  • Key Specs
    • Image Sensor Size: APS-C (22.2 x 14.8 mm)
    • Effective Pixels: 24.2 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • General
    • Brand: Canon
    • Model Number: 1263C006
    • Product Name: EOS 80D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm IS USM Lens
    • Color: Black
    • Product Set: w/ 18-135mm Lens
    • Camera Model Family: Canon 80D
    • Digital Camera Type: DSLR Camera with Lens
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Sensor Size: APS-C (22.2 x 14.8 mm)
    • Zoom Capability: true (This function allows for magnification of the subject.)
    • Digital Zoom: None (A digital zoom is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution gained in the process. The existing data is not enhanced or added to, merely displayed at a lower resolution, thereby giving an illusion of an enlarged image.)
    • Image File Format(s): JPEG, MP4, RAW (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
    • Eye Autofocus (Eye AF): false (Automatically seeks out and focuses on the subject's eye and holds it as the camera and subject move and as the photographer shoots at high frame rates.)
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1/8000 sec to 30 sec (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Minimum Aperture: f/3.5 (The smallest opening of a lens, typically expressed in f-numbers. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that can enter the lens. A smaller aperture creates a larger depth of field, which keeps both foreground and background in focus.)
    • Maximum Aperture: f/3.5 (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Minimum ISO: 100 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. When there is plenty of light, using the lowest ISO setting available will typically result in a higher quality image.)
    • Maximum ISO: 16000 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. In low-light environments, using a higher ISO setting helps to capture a sharp, bright image.)
    • Maximum Expandable ISO: 25600 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. Expandable ISO settings use software to simulate brighter images than the device's native ISO range is capable of capturing.)
    • Brightness Control: true (Allows the camera to adjust the brightness of a captured image for optimal exposure.)
    • Burst Mode: true (Also referred to as continuous shooting. This feature captures multiple shots in rapid succession.)
    • Self Timer: true
    • Self-Timer Delay: 10 seconds
    • Shooting Modes: Still photo and video recording (Exposure modes employed by the photographer to control the optimal aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings for capturing specific subjects/scenes. Examples include Aperture-Priority, Macro, and Manual modes.)
    • Panorama Mode: false
    • Scene Modes: Auto, Flash off, Creative Auto, Special Scene (Exposure modes with predetermined optimal settings for capturing specific scenes. Examples include Landcape, Portrait, and Sports modes.)
    • White Balance Modes: Auto, Daylight, Shade, Cloudy*, Tungsten Light, White Fluorescent Light, Flash, Custom, Color Temperature setting (Settings that calibrates how the color white is rendered in an image/video, reducing the appearance of unnatural contrasts caused by various light sources.)
    • Effective Pixels: 24.2 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • Lens
    • Lens Mount Compatibility: Canon EF, Canon EF-S
    • Lens Type: Standard Zoom
    • Minimum Focal Length: 18 millimeters (The minimum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The shorter the focal length, the greater the area of scene captured.)
    • Maximum Focal Length: 135 millimeters (The maximum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The greater the focal length, the smaller the area of scene captured.)
    • In-Lens Image Stabilization: true (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. Lens stabilization means an element within the lens moves automatically to counteract detected motion.)
    • Lens Series: Canon EF (The product group that the lens belongs to, based on similar shared features.)
    • Lens Model Number: EF-S 18-135mm
  • Flash
    • Integrated Flash: true

    • Screen Size: 3 inches (Size of the screen, measured diagonally from corner to corner.)
    • Viewfinder Type: Optical (A viewfinder is the part of a camera (or attachment) that allows you to see and focus a scene in frame. Optical viewfinders let you view the scene directly through the lens. Electronic viewfinders display the image on a screen in its approximate final form.)
    • Viewfinder Magnification: 1 times (The measurement of the apparent size of the image in the viewfinder compared to how it would be seen with the naked eye.)
    • Touch Screen: true (Touch-screen devices make navigating more intuitive. Using a touch-screen display, you can do things such as tap to select, hold and drag to move items, swipe to scroll, and pinch to zoom.)
    • Varying Angle Screen: true (The camera's screen can be flipped out and adjusted to rotate, tilt, and/or swivel.)
  • Video
    • HDR Mode: false (HDR Mode uses multiple photos taken at different exposures to add more dynamic range to photographs. HDR technology displays content with greater contrast between bright and dark, resulting in clearer and more lifelike images.)

Q: Will the 80D's 45 pt focus array work in the Sports Mode or is it just single pt?

A: I used that when taking action photos indoors of the athletes I coach. Had no problems and pictures were stunning!

Q: What is the big difference between the 80d and 70d because the only thing i see is like it's $200 more...

A: The 80D has 45 All cross type focus points whereas the 70D has only 19, which means its easy to select an object to focus on if you're shooting quickly. The 80D has a 24MP newer sensor. This makes it better in low-light and has better dynamic range. The viewfinder is 100% coverage in the 80D so what you see through the viewfinder or life mode is exactly what you get in photo/video mode. The 70D has only 98% coverage so you have to guess what will be in those borders. The 80D has a headphone jack for better audio quality/monitoring in video mode. (I'm not sure if that's important to you) The 80D has better weather sealing to combat the elements. It has NFC so you can send photos right to your camera after you shoot and there is a timelapse feature built into the camera. I would say it's worth it.

Q: for what type of pictures do you recommend this camera??? i'm looking one for kids professional pictures and newborn babys

A: You can use the Portrait or Kids option settings. The manual will walk you through the procedure.

Q: Is the 80D able to take good photos in low light like the 5d mark III? Thanks

A: I would say ANY camera struggles in low light. The 80D does a remarkable job in low light. It really depends on the lens. Nikon appears to handle higher ISOs better but I can get great low light shots at 1600-3200 using the kit lens.

Q: Is this a full frame camera?

A: No, the 80D is not a full frame camera. It has an APS-C sensor in it.

Q: What is the country of manufacture ? Is it Japan?

A: yes, all Canon product are from Japan

Q: How does this camera handle low light landscape photos, such as sunrise, sunsets and just before and after sunrise and sunsets. Thank you

A: I have taken several sunset photos with this camera and have been very pleased with the results.
