This is a slick and sleek external DVD R/W drive. I haven't burned anything, but it reads well and is an excellent addition to my ASUS laptop workspace. The connectivity is good - I plug it into a C connector and it hums along. Easy to use, easy to store, and works well. ASUS is an excellent brand as many of the major names in the market have turned into consumer fare with lower performance and specs - you know the brands I will not name. Everyone knows those names. I went with this ASUS to match my great ASUS laptop (thankfully upgraded with SSD and RAM before the recent, incredible price jumps) after another major brand external drive stopped working for no reason. These DVD drives just don't like living too long - I have replaced internal ones back when laptops included them. You have to go external these days, and this ASUS is an excellent and economical choice.

After upgrading my old laptop to a "new" ASUS laptop found I needed a disc drive to enable loading of my older CD/DVD software programs. I had thought about loading disc software onto thumb drives, but it turned out to be cheaper to buy the ASUS brand disc drive. It was very easy to install and operate the new ASUS disc drive. There are two sets of connection cables to perkup the power and speed of the disc drive. Just have decided through trial and error of which of the two cables works best for your project.

Overall, it has a sleek, classy, modern design, I got it at a good price for $20, and it’s not a very noisy device. It’s not a magic solution for all your problems; it won’t run software for you if your computer isn’t compatible with it (which was something I found out the hard way), but it works fine at connecting the disc to the computer so you can see the error message, at any rate. Good if you have something you want to see and interact with that will actually RUN on your computer but your computer don’t have a built-in disc drive so you can see it, otherwise, stay away.

I was looking for something inexpensive and able to get the job done since I haven't needed a drive for years! This device far exceeded my expectaions. Ease of use, plug and play (for a MAC OS no less) and seamless. I decided to use it to burn a dvd just for nostalgic reasons and it did not disappoint. I was truly impressed with this device. I would recommend purchashing this.

Overall, it’s a dependable and affordable solution for anyone who still uses physical media. Simple, effective, and does exactly what you need it to do.

The ASUS external DVD Reader/Writer worked well. I needed to get old photos that were stored on DVDs quite a few years ago removed from the DVDs and stored on flash drives. I also had quite a few of the photos made into prints. The ASUS DVD Reader/Writer worked well and I am pleased to have purchased it.

Works just fine for what I use it for but what I found odd is the way they positioned the Asus logo on it, If you sit the drive on a desk with the cable out the back as per normal, the logo is sideways but if you stick it to the side of the pc case like I did, it's perfect. Also happens to be just the right amount of usb c length cable to reach around to the back of my pc.

Love these speakers. I did have a little trouble getting them into stereo mode. Sound quality is excellent.

Bought this external drive for my asus gaming laptop. Works flawless no skips or drive not found. Comes with multiple plug in cords for laptop. Also comes with software on a cd for burning. Good external drive for the price. Recommend to all.

Works great. Can copy/burn DVDs and CDs. The included software is iffy. Better ones online.

Perfect price and functionality. Does what it's supposed to do, without a hiccup. Plug and play, no issues. Reads all types of discs, good for converting old DVDs or CDs to digital format. Especially since PCs these days don't come with a disc drive anymore.

I'm using the ZenDrive it to build a digital music library of my CDs. Works great with and without the included software disk. It takes a couple minutes on average to rip a CD. Spent a day going through 100+ CDs ripping most to 320kbps mp3 and the drive disconnected (unrecognized as a USB device) maybe 2-3 times, it does get warm after a few CDs back to back. Depending on the CD sometimes the CD won't rip while using the legacy Windows Media Player and you'll need to install the included software and rip using that. No issues with the drive itself. I travel frequently and ended up buying this due to my location at the time. I also have the ~$30 LG disk drive and they both perform very similarly.

So far so good. I had the hardest time finding something that would be compatible with my new iMac with the M1 chip. This worked! I had to put a CD in before it would detect it but I am happy to say I was able to upload songs to my computer. Now I don't have to repurchase my old CD library.

Great product. I needed a dependable drive to record audio and video files that works with Windows 11. This works great. Reasonable price and great reviews. I always research before purchasing and this truly lived up to its awesome reviews.

Yes, you can playback DVDs with this ASUS EXTERNAL CD/DVD writer. And while the tray is still empty, you can use the onscreen display to eject it, but when it’s actually loaded, that method doesn’t work, so it has to be manually ejected using a pin via the pinhole. Haven’t tried burning a disc with it yet, but it’s possible that it’s a similar maneuver. I’m only using this with my Mac mini having Apple silicon- so at least it works! You’d have to experiment with Mac versions of playback software for satisfactory results. So can ASUS update the firmware so that this is 100% operational with latest macOS? The unit comes with 2 cables; I’m using the USB-C.

Nice small external drive. Runs smooth and is quite. Easy to install with just two connections. One to a computer and the other to an electrical outlet.
