I bought this router for a node to accompany my other ASUS router, just like this one, for my son's room. He has his Xbox and smart TV hooked to it directly. It also fills a void that we had in our network. So now the whole house is completely covered, with no slow/dead spots. Definitely recommend this router!! I have owned a few ASUS routers, and in my opinion, they are the best. Easy setup and the app and user interface is very user friendly.

I had been previously using an all in one combo AC1900 Nighthawk modem/router. The wifi was pretty spotty upstairs in the house until I got this Asus wifi router. I chose it after much research and deliberation, based on price, performance and reviews (had to order, was not stocked locally). What a big difference! Using the old AC1900 strictly set as a modem, and dedicated router, I went from getting 10% of my paid speed over wifi on my phone to actual speed of my ISP! Proof is in the photo. As long as you are okay with it standing upright and looking funny, it is totally worth it.

10/05/22-This is my first ASUS router. I wish that I had found them several years ago, because I love this router's range and speed. My signal strength stays at 100% since the setup on 09/21/22. Set up was easy for me. I followed the instructions on the quick start guide very closely and was finished with the setup within 30-45 minutes. I really love the interface of the mobile App. I can see current Wi-Fi traffic, internet speed, all settings, and can reboot the router from anywhere in the home. I've experienced a wireless reboot feature with AT&T's Smart Home Manager App, but my mother has never experienced that and I think that she's going to like it. When it comes to the speed, it is awesome. I didn't know that this is a gaming router and I think that this has something to do with the speed. I highly recommend this router and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

Great router with great features & super fast speeds

My old router had 30 mbps and after I installed this my wireless speed was over 200 mbps. It handles many devices and I use it with my ring doorbell that’s outside my house. I can see my phone connected to it three blocks away.

I got ATT fiber at my house and used the ATT router which is included with any fiber service. Now I have new life. this router is faster and stronger. It has embedded VPN client and you may use VPN_on_router.

I have had this router a few weeks and it was very easy to set up. Seems to have good range, as it covers my two story home with basement (2100 Sq ft) with ease. Works throughout my 1/4 acre yard as well. I would recommend this so far.

Only had this a few days but so far so good. My old router was the Tmobile version of the ASUS AC68U and while it’s still going strong after 3 years of heavy use, it isn’t able to get firmware updates for some reason. I didn’t want to mess around with reflashing the Tmobile firmware to the stock ASUS version so I bought this newer unit instead. CR indicates that outdated firmware is a security risk and with all that’s going on these days with cyberattacks I didn’t want to take chances. Also the concept of free for life malware protection built into this router is appealing. So as for performance - it seems to be a bit better than the old ASUS. Speeds don’t really seem to be much different (100 mbps) but I am not seeing those occasional lags I was seeing with the old unit where I’d get some occasional buffering. Most obvious in Webex meetings with video. I am concerned about overall durability since I’ve read the reviews stating early failures of these units on the 2.4 band. Those seem to be mostly older reviews though. So I’ve got an AC Infinity fan on this unit to keep it cooler. It does get quite warm otherwise as did the old unit. I also upgraded to the latest firmware immediately and plugged the router into an APC backup with surge protection. I am hoping this unit is at least as consistent over the long term as my old ASUS. I like the form factor of these units and the ASUS interface overall. If it fails, I hope it occurs within 2 weeks. Fingers crossed!

Best router for my gaming. Lot of speed, good range of wifi and has WTFast so you can router your conecction to the servers (like a VPN) so it improves your latency. For me its a great deal for the price.

Excellent router! Very fast, wide coverage area, easy controls, lots of settings and good security features. Had one issue setting up the router but returned it and got an exchange and no problems.

The router performs well. It has a better range than my previous router. It was very easy to install. Has many features to customize operation. Glad I bought it.

Bought this unit to add into the Asus AIMESH with another router. After troubleshooting and getting it properly setup in the AIMESH it has worked wonderfully to extend my 5ghz wireless across my house. For AIMESH, this unit and the attaching unit will need to be on the latest firmware, so you may want to set this up as a normal router first, make all firmware updates, then reset it as a node for the AIMESH. The instructions are not very intuitive for getting the firmware updated and matching the host while starting the router as a node (I'm not sure that is actually possible at initial setup).

After years of being unhappy with the routers provided by my ISP, I finally took the time to research and purchase a quality router I could customize to my needs. Thankfully, I began looking into ASUS and took a chance in buying the AC2917. By itself, it performed flawlessly, providing a consistent and reliable signal in a 2500 sq/ft home. Luckily, I came across an ASUS AX3000 router and paired the two using AI Mesh. If you are looking to break the chains of standard ISP provided routers and lackluster performance, take a chance and buy ASUS. You will not be disappointed.

I bought this for solely a VPN router, mini switch and additional wifi if needed to put between my modem and eero router. So far this has been great and love the added layer of security since eero doesn't have a VPN to add on the router itself. I will update if I run into any issues.

This is awesome. Exactly what I was looking for and easy to set up. I plugged in my Ethernet cable, connected my computer, and I was browsing in an instant. Multi channel with separate passwords for the gigabit and 500 Mb channels so you can keep your kid from taking all the bandwidth.

Needed a new router since we have expanded the number of devices in our home. Had a Netgear N600 WNDE3400 and did the research and chose this device. It was very easy to set up and the streaming TV has no issues. The stronger band is super and I would highly recommend. This was easiest router I have ever set up.
