We use to have a Galaxy Tab A that we used on a daily basis, but after 3 years, wear and juice consumption it was no more. This was the best choice for my son. He has pre-picked videos for his choosing and more options for his brain to expand.

Bought this on black friday. Great tablet for the price. ($80) Also Freetime adds a ton of apps and audible books and ebooks for free for a year. It runs Minecraft but just barely, vary choppy. Need to put all video settings to the lowest setting in game. Minecraft for kindle is $6.99 and it is cross compatible. In hindsight, I would prob buy the 10HD to be able to play games better. But the 8HD serves its purpose well. (Apps and books) Con: Dont like how invasive Freetime is with your child's info. You have to give lots of permissions that seem unnecessary. Like recording voice prompts...

My son is a self-proclaimed hacker & at 8yrs old he’s pretty savvy wi/ both Android & Apple phones & tablets. So I purchased this tablet to have more parental control over his internet activity, specifically w/ online chatting, gaming, downloading apps, inn-app purchases, YouTube content, & streaming live & other regular recordings of himself that caught audio of his Dad & I in the background unknowingly sharing our private info publicly on the web. To my relief all of these issues & more, are easily resolved via your parental account that you custom fit to your needs by going thru the restrictions menu that has more options then I’ve seen on any other tablet & then choose the ones you desire. My personal favorite is the curfew restriction which turns off his tablet & gives him what our family calls “Screen Time Out” to in sure that he’s not playing on it for an unhealthy amount of time. Absolutely love it!!!!

My almost 3 year old loves this thing as well as us parents. Having this in a tablet holder on the back of the seat during a long car ride is a huge plus. Only downfall is you need a internet connection unless you download the movies/shows straight to the tablet. This in turn requires that you buy a SD Card on it as it will fill up quick. My daughter loves the learning games that are available as well, just wish Youtube Kids was available on it. Though this is no fault of the tablet, but of Amazon. The rugged case that comes with it is a big plus. This thing has been dropped numerous times and zero damages to the tablet. Highly recommend for kids.

Great screen size with excellent display. It is fast and easy to use with strong case. Parental controls and screen time options give safeguards to adult. Freetime provides games, videos and books.

Amazon - Fire HD Kids Edition - 8 is excellent for young children. You can set up their own profile and load just what you want them to see and do. It also comes with great choices of games and things for young children to do. My grand daughter just loves it.

This Amazon Fire HD Kids Edition was a replacement for my daughter's 2+ years old Fire Kids 7"(still working, but time for an upgrade). It has increased memory, a larger screen and a slightly faster processor. It handles Roblox and Minecraft Story mode without a problem. Streaming is also seamless and doesn't need to be reconnected to the wireless network very often (if ever) The battery life is slightly better than the older one, even considering that it has s a larger and higher resolution display. Finally, your amazon Freetime subscription is extended by purchasing the new tablet, which is a $60 value for a current user.

I just bought my daughter the newest edition of the Amazon Kids Fire Kindle. We had a first generation for years. The storage was VERY minimal and it had no drive for an SD memory card. So it was extremely limited. My daughter had to delete a game or more to be able to download a new one. This new 8th generation has a ton of storage and also has a drive for an SD card for additional storage. My daughter no longer has to delete ANYTHING! Also the screen size is perfect for her too.

Purchased for an across-country plane ride with a two-year old and it delivered! Access to tons of games, movies, books and other fun activities kept our two-year old entertained (before falling asleep!!) only knock is that it seems a bit slower to process and thus launch apps than the iPad models - but at a much lower price point and kid-friendly.

This is a great tablet for very little kids. We purchased this tablet along with a Fire HD10 tablet the same day. Our 5 year old liked his tablet for the first few weeks until he learned ours has much more to offer! It’s nice because on the kids tablet you can limit how much screen time is allowed every day and what time it “shuts down” for the night. Definitely a lot to do on this tablet for young children. The price is pretty reasonable as well and comes with the cover.

I am really happy with this tablet. It is light weight and it holds up really well. I gave it to my 5 year after she broke her ipad. The amazon fire in my opinion is better for kids because its more educational. The parental controls are great. So many games and books can be downloaded on to this. I've even found that the games have been fun for the whole family. Nice size for travel

I like the bigger screen and when creating the child profile its only on things children watch. I don't remember that the 7 was like that. Anyway great purchase!

Perfect for kids. Easy to use and set parental controls. Has just enough power to do basic tablet things and the case is great for little hands.

Let’s say it’s completely different then a regular tablet for your kids to use. Only kid filtered games videos etc... are available to your child. You can set the timer on when to turn on or off and amount of time for the day they can use it. Only downside is I haven’t figure out to turn it off for a period during the day but turning back on for a period before bedtime
