Q: Does this printer work equally well with Apple and PC units?
A: Our 2011 Brother printer model HL-2270DW looks the same as this. It works w/our apple computers BUT our Air & Pro do NOT have a cd reader. You will n need to download its software?
A: No. It is just a printer. No copy. No scan.
A: I’m not certain what “drum” means. I can tell you that what comes in the box is a starter cartridge which could also be the drum you are referring to. The cartridge is called ‘starter’ because it is good for appx 700 copies just to get you started, as opposed to the regular cartridge you’ll eventually need to purchase which will yield appx 1400 copies. Just 1 piece that could be referred to as the cartridge and/or drum comes in the box. It isn’t small like other ink cartridges. It’s a fairly sizable piece that I could see someone calling a drum/cartridge, if that makes sense. All that you need to start printing right away comes in the box.
A: You can print wirelessly using AirPrint for IOS devices, Google Cloud print for Android devices or our Brother iPrint&Scan app that can be used on Android or Apple devices. This is a free app with no in app purchases required.
A: Mine prints normal. Not real dark nor real light. As far as the cost of toner cartridges I never buy manufacturers toner cartridges, unless I find a well priced one on eBay. I buy high capacity third party toner cartridges.
Q: Is this compatible w/Google Cloud print, printing from a chromebook?
A: Yes, this printer is compatible with Google Cloud Print.
A: Two ways, both online; request a CD from Brother; download the software from their website. Setup is easy for Windows, a little bit trickier for Mac.
A: The front of the printer that says "Brother" flips down so you can feed in legal size paper, label paper, envelopes, etc.
