On 1/24/2015 I bought a Samsung 65” LED Curved 4K Ultra HD TV. The cost of the TV was $2,300. You would think the sound system would be fantastic, it wasn’t. On 1/27/2015 I bought a Bose CineMate 15 Home Theater System. The folks at Best Buy were not sure if the HDMI digital optical cable came with the Bose CineMate 15 system until we opened the box. It was short, so I upgraded to the AudioQuest Forest OptiLink 4.9'. I never used the stock cables from Bose, so I cannot rate the difference. I can say the Bose CineMate 15 system with AudioQuest Forest OptiLink 4.9' cables sound much better than the Samsung 65” LED HD TV stock speakers. It seems to make sense when buying a premium HD TV to upgrade the sound system, thus the cables to then equal the HD TV viewing and sound experience. Is this the right thing to do? The choice is up to you. At least we as consumers have the option. Yes, I am satisfied with all my purchases leading up to the AudioQuest Forest OptiLink 4.9' cables. I would do it all over again if I had a “do over.” The sound provided today is “Super Fantastic.” The HD TV viewing and sound experience is complete.

After using a cheap Amazon basics optical cable coming out my tv to my integrated amp for a year I decided this was at the right price to give it a shot. Why not? I have audiophile grade equipment, so why would I want to cheat it out of a good connection? I didn’t expect a night and day difference and didn’t get it. At first I thought it might have made the sound a little lighter. It may have taken some warmth out. Over time I could tell I got more detail from the top end. My moment of appreciation was when testing it with Guardians of the Galaxy and the beginning scene where he pops in the tape and hits play; I could hear the wheels turn and squeak on his Walkman. Had never heard that before on my system and I know the movie pretty well. When playing music I can notice a little more air in the top end. Will anyone else notice the difference? No. But I do because I know my system pretty well. So overall this is one of those things that allows you to tweak your system very slightly for your own satisfaction. Worth the money? I’d say yes considering I know it’s quality and I’ll be using it for years to come. It lets me squeeze just a little more out of my favorite system. It’s not a must though. I was a little disappointed at how thin the new model is but that can also be an advantage when doing placement. The connectors seemed a little looser than my previous cheap cable too.

For an Bose solo soundbar (first solo model): Works great, easy to use, nice sound, no complaints! I had first tried a cheap digital optical cable from OfficeMax that strangely didn't fit well (I never could get it to "snap" in and it would literally fall out of both the tv and sound bar ports... the plastic grip part was too far up on the male port and prevented it from plugging in correctly). This is a significant improvement.

This is the best cable I have ever had. I had a insigna earlier which was giving some quenching sound on a high volume. But when I replace that with this I really started feeling the difference. Although you pay little more for it, you will not feel the pain of the cost. Its a one time pay but the quality will for sure beat any other cable.

First, the cable is long enough to connect my Sonos Playbar to the Sony 3D TV routed through a built-in shelf in my home. Second, the performance appears to render an even clearer sound for cable and other TV media - compared to the original vendor supplied optical connector.

This cable is the best. No problems with bending it around corners two and three times in order to get it connected to the si-called "smart TV's" cable box. If Samsung were to ever improve its Audio capabilities - which I doubt will ever happen -- then you'd no longer need this king-of-all-wires. Does its job better than any other on the market but it's also the most costly. You get what you pay for. No sacrifices on sound with this wire.

Upgraded TV to 4K and needed to get the 4K sound from the TV to the stereo (of course you need a 4K receiver) - this optical cable did the trick. Easy to connect and very pleased with the results. Now spend more time streaming uTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime... with a great picture and sound.

Great quality cable. Nice long length to run inside a wall. Quality sound, no negatives. Definitely a nice optical cable that I'd recommend if your serious about your sound.

This optical cable is used for connecting the sound bar to the tv. It is a perfect length and being covered with cloth, it does not rub the wall. This is the perfect addition to the new sound bar purchase. Glad I took the recommendation during purchase of the sound bar.

If you dont have an extra HDMI port the optical cable is a great substitute. Easily connects to a set cable box or video game console this is the way to go. I connected my sound bar and Xbox one with it and it gives off a clear static free sound.

I have a sound system that only has one hdmi out because it's an older blu-ray 3D player that is also a 5.1 Dolby True Sound Dolby Digital but there is no HDMI input port, but there is an Optical Input Port and my old optical cable was shot, I noticed because the sound kept dropping out. After buying these, which can be run behind the walls, I have had no issues. They sell PVC insulated jacket and also braided, both are great for protection of the inside line and you don't have to worry about bending but you do want to avoid so much bending that it pinches the wire. You don't want you cut off the light signal. Got it? Good. These are very good quality and will last a long time.

As someone else has pointed out, I was not really knowledgeable regarding optical cables simply because i just never needed one but once i got OLED TV - it really did not have any other output but optical and i needed a great sound coming out of the smart TV so, i did read lots of reviews on this brand and all of the "real" reviews were great. I also did read that there are differences between some cheap non-brand or some not so popular brands in the quality of sound. So, the decision was easy for me. I bought it and hooked it up through YAMAHA receiver. I now watch youtube and listen to pandora or anything else from the smart tv and the sound is great. I really have no complaints.

Great quality cable was perfect for what I needed and a perfect length. Used to cross over cable box to surround sound system, so we could use the surround sound system with regular tv.

It sounds amazing; offering a true surround experience. It is better than the HDMI cable for true surround sound. I have it running from an Insignia F30 75” 4k to the LG S80QY sound bar and LG 140w wireless rear speakers. Excellent quality, especially when watching ’Band of Brothers’, or that genre. It is more enveloping with the E-ARC setting…through the digital-optical cable.

This optical cable was easy to install and I believe it is a better quality than the ones that cost less. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for
