I would like to leave the unit on the comfort mode (45-55% humidity), but I gave up when I saw the humidity level was >60% in our basement - while the unit was giving a digital reading of 38%. The only way I can keep the humidity to an acceptable level is by setting it on the continuous mode at the lowest humidity setting. The display usually reads 30%, but the actual level is usually in the than 40s according to a separate device (which correlated well with our last dehumidifier. I am also using it on the pump setting: The manual states the drain tube should not be elevated more than 16" from the base of the unit. Our drain is several feet above the floor, but so far no problem. I kept it because it's working well enough for what I was looking for in spite of its shortcomings.
