Q: does it shut off auto if i forget to turn it off?
A: Yes. Standby Auto Shut-Off: If left on but not in use, the unit will automatically shut off after 30 minutes of inactivity during standby mode.
A: Exactly the same happened to ours. Lasted less than 3 weeks. Best Buy's worst in class return policy is 14 days. So you're screwed unless you're diligent enough to go through the Bella Pro warranty process. You must be good with uploading video and sharing large digital files. Otherwise, just take the loss and stay far away from Best Buy stores. I own a digital media company. I can play this game better than them. I will get a replacement from this warranty.
Q: The top plate does not seem heated. Is this something that has to be turned on?
A: I only notice it warming up slightly after making a cup or using the wand. So, not effective for warming up the cup before use.
Q: Are the internal parts plastic or metal?
A: Metal
Q: Can you use regular grounds? Or must you buy pods?
A: This specific model is designed for ground coffee only and does not support pods.
Q: I don't see any mention of making crema, does it ?
A: Use a high quality ground and tap down tightly and you will get a nice crema foam
