A really good cpu for those on a budget however If you’re upgrading in the near future plan on something a little better. Overall a really great cpu and would definitely buy again if I ever have to build a new system

The CPU performs as expected, however the stock cooler is pretty terrible. Don't know whether to fault that on the thermal paste, or the cooler itself. My thermal paste came with something in it on the very corner. No idea what it could be, but it was on it when i first unboxed it. The only other thing about this is the shipping. The shipping is what really infuriated me. This is probably just the fault of the shipping company, but the estimates were WAYYY off. The CPU ended up arriving last in my build, when it estimated to be the first one to arrive. CPU arrived i think an entire week (probably less) then it originally estimated for. When running a prime 95 (second option) on it, the cpu reaches 90C after about 5 minutes and almost 95C in 8 minutes. The CPU then heavily thermal throttles (down from like 4.2ghz i think, to 3.7ghz at the lowest). If you pick this one up, make sure you have your OWN cpu cooler and thermal paste!

Great budget processor and the on sale price was fabulous.

It's a great processor for a budget build. It's an am4 chip so it slowly becoming outdated but would recommend it. Other than the 5600x.

One of the best price to performance cpus for a budget

For what it is, it doesn’t do half bad for Live streaming and gaming. I’ve had it in my new build for 2 weeks and so far so good. ☺️ it can handle multiple tasks at once!

Love the new cpu i just built my buddys pc runs amazing will have to get another one to build another

Bought this as an upgrade from a Ryzen 3 2300x. Clock speeds were as advertised and installation went smoothly. I would definitely recommend this as an upgrade from any 4 core ryzen CPU or an alternative to the Ryzen 5 3600

First CPU upgrade have done and 100% agree with my decision. Only thing is next motherboard time.

The cpu cooler it comes with really helped! Was easy to install for my first time ever installing a pc part!

Great Mid Tier gaming cpu can run any game I throw at it

amazing quality right out of the box, no signs of shipping damage. everything works perfectly, came in about 2-3 days, great value for $100

The cpu came in the mail perfect no bent pins my pc is built on am4 for budget build I got it for 75 dollar from price matching with amazon.

Great cpu especially on a budget. Would buy again.

Excelent CPU for the price, a little bit better that the 3600

This cpu did not bottle neck my rtx 4060 I reccomend this cpu

I recently upgraded to the AMD Ryzen 5 5500, and I’m genuinely impressed with how much value this CPU delivers. For a mid-range chip, it punches way above its weight. Multitasking feels smooth, everyday workloads run effortlessly, and it handles gaming surprisingly well—especially when paired with a decent GPU. Temperatures stay under control, even under load, and the installation was quick and painless. What stands out most is the price-to-performance ratio: you get 6 cores, 12 threads, and consistently solid speeds without breaking the bank. If you’re building a budget-friendly system or upgrading an older one, the Ryzen 5 5500 is an amazing choice. Fast, efficient, reliable, and affordable—exactly what you want in a CPU!

My mother bought this for a new system after finding out her old Socket AM4 processor would not work with her new motherboard due to being incompatible. Her old Processor is an AMD Ryzen 2700x 8-core CPU. She chose this due to price as well as compatibility. She also likes how much faster this processor is with less cores than her old one. The only thing she doesn't like is the fact that it's a downgrade as far as cores go. She uses it just for browsing the internet, paying a few bills online, buying things online sometimes, and watching videos on YouTube.
