The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 is an incredibly powerful gaming laptop packed into a compact and portable design. The 13.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen looks sharp and smooth, and the 180Hz refresh rate makes gaming, scrolling, and everyday use feel very responsive. With the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor and a massive 128GB of RAM, this machine can easily handle demanding games, video editing, multitasking, and professional workloads. The 1TB SSD also provides fast startup times and plenty of space for games, software, and important files. What I really like about the Flow Z13 is its versatility. It gives you the power of a high-performance gaming laptop while still being lightweight and easy to carry. The touchscreen and tablet-style design also make it useful for presentations, creative work, travel, and entertainment. The Off Black finish gives it a clean and premium look. It is definitely an expensive device, but for someone who needs extreme performance in a compact form, the ROG Flow Z13 is an impressive option. Overall, this is a powerful, portable, and premium gaming laptop that is also suitable for content creators, business professionals, and anyone who needs serious performance on the go.

Sshort and simple. Power: As powerful as a 4070 RTX mobile. Can go as low as 5W. Extremely power efficient. Weight: A light laptop or a very heavy tablet. AI: Can load 120B LLM locally without any issues using LM Studio 30-50 t/ps Battery: Under 10W 8+ Hours. AAA games 1.5-2 hours. Emulations or indie games. 3-5 Hours. These are appoximations and can vary depending on your use case. Display: 180hz 10bit color display is very nice. Overall this device is an engineering marvel and I have no regrets. I did not think I would keep it but it's grown on me. The 8060s iGPU is also worlds faster than 890m in the HX 370 or Z2extreme devices

I spent a good couple weeks with the 64GB version, and only recently this came into stock and I was able to snatch one before they went out of stock again. So far it's had all of the above for a good 2-in-1 for me, good battery life, great for gaming, and amazing for AI work. Expect mid-4060 (laptop) to lower 4070 (laptop) performance from the iGPU. The only caveat I've noticed is the battery life TANKS, and by that I mean truly terrible, if you don't throttle performance while gaming on battery, but that's pretty much within my personal expectation for this device. I have a similar review under the 64GB model, but something I'd like to note for this device: If you're not a developer, a creator, or in the machine learning space, the 128GB is not worth the price tag for you. Many modern gaming laptops can do 90% of what this thing can do at half or less the price.

I was a bit worried about the form factor and to be 100% honest, the battery setup/life isn't ideal if that's what you need this for... but that's where my critical review ends. 128GB ram and a blazing fast processor on something the size of a large tablet is AWSOME. I did order a second power supply because I regularly move my device between my office and my couch and, like I said, battery life doesn't really cut it but I'm almost always next to an outlet so it's not a big deal. I've run dual hypervisors on here while running 4 code-writing codex agents while having 20 tabs open in edge and this thing didn't skip a beat. I literally couldn't see any performance degradation. I mostly work from a NAS so the 1TB thing wasn't a big deal for me either since I only keep current work on-device. Overall, I'm super happy with the purchase.

After having this for at least six months or so I have to admit that it is almost a flawless machine. The only "con" I can think of is that you cannot lift the stand from the left side which is a habbit I have to break still... There is just not a lip or anything to open it with on that side... For the long list of pro's.... - Battery life: partly because Armory Crate from Asus stops windows for periodically checking stuff when asleep or off. I can turn it off or let it sleep in my bag for a week and only loose 2% battery at most. - Performance: So I have thrown everything from LLM models to gaming at this. I would say that its on par if not slightly better than the Apple Macbook Pro 14" notebook I have. I have a 2tb SSD, 128GB of unified memory on that with the M4 Max and top graphics/cpu selection. This still does better at both LLM's and gaming. For games you should expect a RTX 5070 experience +/- 5% depending on the title. The extra Vram actually came in really clutch when Borderlands 4 was launched and bugged out. I dedicated 64GB to Vram and was actually able to run it where my 4090 was unable to... Fit and finish: Amory Crate is good mostly.... If the computer goes to sleep sometimes the lighting profiles do not "wake up" properly and end up either not having a keyboard light or turning on the back lights which I do not normally have on. That could use some work by Asus, not a BestBuy issue by all means. I just cleaned it off prior to this review and found there to be no scratches on the screen, the back or really anything... So its still looking new out of the box. Even the keyboard didn't retain oil or gloss over so far... Thats more than I can say for 99% of keyboards even! The screen: There is a nice anti reflective coating on the screen which makes it easy to read and stops reflections from being so harsh. I have had no issues with it wearing off. The screen itself is a good size, resolution and paired with either the slim pen or the pen pro works well for everything from hand writing to art. I take a lot of notes and keep a jounal daily so this gets a lot of hands on use... I am actually surprised at how well this works as a tablet. To give some depth into this... I pretty much stopped using my Boox Note Air 4C and just use this now... Use Case, who should buy this?: IT professionals, content creators, or editors on the go. It has no issue docking to a Cal Digit TS4 which is hooked up to 2 mac studio monitors. It also has no issue hooking up to the input of the USB/Display hub on my Lenovo Legion Ultra Wide monitor for gaming. Because the monitor has a built in USB hub I keep my speakers, ethernet, headset, keyboard, mouse and Elgato Stream Deck + plugged into the monitor. The KVM switches right over and I have a second screen right below for discord or web browsing while gaming. Cons: Bit pricy, but almost earns the price tag. Had the opted for a 2TB SSD instead of the 1TB and given us an option to have a 5G modem than this would be the perfect, end all be all of mobile computing. PERIOD. Asus Armory Crate still has its minor flaws, but some really big W's at fixing known windows issues. At this point anything beyond that I would be nit-picking.... If its within your budget and you want a do-it-all that you can dock and take with you, write on, draw on, hook up at the office... Its got the power... If you want something thats going to last you the whole day without paying for a Macbook (Mind you my MacBook Pro 14" was like 5-6k with the specs above) then well... Its best in class for windows portables. I would HIGHLY recommend this over a surface pro any day... Those are so limited on what they can do that its not worth your time.... Bite the bullet, spend the extra and you'll have a machine for 5-7 years instead of 2...

I've been trying out the Flow Z13's since 2022, and the leaps and bounds its made is truly a wonder! The fact that they crammed 128GB of RAM in here without many if ANY issues, makes this my perfect machine! Aside from the price, I would recommend this to any artist doing heavy workloads (3D, Compositing, 2D animation, etc.) I haven't run into any compatibility issues so far, the speed and performance is immaculate (like a RTX 4060/4070.) I love how it looks, especially with my stickers, and the only downside is the battery life if you're gaming/pushing the power hard with no charger. Also I've noticed a whirring sound in my detachable keyboard- Otherwise I recommend this bad boy to everyone XD And just think about adding a eGPU to this?!

This product has the perfect combination between power, portability, aesthetics, and quality. They say it’s too pricey. But the experience it gives says about the price.

I mainly use it for llms and for dev. LLMs run and I am happy although not super fast but it gets the job done for development, testing and doing small tasks. The memory is amazing for doing power work. Launching multiple agents etc to do a lot is great in this. I use vscode, powershell, wsl,etc and it works amazingly well. It's a mini server with a superb display for LLMS and Power dev.

The massive graphics memory is a neat party trick, but it probably would have been better with a discrete GPU. Size is very portable, but screen is a little tight for multitasking. Fan can have a bit of whine to it, but it's mostly whisper quiet. Buy it if you like (or develop) AI chatbots or if you like the whole "Microsoft Surface" style but want a little more power and lots more RAM.

I bought the ASUS ROG Z13 Flow with 128gb Unified RAM mainly for one purpose — "to run LLMs locally" — and honestly, it has exceeded my expectations. I’ve downloaded and tried multiple models, and currently allocated 64 GB as VRAM to load "Gemma 4 26B Q4". I was honestly surprised by the speed. I’m getting around "42 – 45 tokens/sec", which I did not expect from a device this size. Really impressed with the performance. My kids also loving it for gaming while I'm away from desk. On our previous laptop with 8 GB VRAM, we were getting 60 - 100 FPS in most of the games. With the Z13, we’re seeing 380+ FPS in the games we play. That’s a huge upgrade and the gaming performance is really impressive. One thing that surprised me the most is how quiet the system is, even while gaming heavily. I was expecting a lot more fan noise and heat, but in my experience it has been surprisingly quiet and doesn’t get uncomfortably hot. This is especially nice when using it during a driving trip. I also really like the detachable keyboard. With the USB ports and HDMI, it feels like much more than just a tablet. I can use it as a proper productivity machine when needed and then easily switch back to tablet mode. Though its not OLED, with 500nit, 180hz refresh makes display a breeze... ultimate beauty with brain! Overall, I’m really loving the Z13. The combination of local AI performance, gaming, portability, and the 2-in-1 design makes it a very impressive machine for what I wanted to use it for. So far, I’m very happy with the purchase. Strongly recommend.

I been using this tablet for months and it surprised me of how good the performance is, this version with 128gb ram is extremely good for ai workloads and runnung virtual machine works, i games sometime during my free time and the power of this tablet didn’t let me down on my gaming, i was always above 70 fps of tripple A titles games, so i would recommend this product if you are looking for a bit of gaming and heavy task load work.

The memory access is insane. I had no idea it would actually be able to play games natively as well as it can.

The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 is an absolute powerhouse. I am incredibly impressed with the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor; it delivers outstanding performance for everything I throw at it. Having 128GB of RAM makes it an incredible machine for running local AI models, and the integrated 8060s GPU is hands-down the most capable iGPU I have ever used in a portable form factor. This device perfectly balances extreme performance with the portability of a tablet, making it a dream for developers and enthusiasts alike. Highly recommended!

It is a very good, fast, and responsive machine. However, if you are looking at the 128GB version specifically for heavy AI workloads or high-end gaming, there are a few things you should know. ​I originally wanted to run large local LLMs. While the laptop is fully capable of running them, pushing anything above 30 to 38 billion parameters just isn't reasonable. The models will load, but the generation speed is far too slow to be practical. Because of this bottleneck, the 128GB version wasn't as useful to me as I hoped. If you want to run LLMs, a laptop with an RTX 5090 is a much better buy; it can run those same 30B+ models, but it will process them significantly faster. ​As for gaming, it is generally great, but it does have some frustrating restrictions. I ran into issues where certain AAA games were unplayable at medium settings. If your main focus is gaming, you will get a much better and more reliable experience out of a standard laptop equipped with an RTX 5070. ​Ultimately, it’s a cool and capable device, but you might be better off saving your money on the RAM upgrade and buying a dedicated gaming or AI laptop depending on your specific needs.

Asus gaming laptops are perfect for an always on server configuration. Currently running mine with Ubuntu hosting multiple VMs in support of several software projects. Setup is easy and fully Linux compatible plus I appreciate the gaming and ruggedized capabilities as it helps to ensure the system can be robust to handle and always on environment In my home office lab! Love Asus products!!

I put off writing this review for a bit because it has been awhile since I used a laptop - I've been using only a desktop. It took awhile to get accustomed to planning about plugging in and using battery. THe battery life is very good - in fact, at one point it complained that I was using it plugged in too much! My one complaint is that the keyboard is supposed to be detachable. In spite of graphics int eh instruction, I still haven't figured out how to detach it! I searched for videos to help, but only found elaborate instructions for opening up the insides of the computer, something I'm definitely not interested in doing. A simple video for detaching the keyboard would be nice. That said, I have no regrets about my choice.

This computer preforms very well for my needs and i havent had any issues from it yet and would recommend it for other to buy it.

Finally took the plunge to running a linux laptop as a daily driver. Really enjoying this machine. Can run local LLMs up to 96GB with Lemonade. Nice perfomance and power consumption.

I have a powerful desktop to run ai locally so I did some thorough research before deciding to purchase this product to be a portable gaming/ai center. The biggest compliant that this device has is the battery life. So while the tablet does an amazing job of both, I had to return it because I ended being tethered to the wall, which is what a lot of prior reviews have stated. There are ways to limit the power the device uses but that involves using 3rd party apps that could potential void your warranty. It is not the out-of-box experience that I was hoping for. If you have no problem being connected to the wall, I would recommend this device. If you already have a power desktop, pass on this device.
