Pro photog here. It’s light weight, image quality is decent, though I haven’t tried all of the quality levels. The camera is small and lightweight, but there’s little to no hand grip. I immediately purchased a cage for it that has a larger grip and gives me more options for accessories. It has a passcode feature which I thought would be nice, but you have to enter it every single time. So annoying!

The Canon R50 V is a lightweight, creator-focused camera that delivers sharp photos and excellent 4K video in a compact body. Autofocus is fast and reliable, and it’s super easy to use for vlogging or livestreaming. The downside is the limited RF-S lens options and no viewfinder, but overall it’s a great choice for beginners and content creators who want quality without the bulk. The price is AMAZING, even considering the price hike from tarifs.

It’s my first camera. I intend on using it for educational videos. I paired it with a Sigma 16mm f1.4 prime lens and the quality is super. Professional visuals for a great price. Very hard to beat.

The Canon EOS r50v gets hot when shooting 4K video for 29.9-30 minutes.
