I wanted to get a smart garage opener, which I could set up myself and had great reviews as well. Set up was so easy, it took only minutes. It works great and at a touch on the app, it shows you the status, of door - how long it has been open or closed for. It is very reasonably priced as well. The hub does not need to be installed on the ceiling as per their video, mine is placed on the opposite wall from the sensor. Tip: Just make sure you can get to the program control on your old garage opener easily, mine was a genie model and had screws on top, so I had to get someone with higher ladders to remove the screws on top of the lens cover for me.

Setup was easy and be sure to download the app first before proceeding. App connects everything to the network and gives step by step instruction. Sensor attaches to garage door with adhesive strips and the garage module mounts at the front of your garage. Door opener happens to be a Chamberlain and this was great! Be sure to disconnect any devices that emit conflicting frequencies like bug zappers, etc. Sometime the open/close cycle may get off track if you open with your phone and abruptly close with the push of physical door opener button. Easy to resolve if that's the case. A password can be added to prevent premature operation. Also, when closing with your phone, device gives a series of warning beeps before engaging the garage door closer, Overall, can't complain about this device.

This is a pretty good unit. It's a bit squirrelly to set up but not too bad. You have to wifi connect your phone directly to this device to enter your wifi network connection info. I had to stop my phone from autoconnecting to my router so it would stay connected to this hub so I could enter the Wi-Fi info but once I figured that out it was an easy setup. The sensor that tells you if the door is up or down takes a cr22 or something watch battery. This is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars but to be fair it isn't that old yet and I have not had to change the battery yet. It just seems like a more robust battery, like the ones that go in a wireless doorbell would have been a better choice. If it proves me wrong and the battery lasts a long time I will edit my review. Lol. Warning. After buying this item I am now obsessed with smart home products and I now have a smart outdoor surveillance system and smart lighting in and out, as well. Hahaha. So awesome. You have been warned!!

I wanted to be able to open and close my Genie NON-SMART garage door remotely to let my birds get some direct sun when Im not home. And this is Exactly what this device lets me do. I also set up reminder notifications to be sent to my phone after the garage door has been open for 2 hours and 4 hours. One thing to improve would be to be able to stop the door in the middle like you know if I only want the door halfway open, should be able to do that from the app like 1/4th open, 1/2 open, 3/4th open and full open would be great addition too. But thats just me nit picking :D Im happy with this device. Easy to set up, I was able to set it up myself in less than 15 minutes. I am diy-er 35 yr old female.

As of today this product worked but tomorrow could be another story. First let me start off with the battery in the sensor for the garage door is the first thing that need to be replaced. Because the hub will send open door messages to the app. And next comes the error code. It’s because the app doesn’t know if the door is open or closed. If the error occurs you have to manually press the garage door button to close. I also had to reset the hub after changing the battery. Even with changing it’s still no guarantee if the hub with communicate with the door sensor. There been times when the app says the door is open when I’m actually looking at a closed door. Waiting on the reset for the app can be lengthy at times. Now when it does work properly there’s no problem. I have been 25 or more miles away and I could open the garage door from the app. I just think it’s supposed to work 100% of the time with not having to guess if it’s going to work or not...

We got this so we could make sure the garage door was shut after my oldest left for school. He has his head buried in his phone and forgets sometimes. Beating him does nothing for his memory so we opted for this. It's great! You can set auto-shut timers for the whole week- different days and times-to make sure its shut. It will also send you an alert when it auto-shuts the door. This was super easy to install, even AOC could do it. The app is also easy to use and simple. It does require a wifi connection to function. It's an easy piece of mind purchase that has had zero issues so far.

It's June 11th 2018 today and I bought and installed this back in the beginning of February. Chamberlain just had a data breach last week and this morning at 3am my garage door began opening and closing on its own. I woke up to discover that my door had opened 3 times throughout the night and currently was open for an hour and the app never notified me. I closed the door and it stayed shut so I went to work. Came home 11 hours later to find that my garage had been open for 5 hours and I still hadn't been notified. I call customer support and all they say is that I need to factory reset and see if it happens again. Do you know how nerve racking it is to have to chamber a round in your weapon and leave your kid in the running car while you sweep your house for a burglar or missing items, not knowing that the "smart" hub decided to open on its own? I'll never plug this back in and never recommend anyone use it!

The product works as described and love how you can control your garage from anywhere and even notify if door is open or closed. Overall I’m satisfied with this product and recommend!

Bought this on sale at Best Buy. Fairly easy to set up. Easy to use and can share with three other people. Great for our home away from home.

I bought this because for some odd reason my garage door opener will not work at night sometimes. This has been a handy and reliable back up. It does not work with Siri or Alexa, but you can drip another $50 for a hub that will allow it work with Siri - at least that’s what I’ve read. But to do that would likely require yet another electrical outlet. I installed a Leviton 4-in-1 outlet (1254-W) on the ceiling in case I ever decide to get the hub. It expands the 2 plug outlet to 4 and is simple to install.

Was skeptical about buying this but it works great and was super easy to install. Great purchase.

Now when I go on runs I dont need to park outside, carry a key to my car just to access garage remote. I can so it all from my smart device. And what's even better is I can use this with google assistant. Happy with my purchase, it pairs great with my compatible Liftmaster garage system.

Very helpful for when you forget if the garage is open or closed.

The product works good and I wish they had a supporting camera to check who entered the garage instead of using a separate one and integrating it.

There have been a handful of occasions where I've found myself driving away from my home and I can't recall whether I closed my garage door or not. I don't have that problem anymore! The MyQ app allows you to see if the garage door is open or closed, and also cause it to open and close. This comes in handy if you find yourself locked out of your house but do have your cell phone. Kids would be able to get in without a key as well if they have an electronic device. This product can simply make your life easier. Installation is pretty simple. and took me about an hour. The quick start guide isn't perfect but it gets the job done. I love the feature that provides alerts to your phone if the garage is being opened or closed. This tells me when my wife/kids get home or could potentially alert us to a burglary. If you are looking to make your garage door opener "smart", this is an affordable and easy way to go!

I've been wait for something like this i always drive back to my house to make sure my garage door is closed i know it's just a mind thing. I did have it bounce back up 1 time and that has always stuck in my head to come home to an open garage door. so having this has put me a ease to know that i will get an alert if the door remains open. So if it is open all you do is open the app up and close door that easy. The set on this took a little bit of time it wasn't 1,2,3. First thing you have to make sure you have 2.4ghz open on your WIFI and it has to be separate from the 5ghz that is easy to do. After that just follow the instructions on the app it will walk step by step. You only need 1 control box this will operate 2 door but you must have a second garage door sensor to mount on the door. You can name each of the doors on the app so you know what door is what. Now when working with the app from the phone when you close the door a light starts to flash and a beeping noise stats going off for safety. The only bad thing about that is if you have bedrooms above you garage you will be able to hear it not as loud but you can hear it. Make sure your openers are are made after 1993. this is a very good product i have enjoyed having it's worth knowing your doors are closed.

What is different about the Smart Garage Hub is it works with other garage doors which aren’t MyQ enabled and could potentially be manufactured by competing companies. What comes in the box is a Wi-Fi hub, garage door tilt sensor, and mounting hardware. The tilt sensor communicates with the hub to determine if the door is opened or closed. The hub plugs into an outlet and the sensor is battery powered. The hub also has a light and speaker to warn you when the garage is closing. During setup, you install and app on your phone which asks a series of questions about the type of garage door you have. It will then proceed to tell you how to connect the hub to you garage door by essentially mimicking a standard garage door opener so no complicated wiring is needed. Overall, the hardware installation process is very basic and doesn’t require any special skills or a technician. This is great. What is not so great is the basic theme carriers to the “smart” functionality. You would assume that something labeled smart would focus first on functionality while attempting to make things simple. In the case of the MyQ Smart Garage Hub, anything more than basic scheduling of opening and closing at a specified time is either not available or hidden behind a pay wall. Besides a basic schedule, you can get notifications for the garage opening, closing, or left open. Apple Homekit, Nest, and Xfinity are included at no extra cost but oddly, the big players in the smart home business are either absent or require a monthly subscription. Google Assistant and IFTTT integration are available for a fee but Insteon, Wink, Iris, and SmartThings are nowhere to be found. It was rumored that SmartThings integration was to be available a long time ago, but it appears Chamberlain has decided otherwise. This leaves you with very limited options which arguably offer only the most basic of smart capabilities. This is very disappointing, and many other devices realize that a smart home requires collaboration and not locking you out. A perfect use case example would be if you have a smart home hub which allows basic rules. We have all left the house in a hurry and left our garage open. With the MyQ Smart Garage Hub you could get an alert that your garage was left open and close it via the app. Helpful, but smart homes are capable of so much more even without getting complicated. With integration with the mainstream smart home providers you can set your home so when you leave and your garage door still open, it closes automatically. You haven’t even left your neighborhood and your house is automatically secured. Even better is that they can alert you if the garage failed to close while you are still near your house allowing you to turn around and fix the problem before you go across town. Overall, the MyQ Smart Garage Hub is a nice idea hampered by lack of compatibility and attempts to make what is generally a free system an a la carte subscription based system. The potential is there if they would add compatibility. If you use Apple HomeKit, Xfinity, or Nest this might be right for you to add a little smarts to your garage. If you are building your smart home and want more functionality than just being able to remotely open and close your garage without paying an extra fee and you desire the simplicity of integration, it would be best to look at other solutions

Installation was very easy for Chamberlain MyQ Smart Garage Hub. The directions are very simple to follow. Instructions are provided with very nice pictures that easily map out what to do with each step. I have installed wifi hub on the ceiling next to the garage door. It is stated that the hub needs to be seen from the garage door. I placed my hub and senor directly across from one another, with the senor mounted on the top corner of the garage door and the hub next to the outlet on the ceiling that is shared with the garage door opener. It works great. Once the unit is installed, the next step is to connect it to your home wifi. There is no issue with this and directions are pretty straight forward. It can send you an email, push alert, or both. Once everything is setup, the app works as expected. It allows you to open or close the door from anywhere with a cellular or wifi signal. I have had it installed for few days now and I have tested it several times. It seems to work without any issues and very reliable. I would definitely recommend the MyQ Universal Smartphone Garage Door Controller to any friend or family member.

I got this as an addition to my smart home environment. I had the smart camera, smart alarm, and even smart hub which I could control everything from my phone. So I wanted to have peace of mind when driving on my way to work be able to check if I left the garage door open or not. The MyQ hub allowed me to know the status of my garage door. Best of all my smart hub worked in conjunction with the MyQ garage door opener so I could go to one app to control and monitor my home. The MyQ really complimented my Smart home eco system. I'm very happy with it!
