Customer Ratings & Reviews

Original 1996 release on CD was great since I could not afford the UK only vinyl on Fontana Records after they left 4AD. One can almost hear words in the vocal sounds of Liz Frazer on this album. Seriously, Rilkean Heart and Serpentskirt have "lyrics" in almost traditional sense. This pressing from 2024 remastered by guitarist and producer Robin Guthrie is second best to slightly harsh original pressing from analog masters. The music is clean and clear with swirling guitars to help the voice float in the air! The vinyl is quiet where it should be and the dynamics are not compressed or loud but remastered digitally, so not exactly the same as 1996. Comparing to CD purchased soon after released in 1996, vinyl is warmer but mostly because extended bass range and analog format, not because mix is substantially different. Lovely cover and heavy-weight vinyl.
