Easy set up and very good quality printing. I was able to print from my computer and my iPhone. very nice. Set up was easy, just make sure you have a USB cable available even if you want to set it up wireless.

I purchased this printer on sale at Best Buy for about $157 and I am very impressed with it. It is connected to my home wired LAN but it can also print from our iPads wirelessly. The color is great even on cheap copier paper and the duplex capability allows it to print on both sides of the paper. While the toner cartridges for all color printers regardless of brand tend to be high, I have an inexpensive B/W laser printer as the work horse and I use this one for color jobs.

I finally upgraded to a color laser printer...but 99 percent of what I do is all black and white...so this is a great value and it's a real pleasure to have a color printer for presentations and finished work. But this printer has a function that stops it mid-job to cool down. If you're doing more than ten pages it may stop more than once. So what is a pretty good speed for Black and White...turns into a pretty slow printer when it's stopping ever five or six pages to cool down. I still haven't quite cracked it...it feels like it's more apt to overheat with certain programs...which doesn't make any sense. Why would it require more energy to print a PDF than a Word file? Maybe it's in my head. But if you're looking for a color laser printer that you could call "a workhorse" this isn't it. This is a great printer for light work, mostly black and white and some color. The quality, is EXCELLENT. And the printer so far, is very reliable. At the price I'd say it's a great value. Just make sure you're not on a schedule when you're printing.

Purchased Laser printer to replace an office InkJet, that was using lots of ink, and thought this might be an less expensive way to help save $$. The unit is quite large, bit heavy, and bulky, but it looks like most Laser printers are. On my intial set-up. I tried downloading the drivers from brothers website, vs. using the set up cd. During the download process Malware was downloaded, and the driver would not update. I phoned tech support. The tech took control of my computer and tried to download the same driver, and yet more malware came up. The tech tried to get me to pay $200 to get rid of the malware and download the drivers! WHAT??, She tried to say the malware was already on my Mac. When I asked her to go into my download history, it showed the malware was all downloaded that day with-in that hour. I ended her connection, and hung up the phone. Users Beware!!! Next day I ran Malwarebytes, a free removal program at the recommendation of a Trusted computer repair tech. After removing all the malware that came from Brothers website. I used the set-up cd, but had to use a external drive to do so, as my Macbook pro doesn't have a cd drive. The install went smooth the rest of the way. I've been using the laser printer now for about 5 days, have ran around a 100pages through it, and am really happy with its print quality, fairly fast, and for sure quiet. I was spending around $100 on ink per month for my inkJet, so time will tell about the costs of this laser printer, so far other than Brother tech support wich I give two thumbs down to, the unit is performing as expected.

Finally got fed up with inkjet printers, and decided to make the move to laser. After much research, landed on this Brother. Prints very fast, no annoying back and forth and slowness of an inkjet. The wireless works great as I don't have to have it near the computer desk. Was very easy to set up and have had zero printing problems. Price cannot be beat for such a quality laser printer.

After several years of owning an inkjet that constantly ran out of ink [usually in the middle of a project] with 4 school age children, it was beyond time to find another option besides a B/W laser. This LED printer fit the bill perfect! It uses color toner cartridges that have a longer shelf life and a greater production capacity which is a must for children who are doing color graphic reports for school. It also is much easier to select B/W only when needed and it automatically prints to both sides of paper so I do not have to remember before I hit print. It also gives the option for alternate paper sizes. Best of all it offers multiple options to connect wirelessly regardless of your device [Apple, Windows, etc] so each member of the family can use. This is NOT a photo printer by any means, the dpi resolution and print technology are not conducive for it but it is perfect for everyday printing of reports and/or graphics in color or B/W at a high speed and definitely a very cost effective option for a large family or even a small business.

I thought the product set up went very well and was easy. I bought this printer because I got sick of the high printer ink costs of inkjet printers. This printer prints 2000 pages before you need to change toner, and the cheaper generic toner available have great reviews. Even if you buy Brother toner for this, the cost per page is less than inkjet printers, and toner doesn't dry out. Brother also has great reviews on being dependable.

Got tired of replacing ink cartridges in previous all-in-one. Had a black-and-white laser for a few years but also needed/wanted wireless capability. Had no desire/need to spend $300+ for a printer, so this model hit all the check boxes for us. Easy to set up, easy to install drivers and it picks up requests from multiple computers and Apple devices with ease. We use the "eco-mode" for most printing... have not tried anything on hi-res with good paper yet, but it does the job for us. Only complaint is that it seems quirky when my work VPN is enabled... can't pick up the print requests until I log out of VPN. I'm sure there are ways around this... I simply have not bothered to dig into it yet.

My HP 2605DN is on its last leg so I start looking at a replacement for it. Not wanting to get another HP due to its expensive toner I settle for this Brother printer as it has the features I want plus less expensive original or OEM replacement toners. So far, it hasn't disappointed me yet. First page out is fairly quick, about on par with the old HP. And so is the noise level (kinda loud). The print quality seems ok. I'm a bit concerned about the reported issue with disintegrated rollers but will see how it goes in a year or two.

I researched for an affordable printer to use at home. Some printouts for work, but mostly printouts for documents, tickets, travel, prescribed reading. I was going to get a black and white laser, but saw the prices for color laser not much more expensive. I narrowed my choices down to Canon (owned a couple in the past), but new Brother was always a reputable brand especially for home office products. Saw awesome reviews everywhere. Pros: easy setup, beautiful prints/copies, wireless setup skips the clutter, and I'm sure these starter ink drums will last quite a bit. Already used it to print several travel/concert documents. Quiet operation, too. Cons: Though I knew this particular model was quite big, it was even bigger out of box. Can't complain on price and performance, though.

It was very easy to set up. It was a little bigger than I expected. I needed a table to set it on. Printing quality is very good.

After years of inkjet printers and cartridges drying out I finally purchased this color laser. I am very impressed, especially for one with these features in this price range. Built in wifi, duplex printing (both sides) and iOS printing. Which by the way worked perfectly for me on my first try. I highly recommend this printer and have to several friends.

So far, very reliable. I expect that replacing 4 toner cartridges will cost more than the original machine. Print quality is very good. Color better than I expected - good enough for color snapshots or b/w letters & reports. It prints easily from your cell phone or laptop.

I had this out of the box, installed (wireless), and printing in less than 10 minutes. It's a tiny bit bulky, but I don't mind. I am a huge fan of toner over ink cartridges. This printer is very quiet and it prints clear and crisp documents.

We bought this color printer because of its small foot print, user-friendly features, easy set-up, duplex printing & wireless capability. On installation, our Windows Pro found the drivers and installed them without problems. We did not even have to use the provided installation disk. We printed a couple of photos on this and some color and details were not accurate as expected. For regular black & white documents or text, it delivers. The printer is fast (for daily home use), toner is reasonably priced and available in most on-line stores & at Best Buy. We just wish the display screen is tiltable and with more function keys or shortcut keys available on the panel to make it easier to navigate and read. Other than these, we found the printer to be well built, reliable and economical for daily home office use.

The Brother HL-3170CDW is an amazing printer. It is fast, you can set the toner consuming and both side printing. It is a great acquisition to students, researchers and people in need to print out reading material and printer proofs. However, it is big, really big. So, it does not fit on normal spaces to printers available in the office rooms and furniture. It is also heavy.

I bought this the night before a big conference, when I decided I needed to have some additional handouts available. I wanted something that offered better quality prints than what I had on my ink jet. I was pleasantly surprised with the print color, clarity, and speed of this Brother printer. It was easy to set up and connect to my home network. A good purchase!

Looked at several printers before buying this one. Costs a bit more than the ones without an ethernet port but I still like having both wired and wireless options. Setup was easy and painlessly. Except when entering wireless connection information. It's a printer, so that's expected. AirPrint works well. I do not print as much so we'll see how heavy it will be on the toners.
