Covering a versatile 100 to 300mm range, it maintains a constant f/2.8 aperture for consistent exposure and shallow depth of field across the zoom range. A sophisticated optical design featuring fluorite, ultra-low dispersion, and aspherical elements delivers outstanding sharpness with minimal distortion, while Air Sphere and Super Spectra coatings reduce flare and ghosting in strong lighting conditions. Dual Nano USM autofocus provides fast, accurate, and nearly silent focusing suitable for both stills and video capture. Optical image stabilization compensates for up to 5.5 stops of camera shake, or up to 6 stops when paired with compatible in-body stabilization, improving handheld performance. Built to durable L-series standards, the lens is weather sealed and features a fluorine coating to resist moisture and debris. Internal zoom and focusing maintain consistent handling, and a rotating tripod mount enables quick orientation changes.
