I am not exactly a professional but not exactly a rookie. I have been shooting on Canon for the past year with a 24 to 70 I used the Canon R5C. I have been shooting myself on video for almost 10 years. I have only done a few photo shoots but I love the look of this lens. It does seem to a little more attention to white balance when you are indoors. Some people were saying that the SA controller only changes how soft the image is but when focusing on a subject it does seem to change the depth of field a little bit. Not exactly sure if this is true but it seems like it to me. 100 mm combined with Canon image stabilization and weather sealant makes this lens quite a beast. Add actual macro and the ability to focus on close up objects and you have a real winner here. When I was reading the reviews everyone said this lens was way above the 85 mm macro

Excellent quality in manufacturing, the sharpness of the image and the Macro function is of another level, it is not heavy to have a long focal length, it has a stabilization that, combined with the stabilization of the camera, gives incredible results, even if the camera does not have a stabilizer in the sensor, the autofocus works perfectly and the selection of the focus point is perfect, the best thing is the SA control, it creates surprising results, the quality and price ratio is perfect, the Canon L series is of another level. I recommend it 100%.

I'm studying film, and this has been my best decision. This lens is better than I expected! The image quality is incredible. I appreciate the Best Buy staff taking the time to review the offers. I'm so happy!!! I recommend it.

Bought the lense brand new and immediately too a few photos to test it out. The auto focus is lightning fast since it uses a USM motor, and to avoid focus hunting the lense comes with a Range Limiter switch that allows it to maintain focus within a specific range for when you want to take macro shots, portrait shots, or long range shots all the way to infinity. The optical stabilization on the lense makes is incredibly easy to one handle the camera while taking micro shots of critters and plants while using the other hand to hold the items still. Another nice feature is the spherical aberration knob that allows me to alter the shape of the foreground and background bokeh, this came really handy when I used it to take stacked photos and merged them in photoshop with different spherical aberration values to create this incredibly crazy effect on a few shots. This lense is not only a macro lense but can also be used to take medium- telephoto shots, and if you have a crop sensor RF camera than this lense becomes a 135mm lense that allows you to take pictures from far away which is great for weddings and podium events where you need to stand back from a distance. Overall this is a great lense that serves multiple purposes.

great macro lens. There are a lot of mixed reviews about this lens due to the cost and complexity of use, but once you learn this lens it really is great for both video and photography. This is a solid lens, and I have no regrets on this purchase. I do highly recommend using this lens with a tripod for best results. watch videos and practice with this lens and you will see why it's a good addition to your collection for macro photography and portrait.

This lens takes beautiful pictures. I’m still tinkering with settings, but it’s pretty user friendly overall. My only complaint is that it is heavy.

This is a do it all lens, you can go from photographing bugs in your front yard to shooting product photos and portraits, it’s light weight, has superb autofocus and image stabilization.

I am a wildlife photographer and part-time landscape photographer and decided to buy this lens to try the world of macro. Oh my! I have been missing out. This lens is fantastic! It is so sharp and crisp and pairs perfect with the R5. I also paired it with the R7 which is nice with the 1.6x crop. The level of detail is incredible. If you enjoy macro or want to step into it, make sure you have this lens in the bag! For an L series lens, the price is great!

This lens is incredible and a great upgrade from the EF lens. It is very sharp. Does well in various light conditions. The SA ring may not be for everyone, and I am still experimenting with it myself, but it is quite fun if you’re looking to be creative. It does leave the subject a bit blurry with a soft focus look. The only small annoyance is that sometimes the autofocus is off and doesn’t focus on what I want it to when using the touchscreen focus on my R5. I’m hoping that can be fixed with a firmware update. Otherwise, highly suggested lens.

Amazing piece of glass very fast and accurate focusing. The result I’ve seen from this lens are absolutely stunning you want be disappointed with this investment. If want to try your hand at macro photography this lens is well worth the money in my opinion but the attached images speak for themselves. These were taken very quickly hand held full manual settings with a Cannon R5 body. The Cannon RF 100mm L Macro will change the way you see the world around you.

I’m still exploring this lens but it seems pretty good so far. I like the weight and it’s sharp at 100 not sure about macro, I’m getting some blur but that could be from how this thing was shipped. See pictures. Huge box, no package padding, and the package arrived open. For an item this expensive I was really disappointed.

I was waiting for a RF version of the EF macro 100mm 2.8, and Canon delivered. Paired with the high megapixel count and focusing bracketing of the R5, this lens has allowed me to create some spectacular macro images of my reptile collection!

Can get a bit hefty when in awkward positions, but the level of detail you can get with it is incredible. Using it on the R50, it has been a great experience.
