A: As long as you have wifi and a compatible mobile device we ship everything needed to get set-up and started with our Blink Kits/Systems. You are able to adjust your camera settings, view video clips, receive notifications, and access live view through the App on your compatible mobile device from anywhere as long as you have a WIFI or cellular connection. This is important to note for your cellular data plan, watching a five second motion clip without WIFI connection will use about 750KB of your data plan.
A: No you don't "need" a subscription. You can plug a thumb drive into your hub to review your camera activity. If you want to watch a video of any camera while you are away from home; you can't without a subscription. The subscription stores all video clips in a cloud and can be accessed any time and anywhere. Without a subscription you will have to use a thumbdrive to store the videos and then remove the thumbdrive from the hub after you return home and plug it into a computer to review any video activity. My free cloud trial expired 2 days ago. The cameras still detect movement but leave a blank video window on my app. Cloud was free until about a year ago. Blink went from free to $3 per camera each month or $10 unlimited cameras per month. I will probably subscribe. If I am notified of movement when away from home, I want to see what it is right away and not wait till I return and plug a thumbdrive in the computer, hours or maybe days later. Hope that helps.
Q: Does this camera have night vision? Thank you! And do you have to pay for storage?
A: The Blink Indoor cameras utilize IR night vision in low light or no light situations. A subscription is not required to use the Blink cameras. You can enjoy helpful features like live view, two-way audio and motion notifications. If you would like to record and save your motion clips you can opt for our monthly or annual Blink cloud Subscription Plans (new cameras come with a free trial of the Blink Plus Plan) or you can use the Sync Module 2 and USB flash drive for local storage and no additional fees.
Q: I only have one camera, do I need to use the synk module?
A: The Indoor Cameras (like the Outdoor) require a Sync Module to onboard. The only Blink devices which do not explicitly require a Sync Module in order to onboard and function are: Mini Camera, Video Doorbell and Wired Floodlight Camera. One Sync Module can support up to ten cameras simultaneously.
Q: Can you download a video directly to your iPhone?
A: Yes if you pay for the membership
A: Blink requires a high speed 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (no satellite or hot spot) and a minimum of 2mbps upload speed per Blink device available (after the other devices in your home take their share) in order to operate normally. Blink is not compatible with 5GHz networks which is why it is not working. I love them but they would be better if they put out some kind of light when motion turns them on or an internal light because at night the image is not very good
