Q: Can this be used for high pile carpet?
A: Vacuum cleaners and I do not get along at all. We have five dogs so I need a powerful vacuum. We've only had this one for a couple of weeks. Our carpet is thick and medium height, and it seems to be doing just fine, so far. I do want to point out that the width of this vacuum is not as wide as our previous ones most of which die a few months after purchase (different brands), so this one requires more effort to vacuum but it wasn't a big enough deal to return it. The cord does not retract, because the canister comes off so the cord is wound around the vac. So far it's been okay. There is a good deal of suction when using the attachments (for spilled dog food). If you're not going to use the canister independently, I would recommend any vacuum where the cord retracts. Also if the width is important, look at others. I'm not in the position to recommend anything, considering that our vacs don't last long. What I will recommend, however, is the BestBuy extended warranty, because BestBuy has replaced every single failed vacuum for us on the spot. It's July as I write this, and this is third vacuum so far this year. I'm not sure if we've been unlucky or have made bad choices despite researching the vacuums, but the warranty is well worth it.
Q: is there a different filter you can get that is not a febreze filter?
A: Hi Sarah - we have unscented foam pre-motor filters. The part is number 1603437 and it's available through BISSELL online or over the phone at 800-237-7691.
A: No, you can’t lock the cleaning head in place while vacuuming. This vacuum does work very well.
Q: Does this have a retractable cord?
A: No, it does not.
Q: How heavy is it? Is it loud?
A: Not heavy at all the detachment that allows you to clean stairs or higher to reach places is really lite. And as for loudness of the noise it’s a bit quieter than most vacuums. My only complaints are that the febreeze filter isn’t located within the canister so all the debris isn’t contained inside. And I know this sounds trivial but I don’t care for the hair or fur trapped in the brushes, which I usually cut off after I use each time. But other than that I would recommend at the price point. If it was more expensive I would go with another model.
A: Had the same issue. On my 5th Bissell supplied brush. Complete garbage!
Q: Is this the model that comes with adjustable suction and the duster attachment?
A: Yes, the suction is adjustable.
A: Not very loud at all...at least for a vacuum.
