I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t get the protection plan. I’ve personally never dropped or damaged my phone but I can only imagine that something would happen the moment I didn’t have protection

I always buy the Apple Care at Best Buy because it csn be used at thousands of Best Buys nationwide, but also at Apple Stores.
