Right out of the box, this camera has so many improvements over the r5. The new image stabilization feature when recording videos are completely on par to using a gimbal. It does this by cropping the frame a bit, but there are plenty of ways around that (using a different lens, reducing the stabilization amount, etc). So, if youre like me switching back and forth between photos and videos or rocking a zoom lens, a gimbal is too cumbersome to switch in and out with and balance. Its great to be able to have that feature for handheld footage. It also shoots super slow motion, which is great for capturing high-impact shots, sporting events, etc. The colors are rich as always with Canon. In low light events, the pictures come out really crisp and I end up spending less time editing them. You still get a minor amount of grain in dim lighting, but its really easy to clean up compared to other models like the r7, r10, or the 5d. The auto focus can be programmed to 'prefer' certain faces over others, which is a game-changer for wedding photography. Shooting in 8k really helps with flexibility on lenses. Instead of having to switch to a higher zoom lens at a shoot, I can just keep the kit lens and crop the photo as needed. The resulting images are still so crisp, its like having a lens with twice the zoom, or more. Battery life is fantastic, and the xl viewfinder is *chefs kiss*. I'm loving this camera! Its just so flexible, an absolute workhorse for every job I use it on.

PROS: I absoloutly love the camera and I've been impressed so far. I've used it for outdoor daytime and low light photography and the image quality was great for both. My favorite feature is the electronic veiwfinder. I love being able to see how my exposure adjustments will affect the image before I take the shot. The autofocus is very fast and responsive. It also connects very quickley to the Canon Camera Connect app which makes transferring photos super convenient. CONS: My only downside is that, to get the most out of the camera, you'll want to use the recommended higher performance battery and memery cards, which can be more costly. The camera will still work with other compatible options, but certain features and performance levels are best supported with the recommended accessories.

We got this camera as an upgrade to an old, cheaper camera. We specifically were looking for one that could do good video and that had higher megapixels so that we can crop our photos if needed without losing too much quality. This has been great and we love the camera.

Debated going with R3, but don't regret for a second jumping in on the R1. Excellent all around from what I've shot so far, including indoor events and wildlife (birds, shot in foggy/cloudy conditions). I still have a lot to learn, while enjoying every click of the shutter!

The best camera I have ever used. No problem with any heat issues, and now I can use Clog-2 for video recording for better color range. Also the AF function is better than ever before, with 30p/s, I can make sure most of my shot are sharp and never miss any moment. I love it very very much.

I got a lens error code first time I turned it on. I Took the battery out and put it back in several times. Nothing worked. The buttons on the new version are very tiny and hard to press anyway. The camera never turned back on. Thanks to bestbuy for the return was easy.

The eye control doesnt work well for me, which is a shame because that was a major selling point for me. It doesnt follow my eye, fatigues my eye and frustrates me! Thankfully, the regular autofocus is very good on this camera. Still learning the controls, but having a good time with it while learning. I got some high end lenses to go along with it too, so its a blast so far. Hopefully we’ll get a patch to improve on the eye control because it would be awesome to have this feature. I’m giving this canera 4 stars because the eye control doesnt work for me. Other users have reported better results though. Otherwise, excellent camera so far.

I upgraded to the mirrorless R5 Mark II from the trusted 5D Mark II. The speed and the image quality of this camera are phenomenal. The autofocus is awesome.

I’ve been a Canon user for 30 years. Sadly I had to replace my R5…so of course, I stepped up to the R5 Mark 2…amazing differences on clarity if the image and the quickness of the shutter speed…especially with wildlife and motion shots! Only negative is I need more of a different battery. Given I use an R6 also it makes for way more batteries in the field than there should be.

The Auto focus on this camera is great. Controls are easy to use. Love that its 45mp so i can crop in and still have a good size photo.

This camera feels great in the hand! Hope Canon decides to make a wrist strap for it! The lens aperture ring works great in photo mode (24-105z & 70-200z). Seems to focus quicker than R3. Definitely an upgrade from the R3.

Very good camera, great speed and image quality. Would recommend for anyone looking to get into serious photography.

Excellent update to the R5. Pre-capture and faster readout welcomed. Requires new battery to use all advanced features.

Im thoroughly impressed with every aspect of this camera. The redesign of the M2 model is exceptionally well-executed and justifies the investment. While it is a significant expense, it is undoubtedly worthwile when pursuing a passion.

great camera and must to upgrade from old 5d3 user a decade ago. night and day difference with every feature needed for photo and video

happy with the product but the delivery was awful as it was delayed and i missed a wedding photography
