i would suggest this laptop to anybody that is looking for a gaming laptop and a school computer. it runs games great and i never have any problems with this one, you get what you pay for pretty much plus i got it when it was on a deal so i got out of a few Franklin lol also shipping as fast i waited 3 days after i ordered it and it was before the expected date, ps thank you best buy

With the nVidia GTX 1070, and even with the lack of similar RAM memory slots, because this laptop have one 8GB slot plus a 4GB, this laptop is a monster for games. Recommended. The NVme slot for new SSD drives is a bonus, that I appreciate by a lot, actually...

Just buy it! I purchased this computer a month or so ago and I love this laptop. I'm not an avid gamer like I use to be, but still like to play when I get a chance. I play Arma 3, DayZ Standalone, SkyRim, Stranded Deep and several others. You can look me up on Steam to see all my games. People complain of this laptop getting hot and Yes, if you have this thing sitting on your lap play a graphics intense game, It's Going To Get Hot In Your Lap. Duh! All the laptops I've ever had while playing games got hot. So really getting hot is not an issue to keep you from buying any gaming laptop. I keep the fans at max RPMs all the time. I never notice the sound of the fans. With headphones on, air conditioner going and any other noise in the general area, I don't think you're going to notice the fan noise as being the problem in the room. That being said, this computer pumps out up to 150 watts of heat. It needs a lot of fans blowing to dissipate the heat for sure. I play all my games at the High to Maximum Settings! Never a problem for me. Arma 3 might dip down to the low 20s in the FPS department, but I don't mind. I go for quality over FPS. I can reduce quality to Medium and I get over 50-60 FPS. No Problem at all in Arma 3. I love to look at the scenery in these games. Especially on Stranded Deep. I play on Max settings with no trouble. I've seen on forums that people are having trouble on desktop PCs at these setting and this laptop eats it up. I Love It. The screen is by far the best I have used in any laptop to date. I'm not into 4K, I thinks its a waste. 1080P is all anyone really needs (IMO) in games or work. Maybe a graphics designer needs 4K, but I do not. There is also no flickering that I have noticed while using this laptop. Very, very nice screen. The keyboard is a little more spaced out then I am use to. This being the largest computer at 17.3" I've ever owned, it is taking some getting use to. Most of the heat in this laptop is right under the keyboard, with the right side of the keyboard being a little hotter than the left. This is good because most games use the WASD keys when playing. The palm area does feel a little warm when gaming a long while, but not so bad I want to stop because of it. Everyone that sees the red backlit keyboard is immediately attracted to the computer. They love the looks of the keyboard. I like it a little better than the white backlit laptops. Full RGB would have been nice too. The pics I have included were taken in my work truck. I put one of my EGA badges on my laptop. It accents the computer nicely. I'm very fortunate to have this laptop. If you get one you will be to. On the screen you will see me running Virtualbox running Windows XP. I use this computer for work and some of the apps we use run best on XP. Bottom line is I highly recommend the GL702VS. Work, Home, or Play, it will do the job. Things I don't like about this laptop. 1. The front edges are way to sharp. After playing or working a while it tends to hurt my palms. 2. If you're not almost directly over the keyboard then you can see the LED lights under the keys. This is annoying to me. 3. A couple of the stickers on the palm area are really stupid. I mean really, putting a HDMI sticker on a laptop is really stupid. 4. No air intake in the front. This would have greatly lessened the heat at the front of the keyboard IMO. 5. No quick charge with any of the standard USB ports. Only the USB-C port is a quick charge port. Thats BS! 6. The bezel around the display has a edge on it the feels like I'm about to tear it off when I close the lid or my finger slides across it. 7. Sometimes if I let the laptop sleep by closing the lid, it takes a awfully long time to reboot. All you get is a black screen and the hard drive light whirling away. A hard reset after a few minutes and the after the hard drive light slows down is the only immediate remedy. If I shutdown the laptop, I do not get this trouble though. 8 The touch pad is hard to respond if your fingers are very dry or callused. You guys that work your tails off for a living will have this problem. 9. Bestbuy (I assume) put in two 6GB sticks of RAM using both slots. Why not just one 12GB stick? Then if you wanted to upgrade you could have purchased another 12 GB and been done. Things I Love about this Laptop: 1. It is F A S T. Very Fast. 2. Great Sound. I little louder than any other laptop I've owned with clearer sound. 3. Chews thru any game I install. I love this laptop hands down! 4. The top lid feels very secure and well made, other than the little bezel problem I mentioned above. One handed close from a corner feels a little flimsy, but closed nicely when done. I suggest only from the center or two hands just to be safe. 5. Dedicated Graphics + 12GB of memory is perfectly fine. Don't think second thoughts about the memory. It's good to go! 6. The hard drive is fast, but it no SSD. If you buy this laptop, plan on upgrading to a M2 SSD. I Am. 7. The style and design is top notch. People see this computer and figure I dropped a couple grand on it. 8. The bottom of the computer is easy enough to remove. Just make sure you have the right tools for the job, The bottom needs a spudger of some sort to pop the click-lock tabs after the screws are removed. Search YouTube on a howto video. Asus wants us to upgrade this puppy and has made it very easy.

I bought the ASUS GL702VS to replace my old G75. Great price for having an 7th gen i7 and 1070, relatively light, gets warm but doesn't overheat (CPU 83c under stress test). It plays WoW and D3 on max settings. The screen is bright but like most people I don't game outside in direct sunlight ;) The included hard drive is slow so an SSD is highly recommended. Without it boot times were almost three minutes. It has an M.2 NVMe slot so I added a 256 GB Samsung 960 EVO. The back doesn't have individual panels for RAM, SSD, etc (Cost cutting measure?) but it wasn't hard to take the entire back off to add it. Keep the screws separate because some are different length. Neither the computer or SSD comes with the SSD mounting screw so you have to purchase it separately. Unlike some ASUS models the keyboard back light is red and can't be changed. I've owned it for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. It's not a "top of the line" gaming laptop and some reviews complained that it should have come with an SSD or a better screen but it's all about cost. If it did the price would have been higher. At least this way you can get an SSD that fits your budget.

I've had this laptop for about a week now and put it under as much strain as I could and it's handled it like a champ. The first thing I did with it was put a few AAA, graphically demanding titles on it just to make sure I had purchased the right rig. I've played Mass Effect: Andromeda, Gears of War 4, Final Fantasy XIII and XIV, along with a few others and never had my FPS drop below 90 on maximum settings (and at a 4K resolution). I've come to the conclusion that this thing will last me well into the future. I game on standard settings for the most part anyway. The keyboard is very responsive and easy to use. I can say the same for the touchpad. Some of Asus's built in apps are kind of useless but overall there aren't many and they do have their niche uses. I like the one that'll show me CPU/GPU speeds and temperatures. Speaking of temperatures, this laptop has gotten a little warm for me to comfortably hold in my lap. That is the only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5. A cooling pad may not be a bad idea (I've already ordered one). All of the apps, games, and even startup happen super quick compared to my Asus G75VW I got several years ago. Of course I was only sporting a 3rd gen i7 processor and a GTX 660m with that one. All in all, it's a really solid laptop that I expect to last me long into the future with easy portability with is 6lb weight and minimalistic exterior design which will make it easy to find a proper backpack or messenger bag for. Also, unless you're gunning for the GTX 1080 you WILL NOT find a better built and specced laptop at this price. There were no reviews when I bought this laptop and I hope this review will help anyone thinking of buying it.
