I attempted to purchase this model Macbook from the Marketplace seller JemJem. Upon receiving it, I came to find it was not the model I'd ordered, but a model very similar that could go unnoticed to someone who wasn't knowledgeable enough to catch it. I'd brought up the discrepancy with a Rep from JemJem who assured that it was the correct model listed, and even boasted that it's kept record of and tracked with their serial numbers. After proving it was incorrect despite their claim otherwise, they changed their tune and promptly asked that I return the unit. As this is a laptop I need for work, this problem has already become detrimental to me along with now having to format the unit (which did not come properly formatted in the first place), then ship it back across the country during the holiday season, after being promised to be shipped the correct model once the return was received. Now nearly a month later, still without a laptop for what I've needed, I see that they've issued a refund suddenly, and upon inquiring about this I'm now told that they will not be shipping me the model I've ordered at all, because it's a high demand item and is out of stock without an estimated restock. Honestly this part astounded me the most, as it's a refurb unit and I'm the one who purchased it along with being available to be sent to me only days prior, it has suddenly dissappeared. Now after a month of unnecessary stress and frustration, I don't have what I've been trying to purchase the entire time, I've lost out on income for work I'm now behind on, and have had my money, essentially held ransom for this entire time as well, So I've been unable to even attempt to purchase another laptop. Genuinely I am disgusted by the handling at every step of this and the extremely deceptive and harmful behaviour to consumers from both JemJem and Best Buy, because I wish that was it, but there's more. After the continual issue with JemJem, I reached out to Best Buy's live rep chat via the website, and upon having to start the chat process again midway through, I explained the situation and stress it's caused me to the rep and was met with sarcastic comments such as "You're welcome!", as if they'd done me a favor. After confirming it was an actual person I was chatting with and not an AI Rep, I was extremely disappointed to see that behaviour tolerated toward customers, as I'd been nothing but the most cooperative as I could to this point. I'd become informed that, 'Because they'd issued the refund, there's nothing that they'll do, and I'd have to place a new order.' Which screams even more shady business practice to go right along with the deception and fraudulent recordkeeping already at hand. In one last attempt for amends to be made to the problem before contacting consumer protection agencies, I reached out to the Facebook Page chat Rep and again was told the same bait and switch tactic as the last rep had told me and they'd acted as if the entire situation was everyday business and entirely fine. This has genuinely been the most absurd and unprofessional experience I've ever had with a purchase, and it coming from a place I've spent quite a good deal of money at over the years, especially during my time employed with the company, kills me because I trusted them up until now. I will not shop from a business and/or affiliates if I cannot trust them, and this experience has taken all of it. Something tells me I'm not gonna win the giftcard for the survey haha
