Breville - the Luxe Brewer Glass Coffee Maker - Brushed Stainless Steel

Calling this coffee maker disappointing would be an understatement. I paid approximately $300 for a Breville coffee maker because I believed I was purchasing a premium appliance from a company known for quality. What I got was an expensive lesson in why a premium price does not necessarily mean a premium product. This coffee maker is less than a year old and is literally falling apart. That alone is unacceptable for a $300 appliance that has received normal household use. I have owned much less expensive coffee makers that were built better, performed better, and lasted considerably longer. And the problems aren't just cosmetic or related to construction—the actual performance is terrible. One of my biggest complaints is that the coffee does not stay properly hot unless I make close to 10 cups or more. If I make a smaller pot, which should be a perfectly normal use for a household coffee maker, the coffee simply does not remain hot. For a machine costing around $300, expecting it to brew and maintain HOT coffee should not be an unreasonable expectation. That is Coffee Maker 101. What exactly am I paying $300 for? Certainly not durability. Certainly not dependable performance. And apparently not consistently hot coffee. A supposedly premium appliance should not be physically deteriorating before its first birthday. At this price point, I expected thoughtful engineering, quality materials, solid construction, and years of dependable service. Instead, this machine has delivered frustration and buyer's remorse. Breville should be embarrassed to have a product at this price point deteriorate this badly in less than a year. A $300 coffee maker should feel substantially better than a bargain appliance—not leave you wondering why you didn't simply buy the cheaper machine. I purchased Breville specifically because I believed I was paying more for superior quality. Based on my experience, I paid more and received less. Less than one year old. Approximately $300. Already falling apart. Performs terribly. Won't keep a smaller pot of coffee hot. Completely unacceptable. I would not purchase this coffee maker again, and I absolutely cannot recommend it.

This coffee maker brews excellent coffee especially on custom settings. I got the glass carafe because I like to see the brew results and I don’t keep coffee for hours. In addition I don’t like the brown staining that stainless;Ed’s steel has a tendency to develop. When I need to hold coffee I just transfer it to a thermal carafe. I don’t understand the issues some people have with this brewer as it was very easy to set up and use. Just follow the instructions! We find the coffee to be perfect temperature, complex, aromatic and delicious. I like my coffee strong and this Breville Luxe delivers excellent strong coffee. It is moderately expensive but worth it.

Excellent coffee maker. I have yet to go into the custom brew as we are very satisfied with the default settings. The instruction manual is a little vague on some things. Like setting the keep warm time at first. We are slowly working our way through the settings as we come to them. The delay brew time as far as I can tell must be set each time you want to set it so that the coffee is done when I wake up (3:00 am). The clock and start time as far as I have experienced do not have a memory. It does brew fast and make a little noise since it has a pump. Nothing to distracting but definitely not quiet. But the results are so worth it. It will be fun exploring all the options that this coffee maker has. Hopefully for years to come.

Great coffee maker can adjust warmer up to 6 hours

So glad I found this coffee maker at Best Buy, got plenty of help from the salesperson he knew his stuff. Makes a super cup of coffee and super easy to use. I would recommend to anyone. Paul P.
