Q: What exactly can you do with the show8 besides video call which I hate. Only feature I know and love is the recipes stay lit so I don’t have to keep tapping my iPad. What else is Echo good for?

A: Hello CColl! This is a great question! There are a multitude of features you can use the Echo Show 8 for that aren't just video calls! Yes, the recipes feature is tremendous to use, but you can also use the video streaming capabilities of the device for a plethora of streaming services such as Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix, etc. You can also use it for streaming music with your favorite music services such as Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Spotify. In addition to these features, Alexa can be used for numerous other tasks such as controlling smart home devices, being an intercom using a "drop in" or "announcements" feature, securing your home as a security camera that you can access through your Alexa app, and be a link to video doorbells so you can see who is at your door through your doorbell with compatible devices. All of this is just the tip of the iceberg of ways you can utilize your Echo Show 8 but I hope this helps and answers your question a bit! Thanks again for inquiring and I hope you have a phenomenal day!

Q: Hello there. What is the difference between the 8 and the 8 2nd generation.

A: Hi OOWEE577, There are main differences include the following: Echo Show 8 1st gen has a 1MP camera with built-in shutter and the 2nd Gen has a 13 MP camera with auto-framing. 1st gen has one 2.0” (52 mm) neodymium speakers with passive bass radiator and the 2nd gen has 2 x 2.0" speakers Overall the second generation has a better camera and sound than the first generation! Hope that helps.

Q: The all family use iPhone, echo show is compatible with apple device

A: Hello Fred! I believe you are asking if you can use the Echo Show with an iPhone? There is an Alexa app available for download on the Apple AppStore which allows you to utilize the full extent of what the Echo Show can offer. Also, since the Show is a screened device, you can even use and set it up without using an app at all. You can just follow the onscreen instructions and the device is a full featured touch screen. I hope this answers your question and you have an amazing day!

Q: Can you show a side-by-side checklist of Features comparing the 8 second generation to the 10 third generation please

A: Dee, Hello! I can't do a side by side on here but, I can tell you in a snap shot quickly...starting with the SHOW8: The new Echo Show 8 has some great upgraded features. The device now has a 13 MP camera that is built to keep you in frame! The camera has auto-framing that can zoom and tilt to always keep you in frame and centered for video calls. You can also look in when you're away with the built-in camera. The Echo Show 8 gives you control of compatible devices like cameras, lights, and more using the interactive display, your voice, or your motion. Show10: Move around the room during video calls or while you're cooking along to a recipe and the brilliant 10.1" HD screen will automatically turn to face you! Catch up with your favorite people without having to worry about staying in frame, the 13mp camera can zoom in and pan out to make sure you are centered! Take a look around when you're away! Watch your shows with the premium sound that adapts to the space you're in and so much more... I hope this helps explain some of the features of the Echo SHOW8 compared to the SHOW10

Q: Will I be able to connect the Nest/Google video doorbell, thermostats, indoor and outdoor cameras to this 2nd gen Echo 8? I was also told you can't watch YouTube?

A: Hello, Chanimal23! Yes! You can access your Nest/Google doorbell, thermostat, and other cameras on your Echo Show 8. All you would need to do is enable the Nest skill in the Alexa App and that will link all of your Nest devices to Alexa. As far as YouTube goes, you can access it on the device, but it is not through an app. It is accessible through the web browser on the device. Simply say, "Alexa, show me cat videos on YouTube" and she will pull it up for your! Have a great day!

Q: Can you do a zoom meeting on this device?

A: Hello, Lucy! Yes! You can Zoom through the Echo Show 8. You can ask Alexa to join a zoom meeting. Depending on how you have it set up, you may need to enter a meeting ID and/or a passcode. I hope that helps! Have a great day!

Q: If I’m away from the house and my cat dies well Alexa contact me and let me know I heard this is a new feature added this year

A: Hello Burnsiecat, you want to know if the Amazon Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen) Smart Display with Alexa will contact you if your cat dies when you are away from home as you heard this was an added feature. Seems like you are referring to Alexa Guard and Alexa Guard Plus, which will be able to notify of sounds and events that happen in your home when it is activated. These sounds and events can be glass break, smoke and CO2 alarms, as well as dog bark, cough, water sound and others. Hope this has answered your question. Have an amazing day!
