I thought I would be extremely happy when I upgraded from my 2012 15” MacBook Pro with an i7 2.3Ghz and a 2GB additional video card, which I upgraded to 8GB Corsair RAM and a Samsung 500GB SSD. This 2017 15” model contains an additional 4GB video card, 16GB RAM, 500Gb Flash Storage, and an i7 2.9Ghz processor, and 802.11ac capable. I am not impressed, I don’t do reviews much, I’d have a You Tube channel if I did. My 2012 MacBook Pro is just as fast, if not faster processing same workload than this 2017 model with hyped up specs. Even when I boot up the computer, my 2012 model boots up faster. I purchased this one thinking the processor and the Flash Storage would make it faster, not the case. I do like the display and the touch bar is useful. I’m not going to sit here and tell you not to buy it, it’s your money. I will says that if you have an older model (2012 and Up).. look into updating your hard drive, RAM, and as far as the 5Ghz network you can purchase the Linksys USB that works with MAC and you’ll have a fast computer with 802.11ac capable... for way less. If you’re just wanting the touchbar and higher video card, plus other not so necessary updates, then upgrade. If you have any questions, I will be glad to answer. Just remember that it’s my personal opinion and I’m being brutally honest. The computer works fine, I’m giving it 3 stars because I feel no difference using this one than using my older 2012. Also, I didn’t talk about all the specs on the 2017 so ask questions if you need to please.

I’ve been a long time Mac user. I shoot photos and video of weddings, portraits, travel and lifestyle. My old MBP ( Mac book pro) was from 2011. It STILL RUNS but the processor and editing power isn’t enough for 4k video and multi screen editing. This computer is fantastic, I’m flying through Final Cut Pro, Lightroom, photoshop and it is handling it no problems. It makes my work flow so incredibly quick. If you are looking for a work horse this is your computer. If you are just browsing the web and watching YouTube save your money and get the regular MacBook.

I love the speed and performance but don't like that I have to pay extra for all the ports that are not on it from previous versions!

I mean for the price I paid I didn't expected to have that many issues with the usb-c ports. my last MacBook Pro lasted more than 7 years , but I have feeling this one if im lucky will last me 3 to 4 years. when I connect 3 usb-c external drives at a time , I have to becareful when connecting them . I should do one at a time or my MacBook will crash. I call the support they made me to some restarting and flushing . in the end they replaced the board for the usb-c , but I still have the same issue. I always liked MacBook, and I love the OS. but I doubt my next laptop be MacBook. for the priced I paid I hoped it wouldn't give me that much issue . oh and the Touch Bar is nice, but I barely use it for anything. I expect with limited port apple gives me , at lease those ports would work 100%. if you only connect one external at the time this product works great, but other than that well do it one at a time and make sure the first is mounted before connecting the other one. I sure wished I would have punched the older model

I love how I can connect my iCloud and all my messages and emails get forwarded here. It’s so easy and I really love the display and resolution it provides as well as the touch little icon. It’s so useful.

It was a delight getting the Macbook Pro touch bar and excellent delivery to boost morals.

Let me say this my MacBook Pro is all that and then some I love the fact of how quick it turns on I love to touch ID I am so slow on MacBook and love the Professional Service I received at Best Buy

Once you go with a MAC, you don't want a PC anymore. Love the battery life and graphics. I also bought the external CD player, but wish it was still in the computer.

I finally decided to purchase this 2017 MacBook Pro after owning a late 2008 Aluminum MacBook that I've kept running for 9 years. Since it is no longer upgradeable, I elected to purchase the 15" MBP. So far, its operation is blazing fast and buttery smooth. I love the high resolution display, especially since I use it for a lot of photo editing. The separate discreet graphics card is a huge performance plus for editing photos and working with graphics. I am discovering the benefits of the touch bar, which makes many tasks more accessible, especially for word processing. Ergonomically, the machine is great, although the low-travel keyboard takes some adjustment. I do like the extra screen real-estate that the 15" provides, even though there are times when I wish I could have the portability of the smaller 13". This isn't a huge issue since the 15" comes in a thin package. All-in-all, I am loving this MacBook Pro. If there were one complaint, it would have to be the cost factor. I purchased this on sale, but it still is a pretty steep price tag. I don't find that a worthy enough reason for a lesser rating. This is a fine machine.

So I finally decided to spend the money on one of the most expensive laptops on the market. Even though it is pricey, it was worth every penny! I purchased the MacBook Pro 2017 15.4 inch, 2.9GHz, 512 SSD with Touch Bar. After reading reviews and doing my research I was a bit apprehensive since I had always been a windows user and had never touched a MacBook in my life. I've had an iPhone for quite many years and was familiar with Mac's Os and it kind of made the transiition a little less scarier. I recieved a $150 discount do to a price match from Amazon and that made the thought of me spending almost $3,000 on a laptop somehow a little less stressful. Unboxing my brand new MacBook Pro was exciting and Awesome! As soon as I got it out of the box I knew I had purchased a Beautiful laptop! Set up was a breeze and once I got to learning the intricacies of using a Mac I became extremely comfortable. I can not overstate how fast this thing is and how quick the responsiveness is. The display is perfect and crystal like. The Trackpad takes a few movements to get used to, but once you do you will be off to the races. I've read other reviews where ppl were no too fond of the keyboard, but I like it and have no complaints. The touch bar is very cool and does come in handy! Battery life I can honestly say I haven't really got into intensive usage yet to really test it, but so far so good. Overall if your thinking about taking the plunge into a new Macbook, I suggest spend the extra money if you're able to and know that you have purchased a laptop that you know is future proof where you won't have to worry about it being obsolete in a few years. That is one of the main reasons ns I got the MacBook Pro. Plus its pretty powerful! Good Luck!

This is one great laptop! It was fast and real easy to set up and use even with my printer. It has vibrant color, is light weight, charges quickly and holds charge for hours. The Touch Bar is great for adjusting the sound, brightness, asking Siri a question, Touch ID, using emojis, split screen, searching for something on the Web, and more! You can even answer your text messages from this laptop. The key broad is nice, the keys are almost like velvet to the touch and work effortlessly, it has a large trackpad although a mouse may be used according to your preference. I can't say enough about this computer and have no complaints about it. If you're looking for a nice one this is it! I highly recommended it!

I thought about replacing my old MacBook Pro which was smaller then this computer. I am satisfied with my purchase due to the fact that I was able to get a huge discount on this computer. I saved $484 however the computer was open box which I knew all about how that goes at Best Buy. I wanted this computer because it has more hard drive space and Apple does let you upgrade your hard drive in their well your computers. So I had no other choice but to upgrade. It took me a while before I brought this computer. I went to the Apple store and Best Buy several of times to look and play around with the computer. I would say the touch bar is the main reason I brought this computer but I rarely use the touch bar but I guess it will take some time getting use to it. I love the fact that I can use my finger to unlock my computer also you can add more than one fingerprint. This computer has a fast processor, enough hard drive space to I can store my pictures, music, and documents. The only complaint I have about the computer the price tag for new is $2799 but I was able to get it for $2,300. The computer look brand new and when I got home I did reset it and add a firmware password on my computer to protect it if anyone tires to steal it. However, if you are looking for a fast computer with a bright screen also touch bar this is the MacBook Pro for you which you will not regret. If you are going to purchase this computer I do recommend you go into the store and see what the open box price is because online the price was $120. So make sure you go into the store and see what the price is before you buy it.

Light as a feather —powerhouse computer!!! I am an Apple fan – atic! This is my second MacBook Pro. And this one I can hold in the palm of my hand and it’s literally light as a feather. What a powerful & screaming fast machine this is!!! Bought it for my daughter entering her freshman year of college and she is in seventh heaven. Loads of room for all her pics, music and yes for her college work as well. LOL. Darn I wanted one for myself —it was all I could do not to buy two of them. The folks in the Gainesville store are very helpful & knowledgeable. Noah was the best associate ever and the store manager gave us 18 months financing instead of 12 months although I was a bit ticked when I went back a week later and they were offering 36 months financing for anything over 999 and this was close to 3300. However, they gave us free shipping and price matched us down from $3300 to $3100. They also offered a free geek squad learning session (great idea if you didn’t know how to use the MacBook) but we are all Mac experts in our household. I highly recommend this product & as with all Apple products you’ll get great support. I did buy the AppleCare (first time ever) since it was my youngest child. I couldn’t send her off to college without knowing that she was in good hands if she ran into any snags of any sort - I knew that Apple would take good care of her. The only negative was it was out of stock and my daughter had to wait five days (which seemed an eternity to an 18-year-old) waiting for her brand new computer.

Bought this as an upgrade to the 2015 Model since that was sold to my brother as he wanted to get into Mac world. Love the new touch bar which adds more features than most give it credit for. You can pause videos, switch between tabs, get shortcuts to webpages, get typing shortcuts and next word suggestion, send emojis, etc. all on the touch bar which changes based on what you are currently viewing or what activity you are doing or working on. Touch ID is also a welcomed feature for me. Price is a bit steep, but with flash storage, it will last you for as long as you take care of it. Computers in general are getting expensive, and now it seems Apple is cheaper than some Windows Laptops such as the Surface lineup. I have an Apple Watch and an iPhone and the continuity between them all is just so seamless. Don't hesitate. Just buy it and you will thank me later.

I had been nursing a weary Windows XP desktop as my main home computer for too many years and was looking for a powerful option that could also handle an extensive music library and photo collection. My wife had been running a smaller MacBook for just over a year and I also have an I-phone... So it made sense to get another Mac product for compatibility reasons alone. This MacBook Pro has been a revelation to me. I have been using PC's at home and at work for many years and was worried that I would struggle with a new operating system but the software is very intuitive and I had the machine fully operational right out of the box.... and what a machine! Beautiful design and solid construction make it a pleasure to use. The battery life is stunning and the screen resolution is truly amazing. I was concerned that going from my 24" monitor on my PC to a small 15" laptop would be prohibitive but I have not had any problems with real estate and have found it very easy to use the track-pad as an input device for basic photo editing. The tricky little 'power bar" or whatever it's called, is still a bit of a novelty item to me but I keep forgetting to use its options! As I become more familiar with the machine, I'm sure I will utilize it more. I do like the fingerprint recognition option for logging in...that is very cool tech. I keep discovering more and more clever little tidbits-bits within the Mac software and I must confess, I am not missing the Windows OS one bit. I like to think that I am more protected by using Mac OS but I am working with a trial subscription to BitDefender security software and will probably add that full time in a few weeks. It seems to be a very reliable piece of kit and doesn't affect operating speed at all. All in all, I am really happy with this purchase and once again received excellent retail service at my local Best Buy. I made sure to visit the store on a weekday afternoon when the staff were not so busy and was able to spend quality time with a sales assistant to get my questions answered. It looks like we are an Apple family now!

Wow! This MacBook is a beautifully crafted laptop. It is very powerful and a joy to use. I run two 27” monitors off of it, but sometimes I prefer working off of the MacBook itself. I really enjoy the touchpad and the keyboard and I am growing to love the touchbar. I do video and image editing and this laptop makes my work fly.

Great Design, Best performance, great battery backup, best user friendly product. and has great features. five stars.

So to be clear, the aggravating issue is easily resolved, but pathetic that it exists. Apple’s reward for being a loyal customer and having an iPhone is this: you need to buy a special cable just to hook your phone to your new laptop. This only applies to the most recent MacBooks. If I had a new android phone with USB-C, I could have used the included cable and hooked right up. Not with an iPhone though! Other than this, the computer is quick, efficient and easy to operate!
