I bought one of these kits for a teenager for Christmas with the plans of working with him with it and helping him learn to code, design and generally learn to use something to create and have fun. Unfortunately we never got that far. I had wanted one for myself for the same reasons and finally decided to get my own so that I can learn more coding and so that he and I could have a healthy competition to inspire the each other to do more with this little computer. I have not had it long myself but since helping him at least put his set together and install software I realized just how much this little device could be one's complete computer. The idea has been to have this device as a side project, a hobby away from the usual work I do on a Mac. And while it may not have all the features or App Store there is everything is there for one who wanted to cheaply use a computer. I find it as capable as a Chromebook, more akin to one's flavor of Linux. Hooked up to a television I saw the potential for anyone to get into this little device for day to day use. Sure there are caveats but I'm finding more and more features and day to day user could use beyond game emulations and coding LEDs to light with attachments added. I see real potential for young kids building this and using it as a PC to getting one's grandparents onto the web with such a simple device. On the flip side, one can automate an entire house with this little box and some lines of code. Point is, I think the possibilities are limitless with a Raspberry Pi. For the price it's worth checking out and seeing what you can use it for. It's what I'm beginning to do myself.

I purchased one use as a Linux server on my home network, replacing a recently deceased big- box. Runs 64 bit Ubuntu server for raspberry pi very well. Running samba, isc dhcp server, bind9 and proftp without a whimper. Purchased a second unit to run Apache web server for another application. Also performs flawlessly.

Full computer at basically the size of a deck of cards. I originally got it to understand cryptocurrency (with an ASIC miner), and I’m currently teaching myself how to route my WiFi through a vpn with it. Very cool purchase

I bought this to use as a pi hole and it works so well!! I honestly don't go a day without using this since it's always running. I don't think it would make a good desktop, but it's not designed for that. It does what it does and it does it well! Really well! I can't say enough good about it.

This is a must have for your personal projects, The only thing I don't like is the chase, other than that is perfect

I have heard about the Raspberry PI for several years fron hams in their hamshack. I like using alternatives to Windows and Mac so this interested me

This little thing is amazing. You can have an retro arcade or you can have fun programming. From what I have read you can even make this a backup server if you need it.

It does what I needed it to do. Help make a small unit for system backs

I'm very happy with the purchase. Initially I had an aging desktop system, large and clunky, sitting in the living room behind the television to do nothing more than run a streaming media box. While not able to hold the media itself, this lovely little box does exceedingly well at booting the server, loading the interface, and bringing up the database itself. The ease of setup and modification, combined with its size, makes it a perfect replacement for a full sized media box. I highly recommend this; so much so that I bought another one just a few days after setting this one up to replace another clunky old dinosaur.

Description states "This Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Plus kit includes a 6-foot HDMI cable so you can link it to a monitor." I ordered 6 of these for our robotics teams and when they were received they did not have the HDMI cables. Store management told me they are not responsible for the the website says. Would have returned them but we needed them that weekend. A;so it is cheaper on Amazon but thought since these would have the HDMI cables it is a better offer. But I was wrong, Will never buy from Best Buy again.
