A: The arris SBG7580-AC router should handle your household quite easily. At times I have (6) cell phones, when the kids stop by , (3) smart Tv, (2) Laptop and (1) desktop (1) Firestick and (2) android tv boxes, home automation/ security hub and (2) echo dots and (1) echo show running plus (2) android tablets and (2) ipads running on my network. At any given time (8) of the devices are running at the same time with no buffering or lag at all. This is my second Arris Modem/Router and for my money you can't go wrong purchasing this router.
A: This unit does not have VoIP capabilities. The SVG2482-AC unit currently assorted at Best Buy does include VoIP specifically for Xfinity subscribers. Sales @ ARRIS SURFboard
Q: Is this modem compatible with optimum cable ?
A: Yes, this modem is compatible.
A: Yes, it can. The firewall used by the router can also be disabled if you would prefer.
Q: Does the Arris surboard AC 1750 automatically update firmware?
A: Yes, it checks for up to date firmware upon first install, as well as every 12 hours beyond that. If there is a pending update from your ISP, it will be applied.

A: There is no port for a phone line. The only input is for a cable wire (line).
