This shampooer works very well. It’s not for the faint of heart - it’s heavy and difficult to tote around. This is essentially a commercial machine you would rent from the hardware store. And for big rooms, it is one of the best. Here’s the process that works best for me: 1-vacuum thoroughly both ways with a plug in vacuum. 2-mix the shampoo with water according to directions into a pump sprayer to spray it all over the carpet. 3-use a hard bristle broom and work the shampoo in all over the carpet paying extra attention to the dirtiest spots 4-Give the shampoo another 20-30 minutes to work on the dirt and stains. Spray a little extra on the dirty spots 5-fill the machine with hot water ONLY. As hot as you can get it out of your tap. 130degrees or so 6-Make 2 “wet passes Pulling it both times 7- make 2 dry passes pulling both times 8-continue until you have done the entire room 9 - give it a day to dry Simply filling the reservoir with shampoo/water mix doesn’t give the shampoo time to work. And it’s doesn’t get it all out when you make the dry pass. Using the shampoo ahead of time and scrubbing it in works better for me and uses way less shampoo. Also know that the roller is not as wide as the machine itself, so make sure you overlap. This is not a fast process, so make sure you have a day to commit to it. But it will clean your carpet
