As the title suggests, the specs and characteristics of the monitor are great. The coloring and lighting looks nice, and I don’t notice any screen tearing. 240hz runs smoothly without OC. The only issue I had was with the build quality of the panel, as there’s a significant amount of backlight bleed, especially at the bottom where there’s a loud clicking noise along the framing when pressed. It sounds as if the frame is not fully intact and cannot be pressed into place. Otherwise a good monitor for its price.

quality of the build is really good. sadly the screen I have got a backlight bleed as seen in the attached pic. it's not so noticeable when you play game full screen. but still annoying bcuz it's there every time i turn on the PC. I already have 2 LG monitor before and they never have problem with ips glow or backlight bleed like this. I thought Asus would be the same in terms of quality but I guess not. anyway got problem when trying to set the refresh rate to 240hz. screen keep flickering and died to black screen after. solved it with changing the setting at Nvidia app instead of Windows settings. weird thing is when use hdr on, I can't reduce the brightness of the screen unless I turn on hdr setting for customize.

The monitor is great. I waited two weeks to test it, and unfortunately, it arrived with a damaged pixel. I'm returning it and will buy another one. Hopefully, this won't happen again.

I have a 38” widescreen monitor that I use primarily for gaming, but I’m always on the lookout for additional screen real estate as my work involves editing and navigating through HUGE webpages and documents, so a dense 27” in portrait mode that can offer stellar Windows/productivity clarity but still support more FPS than many video cards are capable of producing in AAA titles seemed like it would scratch two itches at once. And did it turn in stellar performance? Not only is the ROG XG27ACMES a stellar gaming monitor that offers remarkably sharp text and Windows desktop and productivity rendering, it does so at a shockingly low price point that absolutely NAILS the top-heavy performance per dollar balance most budget-savvy gamers crave. As a ROG product, the XG27ACMES is surprisingly…conservative…in its design. There are no showy RGB logos on the back or front, only one small white power LED (that is defeatable) in the lower right corner, and a single silver ROG “eye” logo at the bottom center of the screen’s bezel. The stand has a threaded insert at the top for a camera or accessory mount, and it offers a hole near the base to help with cable management. The base is a surprisingly compact elongated hexagon that graciously takes up FAR less desktop space than most wide/huge “look at me, I’m a gaming monitor” type stands. Bezels only run 1/4” around the top and sides…it’s not an uber-fancy bezelless design, but the bezels themselves are small enough that I don’t find them very intrusive at all. Connectivity is…enough. There is a single DP port that can run at 1.2 or 1.4 spec, one HDMI 2.1 port, and a USB-C with DP Alt Mode. Sadly, there aren’t a host of separate HDMI inputs for multiple game consoles, but the USB-C port with video support makes it incredibly handy for quick hookup and disconnect of a laptop or tablet that is similarly equipped. The USB-C port also supports up to 15W of power delivery for charge/recharge of other devices. There are no speakers, but there is a 3.5mm jack for a headset. Honestly, the only real gripe I have with the monitor’s rather understated design is the monitor’s menu interface. I guess ASUS is trying to leverage the ROG branding with angular “edgy” and futuristic shapes and lines. The rear-panel controls are oddly shaped, oddly placed, oddly angled with odd diagonal texturing placed on odd segments of the buttons themselves. This by itself wouldn’t necessarily be so bad except that they are tucked a good inch back from the edge of the screen. Once your fingers disappear around the corner, it becomes a little harder to judge the relative position of where you THINK the controls are because you can no longer see where you are placing your fingers. The joystick navigation control is intuitive enough as is the exit button just below it. But from there, you have “Key 1” and “Key 2” for carrying out various adjustments or choosing different sub-menus, and a power button that is shaped and spaced suspiciously close to all the other controls—it took me a LONG time to stop accidentally turning the monitor off when I was just reaching for the color-preset button. ASUS does provide small icons on the very outside edge of the monitor’s frame to indicate which control is which and where they are located relative to each other; but as they are on the side of the monitor, you cannot see them when sitting in front of the monitor (from where I imagine most people are likely viewing their monitor), and they are printed in such low-contrast colors it is virtually impossible to make them out anyway. In terms of its gaming chops, the 27” 2560x1440 fast IPS screen is really in the Goldilocks range when it comes to performance potential. For the most part, 4K gaming is still pretty tough for most video cards south of $2000 to pull off (my RTX4090 still struggles), but 1440p offers an incredibly detailed gaming image with absolutely razor-sharp text without edge ringing or distracting artifacts. The 0.3ms response time should be fast enough for all but the most godlike of esports professionals while the super-high refresh rate should appeal to those who are always looking to squeeze out another few FPS with game settings or engine tweaks. Note that while the panel advertises 255Hz refresh, Windows won’t recognize that refresh rate as a selectable option until you enable overdrive in the monitor’s menu (at least, that’s what it took for me to have 255Hz as a refresh option. The XG27ACMES packs G-Sync and FreeSync Premium for simply ultra-smooth visuals from NVIDIA or AMD video card; if you are moving up from a fixed-refresh screen, the difference can feel like night and day. But this was also the first monitor I have used with ELMB Sync, an advanced backlight strobing technology that supposedly reduces motion blur and increases object clarity in fast-moving scenes but still allows you to pair that feature with variable-refresh technologies like FreeSync or G-Sync. I can see the appeal of ELMB Sync depending on the gaming background and experience you bring to the table. Specifically, I did notice some appreciable increases in fast-motion object detail and clarity—which is probably easier to pick out at 1440p when viewed from fairly close as is likely with a 27” monitor, but it comes at the cost of disabling your brightness control, dynamic dimming and dynamic contrast control (if you use them—most of my games are frantic enough that onscreen action causes screen flicker and distracting brightness shifts using THOSE dynamic adjustments), and importantly, HDR. The XG27ACMES supports HDR10 and is DisplayHDR 400-certified. This gives you the option of displaying far more color tones in games and video-based media. I measured the panel’s peak output at a surprisingly high 465 nits which is PLENTY bright for use in rooms with daylight or lots of direct lighting. The semi-matte screen coating also helps reduce distracting reflections during gameplay. Your mileage may vary of course, but it’s a real bonus to have so many different kinds of image enhancement and motion smoothing functions in a single unit. I don’t know if I won the silicon lottery or not, but my panel shows virtually NO IPS bleed in the corners or light bloom near the edges...darkened room blacks really are deeply black—not as inky black as an OLED screen, but this the best and most uniform IPS backlighting I’ve seen to date. Customization and personalization options are extensive. On-panel options include adjustments for overclock, VRR, ELMB, GamePlus enhancements (FPS counters, timers, stopwatch, crosshairs, etc.), 9 different color profile selection (FPS, Cinema, MOBA, sRGB, etc.), 3 levels of shadow detail enhancement as well as a dynamic shadow boost mode to automatically raise and lower shadow detail depending on the screen contents. Image controls include standard contrast, brightness, HDR color adjustments, dynamic screen dimming and contrast control (mentioned earlier), and ASUS’s own VividPixel—essentially a sharpness control that can enhance detail in some cases but can also quickly lead to ringing around text and high-contrast object outlines. You can also adjust color space (sRGB, DCI-P3, Wide), gamma (1.8 to 2.6), and color saturation, as well as choose a color temperature preset or set your own, and you can adjust color saturation by individual channel (RGBCMY). Suffice it to say that there are enough fine-tuning image adjustments and controls that you can either pick a preset that looks great to you or spend hours with a colorimeter and tweak the picture to your EXACT specifications and needs, whether it is gaming, productivity, or content development. Aside from these on-panel adjustments, there is also an ASUS DisplayWidget Center, a small downloadable companion app that lets you make most of the adjustments indicated above from your keyboard rather than having to reach around back to blindly press at the oddly shaped menu and select keys. Once you step up from 1080p, it will probably be hard to go back. The XG27ACMES’s 1440p picture quality, color reproduction, and fine detail will look far beyond what you get from most 1080p monitors out there. Typical of virtually all monitors that support HDR, activating HDR in Windows will make the desktop image look decidedly less bright and colorful. BUT, once you feed it a game where the devs took the time to add in legitimate HDR encoding, and you are in for a treat. The sudden bump in color and pop is striking, and there are enough fine-tuning controls on the monitor itself to get the image dialed into your precise preferences. Overall, I was really shocked with just how good the monitor could look with a quality video signal and all the visual bells and whistles activated. Granted, there are "better" monitors out there--the ROG XG27ACMES doesn’t necessarily have the absolute best image quality available, nor the deepest blacks or whitest whites. But it really does come darned close, and it performs a heck of a lot better than most IPS screens I’ve auditioned at a price that is remarkably low for everything you get under the hood. The results you will see from this monitor simply punch WAY above their price and weight class—definitely recommended!

I’ve been using the ASUS ROG Strix 27" 2K IPS 255Hz 0.3ms Gaming Monitor (XG27ACMES) for a little while now, and I honestly feel like this is one of the best bang for your buck gaming monitors ASUS has to offer. Getting a 1440p 255Hz panel (when overclocked) at this price range is a steal, and the performance absolutely delivers. In FPS games like Apex, BF6 or Valorant, the motion clarity is very smooth, with its 0.3ms response time makes everything feel sharp and responsive. It also comes with both G-SYNC/FreeSync Premium, and I haven’t had a single issue with screen tearing or weird sync artifacts. Also it has HDR 10 VESA Certified Display HDR 400 which is decent but not the brightest. With it being an IPS display, the colors and viewing angles are excellent. Brightness and color consistency are solid for both gaming and productivity, and the panel doesn’t look washed out even when you’re off to the side. It’s sharp, vibrant, and feels like a great balance between speed and quality. The monitor’s overall design is moderate without being too “gamery”, and doesn't have the absurd wide sharp angle bases that ASUS is known for with some of their higher end models that take up too much desk space. What surprised me the most, though, was the stand, in that It’s not just sturdy, it's completely toolless at this price point, which made setup super easy. All I had to do was snap the arm into the base and turn the little key on the base and you’re good to go. The stand has great adjustability to height, tilt, swivel, and full pivot, so I can rotate it vertically for when I want to look at Discord chat. ASUS even added a webcam mount at the top of the stand, which is a nice addition. Whether you are streaming or just using a camera for meetings, not having to rely on random clips or third party mounts is a huge quality of life upgrade. The user interface is also very straight forward and easy to navigate. In the settings, you can turn on the over clock mode to bump the refresh rate up to 255Hz, along with changing picture mode depending on the type of game you are playing, adding static cross hairs for shooting games or having a FPS counter on, so you know exactly how much FPS you are getting in real time. That being said this monitor does not have built in speakers, so you will need a headset or external speakers. The I/O selection is simple and to the point. You get 1x DisplayPort 1.4 for max refresh rate on PC, 1x HDMI 2.1, which is great if you’re gaming on current gen consoles and USB Type-C with display support. The addition of USB-C is especially nice, because you can connect your laptop via USB-C for display output. But it only gives a little charge to the laptop and your OS will indicate that its not enough power to charge the laptop and you will still need to use the laptop charger. Great gaming monitor. It has the perfect size and resolution for a gaming machine. The 2560 x 1440 resolution is crisp and clear and its great as is better than 1080p and not as taxing as full 4k, easier to drive with a midrange video card. Its accessories came inside a nice carrying case (with a zipper), I used the included display port cable. The included stand is great and the foot is metal and sturdy, it was easy to put together as is fully toolless. You can adjust the height, tilt and angle (rotation, a little bit, I was not able to fully put it as vertical, as it does not clear the foot). It has great quality and great viewing angles, and good color accuracy. Being an IPS display, I was worried about the dreaded "IPS glow", but this guy has minimum amount of it, and its contrast is great, for an IPS. It can be further improved with its dimming options on its menu (its called dynamic dimming). You can control every setting with the joystick on the back with its on screen menu, however the great thing is that you can download Asus's display widget center windows app and you can control it from your PC too, super fast to change settings, and it has tons of settings, like presets for racing, fps, etc. games, you can tweak the contrast, color temperature and more importantly its overclockable function, where you can drive it up to a 255hz refresh rate (its menu warms you may experience flicker, but I have not seen that at all, I have a Radeon 9070xt). It supports G-sync but also works with AMD's free sync no issue. It also supports HDR and does have a VESA HDR certification per windows and supports up to 644 nits of brightness per windows (official specs says HDR 400). Gaming has been a great experience and did not see any blur or issues, its variable overdrive makes the panel respond super fast, so if you are looking for a nice 27 inch 2k monitor, with good HDR and fast hz, this is the one for you!

Is the Strix XG27ACMES the last ROG IPS from Asus? Maybe not, there's always going to be a market for cheaper monitors that can stay on 24/7/365 without the risk of burn-in. But given the pricing trend of OLED monitors and especially those in this 2560x1440p 27" size, and of course the big benefits especially for gaming that OLED offers, one has to wonder if IPS Gaming monitors have seen their last days. I remember fondly when I bought my PG278Q, it was the FIRST ROG Swift monitor that supported high refresh rates at the time it was 2560x1440p/144Hz to support Nvidia's 3D Vision and one of the first monitors to support G-Sync. It was also $800 back in 2014. And now we're at 255Hz at the same resolution just over 10 years later for $300. Crazy how time flies. This monitor still looks crisp and is brighter than your typical OLED, but its dynamic range and black/white contrast isn't as good. Also, you're going to get the standard grey dark scenes and backlight bleed as IPS is known for, but its really only bothersome on black or dark backgrounds. For typical usage this monitor looks great, pixel pitch is what you expect for 1440p and looks great for both gaming and text/work/photos and general web browsing. The monitor's build quality is good, not great. The grainy plastic isn't the most premium finish from Asus ROG and the rather large and grainy plastic finish on the bottom of the bezel stands out, in a bad way, aesthetically. Everything else looks great and the thin bezels on the sides and top are what you expect from ROG. The stand is actually dialed down from other ROG monitors but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It has the usual ROG branding with a G-Sync logo, but the base is a very flat and sturdy metal finish that is minimalistic overall. Oddly, in order to "unlock" the full capabilities, you have to use an HDMI cable that doesn't come with the monitor. Then you have to go and unlock full power mode. Then overclocking mode. Only after all that, can you use the advertised 255Hz refresh rates. Such an odd decision to make you jump through all the hoops just to use the features that make this monitor appealing. As mentioned in terms of gaming everything looks great, not as fast pixel response as OLED's response rate of 0.1ms but 0.3ms is still very good and much better than previous IPS monitors. It reminds me a lot of the premium IPS laptop monitors and that's a good thing. No ghosting/smudging at the high refresh rates, but still some blur due to image retention compared to OLED. Personally, I game on a 32" 4K OLED 240Hz monitor, but I will be using this as a side panel and also to connect my gaming laptops because it is a big upgrade over my non-gaming 27" OLEDs. Even mousing around I notice the big difference in refresh rate and when I 2-box on my laptop, it really looks great on the Strix monitor.

I have been recently wanting to move back to a 27-inch gaming monitor from the larger ultrawide that I have, and I have to say this is exactly what I was looking for. The ASUS - ROG Strix 27" 2K IPS 255Hz rocks a .3ms response time, which is great for games like FPS that, in my opinion, require that low of a response time. It also has a 255hz refresh rate for the smooth gaming experience that I, myself, require. To do so, make sure you turn on overdrive within the monitor menu, so windows give you the option to activate 255hz. The monitor being ROG, it does seem to lack the over-the-top esthetics that I was used to with ROG, but that isn’t a bad thing in my opinion. There is something to be said about a ROG product that doesn’t throw RGB in your face at every corner. The monitor is thin and light weight, and very easy to monitor to a monitor arm. The menu GUI is easy to use and out of the box, the colors appear to be pretty darn accurate. Connectivity wise, you get a DP that can run 1.2 or 1.4, and one port for HDMI 2.1. There is a USB-C port that displays video that a laptop can be hooked up to, which is nice. I would like to have seen at least 1 more HDMI port so you can have your PC and XBOX or PS5 hooked up as well. This is a must for 2025 and a big negative for this monitor. Overall, the monitor performs well, has a good image out of the box and rocks HDR10 and HDR400. I am enjoying the experience so far. I would really have liked to have seen a second HDMI 2.1 port, though.

I’ve been heavy in to ASUS as of late, as they’ve been a brand you can largely trust when it comes to PC gaming. With that said, it’s no surprise this ROG Strix monitor is super solid. While I do like this monitor, I still think there is one issue holding it back. Setting this monitor up was easy. No tools required, everything needed is already attached (screw in the base, button on the back to connect the stand). Once I got evening out the box I had everything up in seconds..well, a couple minutes. Once the monitor was on, I was largely impressed by the image quality, brightness and colors for an LED. In the attached images you can see the bright colors really popped off the screen. 2k is a great resolution forPC gaming still, and combine that with the high refresh rate (255 hz) this is a monitor that trends more toward competitive gamers searching for higher frames. All of that is awesome for PC gamers…however, as console gamers are starting to find themselves connecting to monitors more, this monitor having one HDMI port is kind of a letdown. You can connect via USB C, as well as display port…but if you’re trying to connect a PC and multiple consoles, you might find yourself in a bit of a pickle. Comoettive PC gamers looking for a high refresh rate monitor with solid image quality without breaking the bank…this is a for sure buy. Standard monitor fare, no speakers, no apps or anything extra, just great picture, high frames, low response time. Console gamers looking to connect multiple consoles to a monitor…you might end to stick to gaming on your TV.

ASUS really nailed the sweet spot with this ROG Strix 27" for what I use a monitor for. Running it on a 4090 desktop and a 4090 laptop, it absolutely has the speed to back up the 255Hz spec, even if I’m mostly playing older single‑player titles and doing production work instead of esports. The high refresh still matters for me because anything over 120Hz noticeably cuts down on eye strain during long sessions, and this panel delivers that smoothness. Image quality at 1440p on 27" is exactly where I like it: sharp enough to make text and UI clean, without the overkill of 4K where I’d just be pushing more pixels for minimal real‑world benefit. Not having to drive 4K also means less load on the GPU and, realistically, less wasted power. As a production display, the IPS panel is doing what it should—no weird color shifting when I’m off‑axis and colors stay consistent enough across the screen for the kind of work I’m doing. Build quality feels solid for the price. It’s mostly plastic on the outside, but the internal frame feels like magnesium or at least something more rigid than cheap flexy plastic, so it doesn’t come across as flimsy. I’m big on monitor arms, and this one cooperates: standard 100x100 VESA, easy enough to mount. The only real gripe there is clearance—there isn’t a ton of space around the VESA pattern, so those big “X” style plates are a no‑go. A slimmer VESA plate works fine, but it’s something to be aware of before you start bolting hardware together. There are a bunch of things that I really like. One, there's a 1/4 20 screwhole on the top of the monitor stand (check out my picture) with a converter, you can put pretty much anything that can be mounted on a tripod on the monitor stand. Totally great place to put that. I also like the fairly modern menuing system that's built into the monitor. It's fairly easy to navigate using the joystick and it all makes sense. That's a win. For what I actually need—fast, clean 1440p, good viewing angles, solid build, and no nonsense when moving it onto an arm—this monitor checks all the important boxes. I’m not chasing every last competitive edge, but I do care about comfort and clarity, and this panel hits that balance really well. Overall, this is an easy recommend from me. RECOMMENDED!

Asus can sometimes be all over the place with value. Usually their ROG Strix lineup is a bit more expensive, and usually has all the bells and whistles, but the value can be iffy vs competitors. This 27" QHD beast is NOT one of those. Solid value, great features, good brightness, stellar refresh and response! Pro's - Clear fast display - You'd automatically expect being that its able to run at QHD 255hz, but at 27" its a great size for 1440p. Clear picture, great colors, works surprisingly well with my 9060XT 8GB, I just crank down a bunch of the settings to keep the FPS high in BF6. Works extremely well in Rocket League as well, zero smearing + no tearing with Freesync. Easy setup - Took all of a few minutes running through the menus and getting everything set the way that looked the best for me. Having the little OSD joystick right in line with all the of the buttons really made it quick and mostly painless. The stand is easily assembled, and extremely sturdy. Was a bit surprised to see only a DisplayPort cable included, but it does come in a nice little accessory bag. Value - Not the cheapest monitor, but with the stands adjustability, plus the solid build/tons of settings to fine tune, it'll fit most gamers easily. Great monitor, easily recommended for most gamers looking for a great 1440p high refresh display at a solid value.

Here’s what I would look for in a gaming monitor: Both Gsync and Freesync compatible (I use NVIDIA GPU but may switch to AMD in the future) Supports at least 1440p High refresh rate Great response time Anti-Glare coating HDR Good connectivity options: Display Port connection and HDMI This Asus monitor gives me all that. Even more, the monitor connects to a computer via USB, making it easy to use as a second screen for my laptop. Setup is very easy, it took mere minutes to install the monitor stand and have it up and running a game. I’ve been playing Helldivers 2 with the monitor and the visual quality as well the whole experience is great for a LED monitor. There’s no ghosting or tearing in high intense combat. The monitor supports ELMB sync and VRR to eliminate ghosting and tearing. The anti-glare coating works well, making long gaming sessions quite comfortable. The maximum refresh rate is 250 Hz, which is more than enough since most AAA games with a mid-tier GPU run under 100 FPS at the highest settings. Everything is solid and as expected coming out of Asus. This is a great IPS panel gaming monitor as it checks all the boxes.

The beautiful display, the ultra-fast refresh rate and response time make this an amazing option. So, lets go over some of the features on what makes this monitor so great. The stand just locks into the back, and the bottom stand panel just screws right in and it’s ready to go. The monitor comes with a really nice carry case for the cables. There is really no set up required, at this point you can customize some of the options to your liking. Display: The 2K screen (2560 x 1440) with an IPS panel really makes playing games on this monitor fun. The games look sharp and colorful; everything pops whether you're diving into story mode or going all out in fast multiplayer matches. What makes everything even better is the ultra-fast refresh rate coming in at 250Hz, making everything super combined with G-SYNC and FreeSync Premium, you don’t have to worry about screen tearing messing up your gameplay. The monitor also allows you to customize the brightness and colors to your liking, you also have the option for Bluelight filter as well to help with eye strain and also a fully customizable game play menu allowing you to add crosshairs and setup magnification options for games like COD, Fortnite or Apex. All in all, this ASUS ROG Strix is a beast of a gaming monitor, the thing is that I wish it was bit bigger. Highly recommend it for serious gamers looking for that performance.

ASUS is known for being one of the top companies for PC parts and peripherals. Monitors are no exception. This Strix 27inch doing 1440p up to 255hz @ 0.3ms refresh is the perfect sweet spot and crazy good for fast paced intense gaming. In the box is the screen, base, arm, power cable, DP cable, the usual literature and some stickers. Cause you know, stickers give you more frames. (joke). Like most of their monitor lineup, it is 100% tool-less and super easy to setup. Screw the base into the arm and slide the arm to the rear of the screen and click it into place. Easy. Everyone's mileage is going to vary, especially if you want the full performance of this screen. The better your rig, the better the results obviously. I am using a 5080 with a 9800x3d build. One thing you will notice when you 1st use the ASUS, is that windows sets it at 1440p @ 60. So when I went to change it, I was shocked to see it only went to 165hz. Now by no means is this bad and to be fair, it looks and performs amazing, it still isn't the 255hz advertised. What I found out after playing with the OSD is that you need to turn on OVERCLOCK mode in the menu and the monitor will reset. Then you go into your display settings and change it to 255hz. Everything was beautiful and silky smooth. Played a bunch of FPS, RTS and RPGs and noticed no ghosting or artifacting of any kind. The screen is an IPS panel and noticed very little to no light bleeding. Ignore the white spot on my Oblivion pic as that was my TV reflecting that you see on the right side. While writing this review, I noticed that it is on sale and I would say, for the price to performance, it is a no-brainer. 100% well worth the cost for a IPS 255hz monitor.

I’ve used many different monitors, and for the most part any gaming monitor with a good refresh rate all works nice. The biggest difference I see is the color of the monitor and that’s what to me makes the biggest difference. Once you have a monitor with good color (like and OLED) its hard to go back to anything else. And that’s the nice part about this monitor, from what I can see and feel, it has really nice colors especially on the black side. Most of the other introductory gaming monitors are too bright when it comes to dark colors, and at least from what I have used on this it looks great. One the other side, the specs are strong with this monitor too. 2k or 1440p is plenty for any gaming and the super-fast 255 MHz refresh rate is a nice spec to have too. I’ve not used the type-c connection, but it is a nice feature if you come with a laptop an need to hook up, rather then needing to re-plug from your main PC. Overall a really great option as a decent monitor to use for some gaming.

Pretty decent monitor overall. I’m not sure if the Republic of Gamers is a cult or what, but the stickers are pretty cool. I’m impressed with how sturdy the stand feels, and how easy it is to operate. Bonus points for a thread mount on the top of the stand to attach a camera or microphone—if you use one of these, you can get it in an ideal position just above the screen without having to use a desk-mount clamp or huge boom arm. 255 hz refresh rate and 0.3 ms response rate. No complaints. 255 is faster than 240, right? I guess? It came with a small nylon bag for some reason. I guess if I’m traveling with my 27” monitor I’ll have an easy way to carry the power and video cord. Cool. Colors are bright and clear (at least looking straight on). It’s not the best screen in this class that I’ve seen, but nothing terrible. In some cases some colors (ehem, red) seemed over-saturated, but I was able to easily compensate for this with my color correction settings. Overall it’s very crisp during gameplay and colors are accurate enough for most uses. Control buttons on the side are straightforward and easy to use. I like that I can actually look to the side and see the buttons (and their labels), unlike monitors with buttons on the bottom where I can only feel for them and guess which is which. Some things could be improved: Everything—literally everything, even a few sheets of compliance papers—was individually wrapped in plastic. I get wanting to protect the finish on the glossy plastic pieces, but there’s no reason for so much packaging waste that I have to put in a landfill to use this product. The screen has a semi-gloss type finish, which picked up a bit more glare than I’m used to. It’s not unreasonable, but I found it to be a little bit distracting. Viewing angle is not amazing. This is pretty standard for IPS displays, but it doesn’t take much movement off axis for colors to get dim and washed out. This might be a thing with my setup, but when I connected it to my work laptop (no fancy GPU) I was locked out of all the color controls except for brightness and contrast. I’ve never seen this limitation before on a monitor. All the controls work as expected on my gaming setup, but for some reason not on my work laptop.

ASUS delivers a solid performer with a great refresh rate and vivid colors. The 2560 x 1440 native resolution provides a clear picture in Forza Horizon, making the world seem to come alive. The stand out design I appreciated is the ability to rotate and be as sharp vertically as it is in the horizontal (standard) positioning. Colors were bright, yet true when viewing photos. The screen has some anti-gloss to it which rejected the reflections of my overhead light near the game set up. While half the time it’s off to get some intense focus, it ends up being on during the work day. The ASUS monitor swings back and forth between gaming and working easily. It’s a simple cable swap as both my work and fun machines have USB-C output. A 255 Hz refresh rate is hard to witness. My PC said it was that high, but once it was beyond ~110 Hz, I couldn’t tell the difference. There was no noticeable lag or ghosting. The monitor handled everything my 2 year old gaming laptop could through at it and still looked good throughout. Controls are easy to use and are conveniently (for most people) mounted on the right side. My left handed nephew wasn’t so happy about the placement, but still managed everything other than the joystick control. Consider some other monitors which have central controls below the monitor and are equally usable by both left handed and right handed folks. The stand is easy to attach and allows the monitor to swivel. Unfortunately, the highest position on the stand doesn’t allow the screen to rotate directly. I had to pull the side / bottom away from the desk for it to get in place. Once it was there, the performance was fantastic. On many screens, vertical mode is only an echo of the horizontal view. This monitor ensures that all documents can be seen when needed.This also has a 1/4" threaded hold at the top which can be used to mount a camera securely above the screen. ASUS delivers versatility with all 3 common ports: HDMI, Displayport, and DP over USB-C. Be aware that only certain USB-C cables will work. Many cheaper cables will charge phones, but remove the pins which transmit video signals. Unfortunately, they don’t go all in on using the USB-C as the cable delivers only 15W of power. Other monitors I’ve used aren’t as sharp, but deliver 100W. There’s also no USB hub which many modern monitors have. Both of these things would have added a slight expense, but also tremendous value. Knowing what could have been makes it harder to settle for what does exist.

Some IPS glow in top left and right corner, normal for IPS I'd say. But my monitor came with 2 stuck pixels right near the center of the screen. I've tested out 3 different IPS and this one has been the best, really wish it didn't come with stuck pixels. Going to return, would just replace with another but the item is now unavailable both online and in-stores. Disappointing.

I understand this is a newer version of the ACS from Asus' more budget lineup, and it worked well with good quality, colors, and the high refresh rate. For me this purchase was more of a want rather than a need, and for the price it was a good deal. I wanted a 1440p 240Hz monitor, and this seemed like a good candidate. However, after about a week of use I discovered a few dead pixels towards the middle of the screen. I didn't want to run the risk of dead pixels again if they pop up after the 30-day return limit though, so I returned it and did not get a replacement. Better to just wait until OLEDs are cheaper and better quality in my opinion.
