    The Super Kindle (in Color)!

This is my review of the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, Amazon's newest and largest (at 11 inches) Kindle e-reader. The Scribe Colorsoft is not a tablet in the average sense, like a Fire, Samsung Tab or an Apple iPad even though it resembles them in general appearance. The Colorsoft is a device that uses a front lit Kaleido 3 color e-paper display. Since the tech behind the screen is different, the colors the Scribe produces are not as vivid or vibrant as the traditional tablet, but for someone wanting or needing a device that is easier to read for longer sessions causing less eyestrain, the Scribe Colorsoft is ideal. As well as reading, the Scribe Colorsoft is also a writing device. It comes with the Scribe Premium Pen and five extra pen nibs included. The pen does not need to be charged since it operates elecromagnetically with the device screen. The pen and screen combintion, with its anti-glare coating, produce a more satisfying writing feel than an iPad or similar tablet. As this is the 3rd generation Scribe the note taking capabilities have improved immensely. Folder managment has also been improved over the original Scribe. AI features of the Scribe include converting handwriting to text in several different styles and also summarizing either a notebook page or an entire notebook. These features work very well and are fairly quick. Another highly useful feature is word search in your handwritten notes. Hand writing recognition is very accurate. More AI features are slated to be added in future updates. I am giving the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft my highest recommendation since I believe it is the best implementation of the Kaleido color e-ink technology to be found at this time.

    Not worth the money

After a month of using it, I almost started loving it, but then one day turned on my ipad after a long time and it felt like I traveled in time to 20 years later. Yeah kindle is nice and fast and definitely way less annoying than competitors that have huge lagging and ghosting issues. But still compared to an ipad or most android tablets that are way cheaper, it has absolutely nothing extra to offer except the e-ink screen itself. **So if e-ink is a must have feature for you, buying kindle scribe colorsoft makes sense, otherwise, nope** Software: The software is terribly limited, marking up a pdf is limited to just ‘underlines and highlights’ and adding notes is so bad and restrictive that I would say near impossible. Feeling like a paper: Without backlight, kindle colorsoft is not usable as it’s barely visible, so you have to not only turn on the backlight, you should set it to a high brightness level too; so it’s no more giving you “paper-like feeling”. I bought an anti glare and anti scratch screen protector for my ipad, and it is no longer much behind kindle in terms of eye comfort and reflection blocking. Kindle still ahead but not significantly. AI: the only AI abilityKindle has, is summarizing your notes, which will take a few minutes to finish, even if your note is like 5 or 6 sentences. While reading a pdf, you can just select exactly one world and search to see wikipedia results for it or translate it. It can’t do anything if you select more than one word. Pencil: Kindle pencil is definitely the one things they beat both tablet and competitor e-ink companies. It’s a 10/10. Beautiful, practical, easy to use and has no delay. Note taking: Just copy, cutting, pasting and changing colors which I assume should be enough for most users. But not for me. File organization: just awful and annoying. After a month I have not still get used to how limited it is. File transferring is not much better. You have to install multiple app on your phone or laptop or email your pdfs too an address and then wait 10-30 minutes so that kindle shows it in your library. Transferring files larger than 200Mbps needs just 30 minutes of instruction and a usb-c cable. Battery: With backlight on, kindle loses the long promised battery life, so you pretty well have to charge it every two days and charging it is not fast either. Overall: I do not recommend a kindle over tablets for: 1- Researchers who need to read detailed articles with colorful curves and plots. I can’t distinguish between blue and purple on kindle most of the times. 2- Those who want closes experience to note taking on paper-> there are better e-inks 3- Those who like to use AI and useful adds-on tool to optimize their reading experience. If you want interactive screen, no e-ink is good for you. 4- Those that don’t have very sensitive eyes.

    I love it

I love it! Ive never had anything like it before. I bought it just to read the bible before I go to sleep. I love that you are able to make notes and it saves all of them on the page itself and on a separate notes page. Im sure I will start reading other things as well because it makes it very easy to read anywhere at anytime and the battery last fir a very long time.

    Great for notes and Journaling

I would give a full 5 stars if the price I purchased at was the real price. However, I got it deeply on sale. I love this device but Amazon has made it a bit clunky in terms of imports. For example, I am editing my work and each time I’ve added writing I import a new version of the same document. You cannot change the name once it’s on the device so I never know which edit I am opening. The other issue I found frustrating is the process of purchasing books and having them show up on your device. This process is also clunky and it has confusing naming for ‘kindle books’ and ‘books’. It’s as if there’s separate sections but it’s not exactly clear what goes where. I still don’t even fully understand it to explain clearly on this review. This is more of a fault of Amazon and not the device itself. Aside from these issues, I’ve enjoyed my kindle. This is my first kindle ever and I had been looking at it regularly waiting for it to go on sale. The color is amazing, and it is great on the eyes. I feel refreshed after using it unlike an iPad or computer. It is a device in its own category, there is nothing quite like what it focuses on providing. It’s great for notes and journaling. The screen feels closest to writing on paper when compared to an iPad. Its battery life is AMAZING. I never worry about power. I love it overall so far. If you’re looking for an iPad this is not for you. If you’re looking for a journal, reading device, and hands on editing machine this is it!

A good notetaking and reading device

it has a very high-quality screen that feels comfortable when writing on it. It’s productive for both taking notes and reading books. The Workspace allows me to organize all my documents and notebooks as Kindle always prioritize reading over notetaking. I hope there will be more notetaking features coming out soon.
