This laptop is simply incredible. The screen is gorgeous, the keyboard is perfect, and the trackpad is fantastic. I’ve been running Battlefield 2042 and Halo Infinite on ultra quality with full 240FPS on my 4k external monitor and this laptop handles it without a sweat. I’ve been monitoring the RAM usage in the background, since I was initially concerned about a 32GB max capacity. But this computer can keep the running the 4K game while web browsing and downloading additional games with breaking a sweat; my max RAM usage during this was 17GB, so I still had 15 left over to freely use. Unless you’re doing heavy 8k video editing while playing games on a second monitor, 32GB will work just fine. This laptop doesn’t get terribly loud during gaming. Its fans run when playing 4K at full FPS, but any computer will do that. It’s not terribly loud as to mistaken a jet engine being outside the home. I keep the laptop propped up on a stand so its airflow is unrestricted underneath, but the laptop does come with a small rubber raised if it’s on a flat surface like a table. I added an SSD for external storage and it accepted it without issue as well. The amount of ports are perfect, the screen is perfect, and this computer runs great. I can see myself using this for years to come. And with previously having an ASUS, I’ve got no concerns about longevity and reliability.

Some compromises here: 125w 5090 (full is 175w), soldered RAM (tho fast), 240w power supply. But what you get is a sleek gaming laptop with that you can bring with you to the library. Speakers are great and the OLED screen is a joy to look at. It does get hot between the keyboard and screen while gaming. 80 degrees C on Performance while playing Oblivion Remastered. Download G-Helper to replace Armory Crate. Is it worth another 1K for the 5090? For most people, no.

This laptop was a tough one to review because it has some truly outstanding qualities — and some deal-breaking flaws. Pros: Display: The OLED 2.5K 240Hz panel is stunning, with rich colors and smooth motion (though very glossy). Audio: Subjectively the best laptop speakers I’ve ever heard. Keyboard & Ports: Typing experience is excellent despite the childish font, and the port selection is fantastic. Battery Life: Excellent when tuned with GHelper. Form Factor: Thin, light, and premium-feeling. Camera and Windows Hello are nice touches. Software: Out-of-box experience is better than most, though GHelper is still recommended for wattage control. /////////////////// Cons: Glossy Screen: Distracting at times, and brightness is limited by OLED tech (PHOLED can’t come soon enough). RGB: Single-zone lighting feels absurd at this price point. The slash lighting is cool, but I never understand why makers put RGB on the BACK OF LAPTOPS... how the heck am I going to enjoy that? Trackpad: Underwhelming compared to the rest of the build. However, this is subjective. Performance & Stuttering: The biggest issue. Across multiple Zephyrus models over the years, I’ve noticed random stutters and hitches — even in games that rarely stutter, or while opening apps/web pages. This seems to be a long-standing ASUS problem discussed widely on YouTube gaming channels. I noticed it, and have noticed it for years - Zephyrus and Strix models. Very concerning. GPU Limitations: Comparing a desktop RTX 5090 (575W) to the mobile 5090 (125W) is unfair, but the gap is massive. Ghost of Tsushima at max settings (at QHD): ~200 FPS on desktop vs. mid-50s FPS on the Zephyrus. DLSS and Frame Gen help (80–110 FPS), but performance dips and stutters made it hard to justify. Similar issues appeared in Cyberpunk, Total War, Resident Evil, and The Division 2. Bottom Line: For office work, media consumption, mobility, and general use, this laptop is excellent. But for gaming, the stuttering and performance limitations were too frustrating. Despite loving many aspects of it, I had to return it.

I have been using this for days now and all I can say is it is a truly a beast laptop. Very professional looking for a gaming rig. Gorgeous display. It may not give the full potential of the GPU since wattage is limited though it can still handle high demand graphic games.

This laptop is very thin and light weight considering it is equiped with NVIDIA RTX 5090 with 24GB of VRAM. It comes with proprietary power adapter of 240w. But the power block is very light too. I can easily carry it around with one hand. The chassis is very sturdy and has premium feel. It scores well with UserPerformanceBench although it is not the highest scorer despite it has intel core ultra 9 285H and RTX 5090. Nonethless it is a cery capable gaming machine. I have not tried playing any game yet. I use it mainly for LLM develpment. Its 24GB of VRAM is a gem for LLM. The RAM is integrated on the motherboard, there is no way to upgrade after ordering. So if you need more memory, do it at purchase time. It does come with two M2 slots. The SSD on the laptop is very fast, but good enough for my work.

The 2025 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (GU605) is an outstanding gaming laptop. It has raw power, portability, and a premium design. Performance My model has th NVIDIA 5090 GPU. It handles AAA gaming without a problem. Also did 3D rendering readily. Display The display is a true standout — a stunning refresh rate. Colors are bright, blacks are black, and motion is clear. Build & Design Nice tight chassis and light considering the hardware inside. It feels like a quality build. Thermals & Acoustics The cooling system worked well and relatively quiet even under load, but can get noisy when really pushed. Battery Life The battery life is surprisingly good. Got 8 hours of light productivity. 4 on heavy gaming. Ports & Features Uses USB-C charging, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, and a full-sized SD card reader, connectivity is well-rounded. The keyboard is tactile and responsive, and the large glass trackpad is smooth and accurate. Minor Dislike The only slight drawback is the placement and limited number of USB-A ports. Too many peripherals still use them and need dongles sometimes.
