We own several Amazon Dots, so we bought the new Spot at BB's Black Friday half-price sale to see how it compared (retails at $80 vs the Dot's $40-$50 price). We enjoy the skills and convenience of the Dots, so we compared features. We think the Spot's premium sound is comparable to the 5th generation Dot (which we prefer, actually). The face of the Spot is ok, but for some of us, it's a little difficult to read the time & weather in the morning without glasses. There are option widgets available but none that I find solve the problem. Either the time is large and the weather too small, or the opposite. When Alexa tells you the weather, however, the display enlarges. In any case, we believe that Amazon's Dots & Spots are fantastic little personal assistants streaming with entertainment!

I was skeptical about getting Alexa. Because I have Google in my home. But It was absolutely the best thing I ever purchased. I love the voice on it that talks to you and answers questions. It also shows the date and the time and temperature outside. You can just tell it to set an alarm and it does and then it says something like have a good night sleep it’s small it fits right on my nightstand perfectly I’m ready to switch everything over to Alexa. I highly recommend this.

What I like ✅ Excellent bedside companion – Displays the time, weather, alarms, calendar reminders, and song titles at a glance. ✅ Alexa built in – Set alarms, timers, reminders, control smart home devices, ask questions, and play music hands-free. ✅ Surprisingly good sound – Richer audio than most alarm clocks, making it great for podcasts, audiobooks, and casual music listening. ✅ No camera – Unlike the original Echo Spot, the 2024 model removed the camera, which many people prefer for bedroom privacy. ✅ Customizable clock faces with different colors and styles. ✅ Compact design that fits nicely on a nightstand or desk. Things to know ⚠️ The 2.8-inch display is small. It's designed for quick information, not for browsing or watching videos. ⚠️ No video streaming or video calls. If you want YouTube, Netflix, recipes, or security camera feeds, you'll want an Echo Show instead. ⚠️ Music sounds very good for its size but can lose clarity at higher volumes. Who should buy it? It's a great choice if you want to: Wake up with custom alarms. Listen to music or podcasts. Get weather and calendar updates. Control smart lights, plugs, or thermostats. Use Alexa without a large screen. Who should skip it? Consider an Echo Show 5 or Echo Show 8 if you want: Video calls. Watching videos. Viewing Ring or security cameras. Cooking with on-screen recipes. A larger touchscreen.

Color is nice. Sometimes it hesitates for a while before answering or it doesn’t seem to understand what you’re asking. Nice speaker. Music sounds good considering the speaker size. I’ve had it a couple months and it’s ok; not great but it’s ok.
This review is from Amazon - Echo Spot (2024 release), Smart alarm clock with vibrant sound and Alexa - Ocean Blue

The new Echo Spot is terrific! It is small enough so it doesn’t take up much space. Yet … it is packed with a lot of all the great features of the larger devices. To be able to see the time during the night is probably one of its best features, My other Echo Shows dim the screen so that the time is difficult to see at night. And this Echo does not have any of those annoying ads popping up all the time!

My boys use it for the alarm to get up for school, and it is diversity mixes with personal desired outcome options. It comes in several different colors to choose from with many options for the alarms or display features. We have a Nintendo account that synchronizes different sounds as an alarm feature from many popular Nintendo games that my boys play. It's much easier to hear that sound in the morning for us adults too. It knows when my sons get out of bed and will shut off the alarm on its own. It's really awesome.

This is a very handy and great performing gadget. It doesn't take up space. It responds quickly and displays the time date and weather. It works well with the other Alexa products I have. I keep it on my desk. Speaker works well enough and it really is what I needed.

Needed something with a time display for the bathroom. This fits the bill, connects to our phones very easy (iPhones). Handy little device.

Love my alexa, love that it is not flat and the time can be looked at from the bed or chair

Great sound for such a small product. I wanted a cheap Alexa device to see how the AI comes along. So far, happy with the purchase.
This is a good Echo Show even though the screen is smaller than it looks. It has all the options you would expect from a Show of this size. The screen is easy to read and the sound is better than many of the Dot versions. I think the MSRP price is high for this device, so I feel I did get my moneys worth getting the unit for $50.

I really love this echo spot. It does all that Alexa is supposed to do and yet it looks good on my night stand. I bought the blue one and I really like the color. I own several of the original dots so when I seen this echo spot I said why not.

This thing is fabulous. I literally bought several so that my mom could set them around the house. She lives in a two-story house and we connect them to her phone so that if she falls she can yell and call us!

Hi Kimberly,
Thank you so much for sharing this — what a wonderful and creative use of the Echo Spot! We love hearing how customers find new ways to use our devices, and using multiple Echo Spots as a safety net for your mom is truly brilliant.
The ability to connect them throughout the house and use them as an intercom system gives real peace of mind, especially in a two-story home. Knowing your mom can simply call out for help from any room is exactly the kind of hands-free convenience Alexa was designed for.
A quick tip — if you haven't already, you can also set up Alexa's Fall Detection features and Emergency Contacts through the Alexa app, which adds another layer of safety for your mom.
Thank you for being such a thoughtful daughter, and we're thrilled the Echo Spot is helping keep your family connected and safe. Enjoy!
