Double 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Hot August Night is a 1972 live double album by Neil Diamond (InchHot August nightInch is also the opening lyric to Diamond's 1969 single InchBrother Love's Travelling Salvation ShowInch). The album is a recording of a Diamond concert on August 24, 1972, one of ten sold-out concerts that Diamond performed that month at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. This album, and it's predecessor album Moods, are generally acknowledged to be the two most important recording projects of Diamond's career in terms of defining his signature sound, and in the case of Hot August Night his live performance style, for the future. Diamond later released two live InchsequelInch albums, Hot August Night II (1987) and Hot August Night/NYC (2009). Album Tracks 1. Prologue 2. Crunchy Granola Suite 3. Done Too Soon 4. Dialogue 5. The Cult were a singles band, as evidenced by the Stones-like 'Love Removal Machine' and the blazing 'Fire Woman'. The ensemble's mixture of '60s influences (no wonder Ian Astbury became the lead singer of the reformed Doors) and hard-rock power, not only helped define a whole subset of the late-'80s alternative-rock scene, it's fair to say that the groups like Stone Temple Pilots owed at least some of their success to the Cult's early flirtations with the rock mainstream. Although the set isn't chronologically ordered, 'Pure Cult' still gives a good sense of the band's surprisingly organic shift in sound, ranging from the gothy neo-psychedelia of 'She Sells Sanctuary' to the sneering rock of 'Star'. Album Tracks 1. She Sells Sanctuary 2. Fire Woman 3. Lil Devil 4. Spiritwalker 5. The Witch 6. Revolution 7. Love Removal Machine 8. Rain 9. In the Clouds 10. Coming Down 1. Edie (Ciao Baby) 2. Heart of Soul 3. Wild Flower 4. Star 5. Resurrection Joe 6. Go West 7. Sun King 8. Wild Hearted Son 9. Sweet Soul Sister
