Atomfall - PlayStation 5

Picked up this game and the first berserker game, they are both great games. Atomfall is a fallout/metro type of game , it really has its own feel and good atmosphere while running around exploring or fighting , highly recommend this game , also it has the option to change the difficulty level to whatever playstyle you like

Rebellion's latest has surface-level similarities to Fallout, but it's very much its own thing. For one, it's far shorter. Even if you take your time to pursue multiple possible endings and explore the five main areas and various bunkers (dungeons), you're in for, at most, 30 hours by my guess. A speed run (for one of the trophies) grants you a five hour limit, but an optimal, well-planned run on easy that skips exploration and role-playing takes less than an hour. Speaking of that, it's also not an RPG. You can unlock passive skills, but they require training manuals and stimulants (both being items you find in the world). There's crafting, which requires components and the diagrams to unlock them. It took a while to click, but I enjoyed it all the more for what it is, which isn't Fallout.

Reminiscent of fallout three but in an English setting. The world you must explore is large and looks gorgeous on PS5. Will keep you entertained for countless hours with its’ emphasis on exploration and combat.

Let's talk about the Elephant in the Room first. If you are getting this expecting something like "Fallout", you will be disappointed. That is not what this game is. The Story: In Atomfall, you are in an Alternate History England where the very real Windscale fire turn a large portion of the game area into a quarantine zone. This is not an "end of the world" situation. The main story of the game is exploring the world to figure out what exactly happened, if there is anything to do to fix it, and escaping the quarantine zone. I really liked the story once I realized what it was. It is well written, lots of lore to discover from the different groups in the game, showing how everyone grouped up to survive the disaster. There are six different endings you can get, depending on who you teamed up with to plan your escape, and they are all pretty interesting. I don't have any negative things to say about the story. Character Development/Progression: This is not an RPG. You do not earn XP and gain levels. You can unlock skills, but in order to do this, you need to find skill manuals to unlock the skill, and "Training Stimulants" to get skill points. I don't love this part of the game. I wish it would have been one or the other, the games wants you to play multiple times, but having to get the manuals each play-though is obnoxious. If the manuals were more abundant, it wouldn't have made character progression such a chore. Your character is kind of a "Blank Slate." You have amnesia and don't know much more than that. The World: There are five major zones in the game and they all look amazing. The zones don't differ from each other by much, though. The standout is a zone called The Interchange, which exploring is the main mission in the game. Navigation of The Interchange is frustrating because of how large it is, how many locked doors there are, and how you have to enter The Interchange from the different zones to fully unlock all of the doors. It is kinda of a pain. Another frustrating thing is, unless you are following a guide, you can enter an area and not have all of the keys to fully explore it, and have to come back when you find the key. So you need to remember where a locked door was for when you get the key to open it. Crafting: You can find recipes in the game-world to make various things to help you in the game. Throw-able weapons, grenades, explosives, and healing items. There are places and vendors who will always have certain recipes, but you can also find them randomly while looting items. I am neutral on this aspect of the game. Inventory Management: This is probably the worst part of the game, and I looked up other reviews, and others have mentioned how unusual it was as well. You can hold three key items, once you pick them up, they are in your inventory forever. Not an issue, but kind of a bummer that you can't pick up a second one to sell. You have four inventory slots just for two-handed weapons, like bats, rifles, and shotguns. This leaves you with 12 slots for everything else. You can find "Pneumatic Dispatch Tubes" that work as a storage system for items you don't want to carry around, but even that can only hold 100 items. I quickly filled up my storage with weapons thinking that I could use them to trade and whatnot, but the trading system is also very limited. There isn't a currency in the game, so you can't just amass wealth indefinitely, which I like, but traders don't have an extensive enough inventory to really worry about it anyways. Each trader is worth visiting once to get whatever they have in their "Special Item" slot, but other than that, no need to keep things "just to sell". You can get a skill to upgrade your weapons by combining them, the weapons are more abundant than ammo, so not too hard to come by. Gameplay: There is a stealth system, I didn't embrace it so I can't really say anything about how it works. The controls are very solid, works the way you would expect. Didn't run into any game-breaking glitches or bugs. It is a pretty solid experience.

Very cool open world game. Lots to do, many different types of enemy. Bunkers, forests, castles, ruins, all great for exploration and hunting.
