About this product

EOS R5 C Full-frame, 8K Cinema EOS System Camera: Compact and lightweight, the EOS R5 C is a true hybrid camera, boasting many of the video formats and features from the Cinema EOS lineup as well as many of the still-imaging capabilities of the EOS R5 camera in a beautifully designed body. The EOS R5 C is a complete package that offers filmmakers, multimedia journalists, and advanced amateurs a cost-effective 8K, 4K, and FHD video camera to help unlock their creative potential. Shares Common Features & Technology with the EOS R5 Camera: Canon’s 45 Megapixel full-frame, CMOS imaging sensor is at the heart of the EOS R5 C camera’s superb image quality, which also leads the way for impressive 8K/60P RAW cinematic video shooting. Focus and speed are paramount in the EOS R5 C camera, providing impressive still-image continuous capture at speeds of up to 20 frames per second, and with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II capability, to track split second movements of even the most elusive subjects. With 1,053 Automatic AF zones, it is easy to photograph people with the use of Eye, Face and Head Detection AF, or intuitively track the whole body, face or eye of cats, dogs, or birds with Animal Detection AF. For those with the need for speed, Canon has also included still-image vehicle subject detection to assist with accurate tracking of cars and motorcycles. Connectivity like 5GHz and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, is also included for the transfer of still images. Video control for the dedicated video professional: As soon as the EOS R5 C’s main switch is moved to the “video” position, the familiar Cinema EOS menu system and interface take over. Expected high-level video features such as waveform monitors, video codec options, and extensive audio control become available — greatly expanding the EOS R5 C’s video potential for the experienced camera operator or video content creator. During “photo” operation, menus are nearly the same as on the EOS R5 camera.

Features
  • Canon RF24-70 f/2.8L IS USM Lens

This focal range is great for everyday shots, including everything from gorgeous landscapes to exceptional close-ups.

  • 45 Megapixel Full-frame CMOS Sensor

The EOS R5 C camera features the Same CMOS sensor as the EOS R5. It employs the DIGIC X Image Processor to enhance the speed of operations. This means fast, efficient performance and phenomenal image quality.

  • Supports 8K/60P Internal RAW Recording

The 8K sensor and DIGIC X processor produce high-quality video at up to 8K/60P. Use of the Cinema RAW Light format with its high-efficiency mode enables internal card recording without an external recorder.

  • ISO range of 100-51200; Expandable to 102400*1

Delivering high standard and expanded ISOs (for still images), and a score of options to help enhance shooting in varied and fast-changing lighting situations, the EOS R5 can shoot at expanded sensitivities down to ISO 50 (L) and up to 102400 (H).

  • 8K Sensor and DIGIC X Processor

The EOS R5 C camera is the first Cinema EOS System Camera to provide internal 8K (8192x4320) 60P RAW recording. 8K video offers outstanding definition and realism with 16 times the resolution of full HD video.

  • This enables unprecedented capabilities in video expression and highly flexible workflows, such as 4K cropping from 8K footage. The EOS R5 C camera can also record 8K video in the highly versatile MP4 format. Lighter, smaller proxy video files can also be recorded while shooting 8K.

  • HDMI 8K RAW output to cmpatible recorders

The EOS R5 C camera supports RAW output via HDMI and ProRes RAW recording with compatible external recorders such as Atomos devices*. By connecting the EOS R5 C camera with a supported external recorder, users can shoot in Apple ProRes RAW at up to 8K 30P.

  • Proxy data can also be simultaneously recorded to an SD card in-camera, providing efficient post-production operations. *Only Atomos NINJA V+ is supported as of January 2022. A separate HDMI cable is required to connect to the NINJA V+.

  • Up to 4K 120P Slow and Fast Motion Recording Mode in 4:2:2 10-bit

The EOS R5 C camera can record High Frame Rate (HFR) movies at up to 120P at 4K resolution (4096x2160/3840x2160) in 4:2:2 10-bit without cropping the sensor.

  • Amazing for shooting scenes full of fast-paced action, the EOS R5 C camera’s fast and intuitive autofocus remains enabled even during HFR recording, making it ideal when shooting from a gimbal or drone, delivering outstanding focus accuracy at HFR or at common frame rates.

  • Expanded interface for professional needs

The EOS R5 C camera provides a Timecode input/output terminal for easy synchronization when shooting with multiple cameras and other interfaces. A cable protector is also included as standard to prevent cable disconnection or damage to the terminal.

  • Canon’s Multi-function shoe with digital audio interface supports the optional TASCAM CA-XLR2d-C professional audio XLR microphone adapter for up to 4-channel audio. This optional accessory adds two full-sized XLR terminals with phantom power and shotgun mic mount.

  • Carries on the ergonomic EOS design

The EOS R5 C camera’s body design is incredibly compact and lightweight. When paired with a Canon RF lens (or EF lens using the Mount Adapter), it offers outstanding performance that fits easily and comfortably in your hand, making handheld shooting a breeze.

  • Its Electronic Viewfinder is optically extended, for eye-level viewing similar to the conventional EOS R5 camera, and it uses the same ergonomic grip design.

  • Internal cooling fan enables non-stop 8K/60P recording

The EOS R5 C camera features a cooling fan built into the body, forcing out the heat from inside. This enables continuous and virtually limitless shooting of high-definition 8K/60P video without interruption[i].

  • Simultaneously record different formats

The EOS R5 C camera is capable of recording two independent video files simultaneously, such as Cinema RAW Light and MP4 at various resolutions including 4K and HD, as well as lightweight proxy files for various professional workflows.

  • Full-featured 13 assignable buttons

The EOS R5 C camera is designed with operational flexibility in mind, conforming to each individual professional workflow, including 13 marked, assignable buttons that allow for user-friendly customized operation.

  • [1] Wireless connectivity for the transfer of video files requires the use of the Canon WFT-R10 wireless transmitter.

  • [i] Continuous recording of video is dependent upon media capacity and continuous power to the camera. Continuous power options include Canon’s PD-E1 USB power adapter (sold separately), or the DR-E6C DC coupler (sold separately) combined with the CA-946 compact power adapter (sold separately)

  • [1] The EOS R5 C camera does not feature In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS). Electronic IS during video recording detects camera/lens movement or shake, and digitally moves the image on the image sensor to counter the detected movement, but the image sensor itself does not physically move.

  • [1] Effectiveness varies depending on the subject. In some cases, dogs, cats or birds may not be detected, while some animals other than dogs, cats or birds may be detected.

    A fantastic 'Do-It-All' Workhorse of a Camera!

Truly impressed with this camera. I chose the Canon R5 C for it's video capabilities. Having the EOS Cinema operating system makes shooting video flow a lot better, I don't spend so much time digging through the menu for a specific setting, I have all the buttons programmed for my most commonly used settings. This camera has seen a lot of improvements from firmware updates over a few years and it's an absolute bargain with it's recently discounted price. Oh yeah, and it's a professional photo stills camera if you switch it over to the R5 photo operating system. I bought it with the Canon RF24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM lens, and this lens is incredible. I find that I prefer the optical stabilization in the lens rather than having IBIS. I came from using the Fujifilm X-H2s and so it had IBIS and I didn't have any stabilized lenses. It's autofocus has seen a lot of improvement in the video side in firmware updates, AF performance wasn't really something I was too concerned with, I like using vintage Contax Zeiss lenses that are manual. But I was really surprised with the AF performance in video. The AF in the Fujifilm cameras was never really great, so it's a very welcome addition to this camera system.

    THE HYBRID CAMERA

This is such a true hybrid camera in todays world. All thw bideo features im used to coming from black magic (BMPCC6k) with the full prodessional photo features. Im a photigrpaher first but always been fascinated with video as it it basically a lot of oicturebin one haha. Also, video was oaying me more at the time. Im coning from t6i on the photo side so this I a huge upgrade. I shot my bmpcc in all types of formats from social media (vertical), event recaps, convert highlights, weddings, doc and interview and run and gun work. Everything manual of course and I absoultetly loved it. Still do. I just wish it could have been used for photos (it fan but not like traditional photo camera). I literally stopped offering photographs because seeing the quality from bmpcc6k image couldbt compared to t6i without a studio photo shoot feel. BOOM, I knew the r5c was the one for me. Took me some time to finalky get it but it is exaclty what I knew I needed. Went ahead with the 24-70. My first full fram camera. Havent shot a large scale video on it yet but pretty fun for video. Photos are a no brainer. Much more professionak looking than shooting with my iphone 15 pro which honestly took beautifuk pics at 48mp I think but nothing beats an actual camera. Excited to get norw work on this. Glad I can just take on camera now for regukar recarp events to capture both contents if needed and I still have my bmpcc6k as b cam. Love the dual recording too. Peace of mind for professional paid gigs (or anything honestly lol). If I didnt do video to start with, I probablt would have hone with the r6ii because it is about 1k cheaper but I genuinely used things like false color and wanted to experiment with the 8k resolution for things like the digital crops to expand on some of my lenses as I work on getting this expensive rf glass. Focusing is beautiful. For photos, one or two batteries will get you through a day. Video, you can shoot 4k h265 60fps for maybe 30 minutes. Def recommend external battery (npf or vmount) if you are planning on really shooting but the option is there if you want to have light weight. Just bo 8k or raw recording without external battery. If you just photos but want video maybe, id recommend r6ii or even r5ii but if youre like me coning from video oriented side like bmpcc6k and actually used those features, just get it. Youll already be used to righing things up for video anyway so it no big problem fr.
