It's open range meets lonesome dove Robert Duval fits into them cowboy boots perfect, wish more movies be made to those standards.

If you like western movies, this is a good one to add to your collection. Robert Duvall is an excellent actor and plays his roll so well....as usual! The story is well done. This is one I will watch again! Perfect title for this movie!

A beautiful Western movie, but at times rough and violent. Not for children 13 and under. It shows prostitution and slavery as a business, talks of venereal disease, revealing tight corsets and brief nudity of young Chinese women as they are being inspected. Life is shown as rough and out in the Western country. In one scene, a lame horse is not treated, but suddenly shot in the head.

You don't get a whole lot better than this combination of director and actor. Brilliant work from lead actors, while being guided by Walter Hill.

Where can you go wrong , Robert Duvall and Thomas Hayden Church with incredible roles, great story, action and reminds me in a way of Open Range.

This is one of the family favorites to watch about the Old West. Very satisfying picture of life in the "old days"

Good rendition of the history of actual events in the west. Although not exactly the way it happened, it was still a good movie.

This is NOT an action western. It's more a character study. If you expect action, you will be bored in half an hour.

Good movie been wanting to buy it for a while and got it

If you enjoy Westerns such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Unforgiven and Open Range, then you will enjoy this film as well. Actually, the film is very similar to Open Range. Cowboys are moving horses (for sale) from one location to the another and rescues 5 women in distress. While tending to their horses and caring for the women, the cowboys run into problems while staying at "dead-end" town. The cowboys rescue another woman with a dark past and a man. A cut thoat posse is assembled to capture the problematic woman. The film is long but steady.

If you liked the movie "Open Range" which also starred Robert Duvall you will like this one.
