    • Model Number: 71406
    • Product Name: TrailSeeker 10 x 42 Waterproof Binoculars
    • Color: Green
  • Imaging
    • Magnification: 10 times
    • Objective Lens Diameter: 42 millimeters (Generally, the larger the diameter of the objective lens, the greater the light-collecting power and the brighter images will appear.)
    • Field of View at 1000 yards: 341 feet (The area of a target, measured horizontally from the location of viewing, that can be observed.)
    • Close Focusing Distance: 6.5 feet (The closest distance the user can be from an object to obtain a clear, focused view through the lens.)
  • Features
    • Size: Full Size
    • Prism Type: Roof (Prisms ensure the proper horizontal and vertical orientation of the view. There are two main types: roof and Porro. Roof prisms, typically more expensive than the alternative, have a more streamlined design due to their glass elements being in line with one another. Porro prisms, though they contribute to a larger form factor, typically provide a wider field of view than roof prisms.)
    • Tripod Mountable: Yes
    • Eyecup Type: Twist-up (In addition to blocking peripheral light, adjustable eyecups can limit or expand the field of view as well as promote comfort for the user.)
    • Exit Pupil: 4.2 millimeters (The diameter of the beam of light that travels through the lens to the user's eye. Generally, the larger this measurement, the greater the relative brightness and detail of the image.)
    • Lens Coating: Multilayer coated (Chemical coatings on a lens reduce reflective light loss and improve light transmission. The different coating levels indicate the number of anti-reflective layers and the lens surfaces to which they're applied, ranging from coated (the most basic) to fully multi-coated (typical of high-end optics).)
    • Focus System: Center (The most common binocular focusing system is center focus, which features a centered wheel or lever (InstaFocus) between the barrels, and usually additional diopter adjustment. Individual focus binoculars allows each eyepiece to be adjusted independently.)
    • Eye Relief: 15 millimeters (The maximum distance between the eyepiece lens and user's eye at which the full field of view can be seen.)
  • Performance
    • Protective Qualities: Water resistant
    • Casing Material: Magnesium-alloy
  • Camera
    • Integrated Digital Camera: false

Q: What is the close focusing distance?

A: The close focusing distance is 6.5 feet.

Q: What is the field of view at 1000 yards?

A: The field of view at 1000 yards is 341 feet.

Q: Can the binoculars be mounted on a tripod?

A: These binoculars can be mounted on a tripod.

Q: What type of lens coating does the binoculars have?

A: The Celestron TrailSeeker binoculars feature multilayer coated lenses.

Q: Does the binoculars have a center focus system?

A: These binoculars have a center focus system.

Q: Are these good for star gazing and astronomy?

A: Any binoculars are good for astronomy, but like with telescopes, the bigger the aperture, the more light they gather, and thus the dimmer the object can be seen. If the 10x42 are destined for other duties, like birdwatching and nature watching, they will do good double duty for astronomy. If these are being investigated only for astronomy, a binocular with 50mm objectives, or larger, would be a better choice for sky watching. Also be aware that any magnification above about 7 is hard to hold steady by hand and a tripod mount may be needed.

Q: Just in case the manufacturer sees this, The binoculars say they have call waiting. Pretty sure that's a typo lol.

A: Thank you for informing us of the error on the binocular specifications. We have contacted a manager to resolve the issue.
