In his upcoming album, «Brightlight,» Cohen showcases his multifaceted talents alongside a stellar ensemble of musicians. Among these are some of the brightest young talents from the new jazz scene, including drummer Roni Kaspi, pianist Guy Moskovich, his working core trio as the centre on many of the titles and joined by saxophonist Yuval Drabkin and many others hand-picked talented artists. Roni Kaspi brings a youthful vigor to the album, infusing the music with a sense of spontaneity and drive. After more than 3 years of touring with Avishai Cohen, she's even got a dedicated title on this recording (InchRoni's SwingInch), wrote by Cohen as an homage to her dynamic and energetic drumming. Guy Moskovich, a pianist whose harmonic sensibilities and technical prowess have garnered him recognition as a rising star in jazz, provides the perfect complement to Cohen's bass lines. Yuval Drabkin, on saxophone, adds another layer of richness to the extensive ensemble. The world's pause caused by the Covid-19 pandemic created rifts in regular patterns and collaborations. Pianist Anat Fort found herself effectively separated from her regular trio of bassist Gary Wang and Roland Schneider for the first time in the trio's 20 years of existence. When an opportunity arose to bring the trio together to perform in Germany, Fort seized on the chance to regroup and record an album that goes against the group's typical formula on The Berlin Sessions. The Pinheiro-Ineke-Cavalli trio departs from a musical relationship developed in the last five years by the historic Dutch drummer Eric Ineke, the Italian double-bass player Massimo Cavalli and Portuguese guitarist Ricardo Pinheiro. After their recording collaboration as a quintet with the famous saxophonist David Liebman and pianist Mário Laginha in 'Is Seeing Believing?' these three experienced musicians developed a studio trio conversation departing mainly from jazz standards arranged especially for this project. This trio has played several concerts in Portugal that resulted in the development of a group sound that, coming from the jazz tradition, incorporates new and creative ways of approaching jazz repertoire. The international character of this trio brings a fresh, diverse and complying sound that will certainly please jazz aficionados.
