Temperature control comes from the adjustable air vents and the tilt-away hood. The vents let you feed or slow the fire, and the hood swings away so you can check, turn, or move food without lifting a hot lid off the grill. An elevated ash dump sits under the firebox to help the charcoal light and come up to temperature quickly, and it makes clearing out spent ash easier once the cookout is over.
