About this product
Felix Mendelssohn's string symphonies can be broadly split into two groups the first six all have a three-movement structure; the movements of the first three are ordered fast-slow-fast and are thus based on the pre-Classical models. The second group of string symphonies comprises more substantial compositions. This features no. 7 in D minor, no. 9 in C major, and no. 12 in G minor. There are several ways through these three symphonies when we hear Mendelssohn's ingenuity break fresh ground. The Bolzano String Academy was established in 1987 by the South Tyrolean Music Association under the artistic direction of Georg Egger. The string orchestra consists mainly of South Tyrolean musicians who have gained a wealth of experience in prominent chamber ensembles and orchestras at national and international level and pass on their experience in joint projects with budding young artists. The String Academy usually performs without a conductor. Some of the String Academy's members also play in the Klassische Philharmonie Stuttgart, and this connection has led to collaboration with the conductor Frieder Bernius. Album Tracks 1. Sinfonie VII in D-Moll MWV N 7 2. Sinfonie IX in C-Dur MWV N 9 3. Sinfonie XII in G-Moll MWV N 12

The first two releases in the Wiener Symphoniker's first full recorded Beethoven's symphony cycle met with universal acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Now the third part, in the form of Symphonies Nos. 2 and 7, is being released. The album is part of the Wiener Symphoniker's Road to Beethoven, a project to prepare for the year 2020, the 250th anniversary of the composer, a towering father-figure for classical music. With this new , the Wiener Symphoniker are hoping to follow up on the great success of their first two albums in the cycle. Both the first with Symphonies Nos. 1 and 3 and the second with Nos. 4 and 5 have been picked as Inchalbum of the monthInch by various international music magazines. Based on these releases, the British Gramophone magazine nominated the orchestra for InchOrchestra of the Year 2018Inch. In particular, the magazine praised Jordan's approach of combining the classic Viennese sound with a more modern, leaner interpretation, original tempos and insights from historically informed performance. For Jordan, the content of the music was paramount. His goal was not to revere Beethoven as a monument but rather to present him in a more Inchnatural, direct and personalInch way. Album Tracks 1. Symphony No.2 in D Major Op. 36 2. Symphony No. 7 in a Major, Op. 92
