I was super happy with this product for about 7 months. Yes it does run warm, but initially all the ports worked as advertised as did the dual monitor support for my MacBook Air. Then suddenly one of the HDMI ports stopped working and the InstantView software didn't recognize the USB connection to the computer. I tried updating and reinstalling drivers and the app to no avail. The power and other data connections still work, so it's not totally useless, but unfortunately no longer does the one thing I really needed it to.

Regarding your note on dual monitor support with MacBook Air: you are correct that macOS devices, including MacBook Air models, do not support dual extended displays over USB-C hubs due to system limitations. The hub will still provide single external display support along with all other connectivity features (USB, Ethernet, SD, and power delivery).

Bought this so my wife could work off of 2 monitors while putting her laptop in clamshell mode. I asked her what she thought about it and she said "honestly I haven't thought about it all." If she had issues with it it would be frustrating her.

It works great as a docking station, just without a power source. It runs a little warm, but it does the job. Also, there is a sticker it ships with alerting you to download silicon motion drivers before using it. That could be a problem for anyone who needs approval from the “powers that be” before installing the drivers.
