A: The device comes with a fabric that function as a pre-filter. The fabric obviously can be washed when it gets dirty. The main filter can't be washed. It has to be replaced.
A: The difference is the more expensive one is the "Auto" model - it has a setting where it automatically slows down / speeds up based on the air quality of the room. The other main difference is the more expensive one uses less electricity. For these two reasons, I bought the Auto one. But the price difference was only $40-50 at the time so it was an easy choice, especially since the Auto uses less electricity (more efficient motor) so it ends up being cheaper to own over the long run. The energy use for 211+ is 30-61 watts. The 211+ Auto is 4-38 watts. Per the Blueair website.
Q: Is this machine appropriate for sufficiently removing toxins by way of smokey weather from a space?
A: I’m not sure that I understand your question. If you are asking about what the air purifiers response to smoke is…well the fan picks up the scent and it begins to speed up and by this time the blue light on the indicator is turning to yellow first, then red. The red indicates the air is polluted and the purifier is working at 100%. As the air quality resumes to normal so does the light… it turns to blue.
Q: Does this air purifier remove the fumes from a gas cooking range?
A: Hi there, the Blue Pure 211+ Auto does contain carbon in its filter and would work for this purpose. However, please note that the Blueair purifiers with the highest removal of VOCs are the HealthProtect family (which feature a SmartFilter that has activated coconut carbon directly infused into the weaves), Classic 80i family (which come standard with DualProtection filters), Pro family (when upgraded with the Carbon + filter add-on or SmokeStop filters), and the Blue Pure 121 (when upgraded with the Extra Protection Particle + Carbon filter).
Q: Does this air purifier help reduce mold spores?
A: Hi there, Blueair's HEPASilent™ technology captures at least 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 microns in size, which would include mold spores.
Q: How much do the replacement filters cost/
A: The outside filter is washable even hand washable the inside filter will last almost a year and you can find deals at Walmart for around 20 bucks
Q: Does the Blueair Blue Pure 211+ and or its filtrations create or omit Ozone?
A: To "The Dude". It is not just a filter. This is from their website from the 211+ Auto page. "Blueair air purifiers use HEPASilent™ dual filtration technology, delivering maximum filtration with minimum noise. This dual filtration technology pioneered by Blueair combines electrostatic charging of particles and mechanical filtration." Electrostatic charging sounds like more than a just a filter to me. I returned mine because of this.
Q: Does this filter remove pet dander?
A: Yes the outside layer of the fabric will catch most pet dander and any of the finer particles get caught inside the larger filter
