At the sale price the Canon R100 can't be beat. Sure it's stripped down compared to cameras costing significantly more, but there's a whole lot to like about the camera, starting with competent mirrorless imaging. And here's the main advantage for me, after purchasing Canon's EF-RF adapter the R100 takes photos with a vast number of older Canon EF mount lenses. Cool! For example, the first photo was snapped with a 15 year old excellent Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens, which can be purchased in the used market for a little over $100. The second photo shows a clear advantage of the R100 compared to a cellphone, that advantage being true background out of focus highlights (bokeh). And isn't it great to have a viewfinder when out in daylight instead of trying to squint at the screen of a cellphone to snap a photo? The focusing of the R100 beats out the focusing of Canon's DSLR 90D and the cheaper Canon DLSRs. The only downfall would be action shots. The R100 is capable of action shots, but here's where the dirt cheap price brings a disadvantage compared to more expensive entry level mirrorless cameras such as the Sony a6100. The image quality overall competes well with other brand entry level cameras (and with the right lens and composition can compete with cameras costing thousands of dollars more). Out of camera jpegs usually turn out pleasing and decently exposed. RAW imaging lets this cheap Canon shine. The R100 doesn't overwhelm the user with a barrage of buttons and choices, which is a good thing for the casual photographer. At the same time, the advanced user will be able to bring out quite good photos. At the price, the R100 is an easy choice for the first time mirrorless camera buyer. However, the biggest question might be, should a person buy the R100 with kit lens or stick with a competent Apple or Samsung phone for photos? Probably for the majority of people the phone makes for a better choice. With that in mind, if you think you might have an interest in photography, a latent photographer of artistic capabilities within you, then the Canon R100 is a good place to start. And here's a recommendation, purchase the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS to R along with the R100 (yes, probably best to purchase the kit R100 with the 18-45mm lens) and then go shopping for magnificent used lenses of the Canon EF world from such online shops as MPB.com or KEH.com. You'll end up snapping photos a phone could only dream about, and who knows, maybe, the budding photographer in you will grow into an artist of the highest merit!

Great camera, very easy to use. Quick autofocus and great clarity. Has all the functions of a DSLR. I bought an adapter to use certain lenses from my old camera and there's no issue

This is great entry option for a first "real" camera experience - it's super easy to use thanks to Canon's guided menu system and it's just a experience to get good photos by putting it in full "Auto Intelligent" mode. The color science of Canon is unmatched for great colors out of the box and great skin tones. In addition to having Wifi to move images to your phone, what I also appreciate is that is has a USB-C port works to transfer images to your modern smartphone like an iPhone via a simple cable for a quick and easy way to get your pictures to your phone without having to use Wifi. The body is very ergonomic and simple controls that are well placed making it easy to control/find what you need. The electronic viewfinder optic is much nicer than your average entry camera and having one lets you shoot in bright daylight much easier than just the LCD alone. If you kick the LCD up to Level 5 it is bright enough for most outdoor shooting applications. For video you should consider this a 1080P camera, the autofocus in the 4K shooting mode is basically useless, but the 1080P video quality and autofocus is great! Battery life is also great, it's amazing how many shots you can get on a fully charged battery. If you are thinking of buying any kind of entry older DSLR camera just don't get this instead, you will be much happier.

I upgraded from my EOS Kiss X5 (US RebelT3i) to the EOS R100. The Meike lens adapter works well with the Sigma lens and the camera itself is much lighter. Since I take mostly outdoor pictures I set it on auto and they are more crisp and brighter. The body itself is small and my palm constantly presses the menu button. Have to work on that. A lot of the functions are crammed into one button which means a lot of scrolling if you are doing it manually. On my DSLR certain functions are on the camera body itself making changes a lot easier. There are 14 settings on the DSLR and 9 on the R100. If you are used to or need a fully articulating screen this one does not have one. If you are looking to take outdoor/nature pictures this camera will do you well.

Had it for about a week now. The camera is very light but doesnt feel cheap. I have owned multiple other canon cameras, so if tour familar with the setup you should have no trouble. If this is your first canon, its very easy to use and intuitive. This is the perfet camera for traveling and is very easy to use. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is starting out.

I bought this mirrorless Canon to replace my old EOS Rebel xti. This is a decent camera. You get what you pay for. The quality of pictures is ok, not the best but this is a cheap Canon camera. Overall it is ok.
