A: Nov 2023. It does however have an Apple M3, which is the newest processor from Apple silicon. (Not quite as good as the pro or max, but they are much more expensive). I do software development, gaming (newer triple a games), and virtualization with parallels just fine on this model.
A: Get 16GB RAM minimum, because you cannot upgrade Macs at all (like most laptops these days). You might not need all of it now, but you'll be glad you did later, you'll be able to use your MacBook for longer...a bit more "future proof". 8GB shouldn't even be sold as standard for any computer in 2024, IMO it's kind of ridiculous thar manufacturer still start at 8GB. Also worth mentioning - Apple Silicon (M series chips) use unified memory, meaning RAM is a shared resource w/ the GPU, so the more RAM you have the less likely that the CPU & GPU will be competing for resources.
