preparation for a river trip I'm taking next weekend. This way, I can have the best of both worlds owning both of them. If you're on a budget, what it really comes down to between the two speakers is whether or not you prefer durability over sound and whether or not you prefer more bass or more treble. I suggest doing what I did and looking on YouTube at sound comparisons before purchasing either speaker. Overall would highly recommend to family or friends.

Have researched and tried many different BT speakers, looking for extremely loud volume and good quality. This speaker has very good clarity, though maybe some will want more bass to the sound. It gets quite loud, though I'm still looking for one that is louder. Excellent for weather/dust/etc. proof - it's build like a tank - but easy to carry. Not too heavy.

I love this speaker, even with my hearing problems I can clearly hear it even from fifty feet away. The sound quality is better than some stereos I have owned and the power last forever. I also like the fact I can even charge my MP3 player if it dies so I can continue to listen to my music through out the day. Great product!

My last Altech speaker had a micro USB charging port that ultimately stopped working. Wiggling the cord worked for a while and then it wouldn't charge at all. This version uses a more sturdy round barrel jack end that plugs into the speaker for charging. This speaker is large for a bluetooth speaker and this allows for speakers on two sides. It houses another internal battery that allows you to charge a device via a USB cable. It has two USB ports for charging devices, a port for charging itself and a 3.5mm audio input. This unit has amazing sound and battery life. It is expensive but seems to worth the cost. I use it on the patio and it is definitely loud enough for my tastes.

I bought this for a mechanic so it needed to be waterproof and rugged and that is just what I got with this speaker. As the packaging states, it is EVERYTHING proof! Has a handle for easy transport, don't have to worry about dropping it or getting it wet. Win, Win! Has a long battery life even though I wouldn't say that it lasts 50 hours like the packaging states you definitely can get a day or two of steady use without having to charge it. Glad I picked this speaker up even though it is a bit pricey, I think the sound quality can compete with Bose but the fact that it is a rugged speaker was the deciding factor for me.

I love that the speaker can be used in wet environments. It's loud the way I like to hear my music! Only one device can connect at a time. Has a USB to charge other devices while it blasts tunes. Kinda pricey. Could use better bass. I'm a fan

This has to be one of my favorite Bluetooth speakers I have ever purchased great sound love how it is waterproof and dirt proof so we can keep up with my lifestyle all-around love this product would recommend it to anybody !

I have purchased my fair share of Bluetooth speakers but this one is the best!! It's sound is so clear, the speaker is able to get loud enough for outdoor activities, it's waterproof so no worries on it getting ruined and all this it a pretty compact speaker size. I mean who wants to roll around their giant speaker just for it to be able to play loud enough for outside? Not me. If you are looking for a speaker then you should consider this one!

After ruminating about the size of a Bluetooth speaker. I'm glad, I bought this. Phenomenonal sound. Would like it too get louder yet. It's size is not cumbersome. But can't complain sound is crisp and equivalent to many non outdoor speakers. This device is definetely rugged. What more can you ask for? It is water and dirt resistant. And it floats. I believe that this is hands down the best portable speaker available

Something to know about speakers is that the higher the volume and depending on content the battery life could be less than advertised on the spec sheet. This was the third try to get a speaker that had a long enough battery life at higher volume to last through her 10 hour shift. This has good sound quality even at high volume (she works in a warehouse environment so it's noisy). If she doesn't use full volume, only up to 3/4 volume this speaker lasts her full 10 hour shift. It is rugged so it handles being on the workbench and bumped without causing damage.

This speaker has good sound, very rugged for the occasional drop. I don’t know about the ability to float in water though since this is pretty heavy

This is a great portable speaker. It is water proof, light weight, long battery life, and great sound. Perfect for outdoor activities and sports.

so i got this bluetooth speaker because my friend has the smaller version and it sounds amazing...love the look and the color and the fact that it's meant to get beat up a bit, but the only bad thing is there's this rattling sound with any song i play...not sure if it's something loose in the speaker itself or if it's supposed to sound like the speaker is blown up from playing on the highest volume for day...i wish altec can take a look at their product because there are smaller bluetooth speakers out there that have a crystal clear sound, so if you love your music and you love your crystal clear no fuzz sound, you probably shouldn't get this

Great sound. Amazing volume. Dynamite comes in small packages. No problem at the beach or the pool, and the charging option is great!
