I usually enjoy the older movies because the sets, dialog and the music usually enhances the story. While not one of Wayne's better films the setting and other actors made the difference.

This in not one of John Waynes best, but he does MUCH better than his role as Ghengis Khan. Pretty good from a historical review and it is safe family fare.

I didn't know John Wayne "The Duke" made this movie. It was entertaining and worth the price.

My wife loves the classics, but there is only so much you can do with Blueray.

This movie is a very different vehicle for John Wayne. Like most of you, I was mainly familiar with his Western work, the bulk of his cinema output. This movie is so far from that demographic, it would need 2 buses and a train just to get back there. That being said the film isn't bad. John Wayne isn't exactly believable as a US Diplomat to reclusive Japan but since Wayne always played Wayne it could've been a lot worse. Some of the island scenery is well shot but don't go into the film expecting any lawman jargon, bar fights or cattle rustlers. It's quite boring in plot, is basically a love story between a Geisha hired to spy on Wayne and himself. For novelty's sake alone, it's worth checking out for 1 of the few non-John Wayne roles he ever did that's out on Blu-ray.

John Wayne did a fine job in this movie which was filmed entirely in Japan. The supporting cast was a nice compliment to Wayne. The story was well done. I thought the photography makes it a worth while movie to see.

Love anything that has to do with Japan. I'm not a fan of John Wayne, (it's his voice that gets to me) but I did enjoy this flick of him and a geisha. I recommend this flick of Mr. Wayne actually not playing a cowboy.

And it's bound to offend anymore. John Wayne and his geisha. I mean, there are worse things to watch...?
